SlushSeasonAssuming you mean roommates as sharing your actual room; living with roommates is an expected part of college here. Almost everybody has to share a room for the first 1-2 years of college. I had friends in more expensive cities that shared a bedroom for all 4 years.

WoFlowzthis^^^^ without government subsidies or financial aid, lower income students would do far worse in college. I think this support actually is why we see lots of First Gen students succeeding in school. While middle class students tend to struggle, and ofc upper class students flourish. Really should be studied more imo

KungKalmarWe don't have dorm rooms. Each university city has student housing association that builds and owns normal apartment buildings. They offer cheaper rent than anyone else. Some of those apartments are single bedroom. Some are bigger and come with roommates that you can't choose. For certain reasons not being able to choose your roommates is terrible. Getting a single bedroom apartment from student housing takes time if you are local or have access to money that others don't have so you usually have to start with private renting if you are unlucky. Sharing a kitchen and possibly bathroom is not how I roll. Living in a ~20sqm apartment alone is how I roll. I hate people
