Yeah I know there were some rant threads over the years grinds my gears and whatever. I don't think any of them were that happening to dig up. I probably made one of them honestly. Whatever.

I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

Phone shattered day I left for the airport. Luckily friend lent me a phone. Beggars can't be choosers but damn it's a shit phone. But got it working decent then it went rogue and factory reset last week. So just not got it working again with my sim here and back on the webz.

Prolly could have done it sooner but been working 7 days a week and haven't had much time to try and figure it out. Got back into most of my accounts today. Big internet guy lol

Stoked to be back in Africa. A few familiar faces from back in the day and met some awesome people. Been getting some laps in and helping some people learn some tricks. Also fun and challenging as fuck/frustrating trying to do what you want to do with a pisten bully 240d from the late 80s lol. Actually got grooming/building park somewhat dialed in now. Machine is fussy but it's cool to make it work for what you need.

Anyway, the reason I didn't come back here in 2018 was my boss. I think that was literally the only reason. I stayed in America in for the 2018 season and chilled.

Had some issues with my Australian visa this year. Looked like I'd probably have gotten it, but it was taking too long and I got bumped on the housing list, so at that point pretty much a no go.

Afriski needed some people. they had a tough couple years after covid and some weird transition shit. Anyway, I've always wanted to come back, check the place out and visit some friends around southern Africa. So I signed on.

I actually had been in Joburg for a day or too waiting for a ride to Lesotho to the ski area when I first found out said boss gugy had decided to come back.

I wasn't stoked but figured it's been 7 years. We're both older and hopefully we can get a long. I'm down for whatever and just happy to be back. Unfortunately not so much the case. Dude's ability to deal with people has somehow gotten worse. And we're picking up where we left off.

Every place has problems, but basically everything else is good or food enough. It's friggin skiing in Africa. It sucks that literally the only reason I didn't come back in 2018, is now back here, and making me feel the same way.

Luckily other departments are all short so I might just switch to ski school and teach the peoples.

Idk it's a bummer because I love parks and grooming, and I'm decent at my job. Extremely motivated. I worked my ass off last time I was here and our parks were sick. Rebuilt the rail fleet, did a bunch of maintenance and welded up a new donkey dick rail.

I'm passionate about this place and was so stoked to come back, but that dude really just sucks to work with. Even the guests he's yelling at them kind of aggressively. Just stands in the base by the lift and yells at people. Yelled at a little kid because he fell on a jump. Like this is peoples vacations and they're spending $$ to be here. You need to keep people safe but you don't need to be an ass about it.

We'll see how the rest of the season goes. I'm not really making money to be here. I came cause I love the place and the people here. Sucks how much 1 person can have a negative impact on your experience.

I fucking hate how my brain sketches me out when I date people and it possibly might be going well but you get scared of getting your heart broken again or breaking their heart. I don't like emotions sometimes but I am at least learning how to accept them for what they are. I haven't done this in a really long time and idk what pace to go with.

Might as well. I guess they had a rough last couple years but they're back on the up and up. Honestly I love ripping some afternoon spring vibe turns any time. Small place but you get a decent length run.

I believe it was. I think even in the one exposure you could see the starts really well but I think it's merged with another, possibly long exposure in pitch black.

my lil pos dart needed some work and my dads friend does super cheap work but it takes a long time so we switched and im borrowing his truck. its a diesel truck that was used for our horse trailer and other real truck stuff. super nice truck that i couldn't afford nor do i want so i sarcastically will call it ‘daddy's truck’ as i haul my bikes with it lol

anyway, im a fuckin idiot!! I saw a sign for a truck stop that had diesel for $3.06 when gas
is $3.09 so fuck yeah I went there. the pumps for the semis are fuckin faaaast! so ive been filling up here always. well today i saw that they had a lane for ‘auto diesel’ so i said oh shit whats this? its highway diesel for semis only!! fuuuuck
i had no idea. my mpgs have dropped significantly since ive been using it. what a jabroni!! hopefully 2 tanks wont do any long term
damage but god damn lol

First week all summer i’ve gotten more than 18hrs at the bike shop, now that i’m a manager I do Tuesday-Thursday for 10hrs plus another 6-8 saturday and i picked up friday night for a race packet pickup. I’m currently making 18$ a hour, but for the amount of work i’m doing is lowk insane. I’m 17 managing three adult employees, finances, schedules/timesheets, in addition to maintaining/working on accounts with our suppliers. It just seems like a ton for what I’m making. I’m glad the owner gave me more hours because I need to save money. At the same time, now that i’m a manager/supervisor without the title or pay it sucks. I legit spent all yesterday on the phone with out Cervelo rep, determining what we can pay on the acc, maintain our line of credit with them, as well as custom order things. In addition to helping in the shop and receiving two pallets from Kona and JBI/QBP. Like i love the owner he’s given me a job since 14, I get insane discounts and he’s flexible with rowing all around a nice guy. But with all the work i do, I should be payed more. With this experience I could be making 23plus at Toms Pro Bike 10 minutes away. Mind you they wouldn’t be as flexible but like seriously? I can’t get anymore. I don’t make commission, I beg for hours, and take care of the business side of the shop, and still sold 11grand worth of Argon’s and Cervelos while doing all this. I’ve got another job and it’s a bit above minimum wage but sucks, I can get more hours and it is tipped but scooping ice cream for 8-10hrs drives me insane. Idk it’s just wearing me down working at the shop, then scooping ice cream 7-12 then waking up at 5:30 going to crew 6-8 then working 8:30ish to 6 everyday sometimes 6:30 if i need to get extra work done. i just don’t want to leave but also want to be compensated even tho Ik for a fact money is tight cause i take care of the books. Good friend of mine at work got dumped by his girl, lost his job at the ski hill , and got evicted from employee housing all in a week. Worried about him right now. He's living in his car at the moment God knows where. Was just working with him like 2 days ago

not sure why your getting downvoted, if your doing all that and still only making 18bucks thats pretty ridiculous. bike shops just generally pay horrible though for the amount of work in my experience working at them.

For some reason my fathers ex-girlfriend still wants to keep contact with me and my siblings. I don't really understand what she gets out of it. I have just cold-ishly ignored her invitations to do things, Siblings still answer to these even though it apparently feels like a chore to them.

i’m getting downvoted because i’m a entitled kid with well off parents complaining about having to work. But at the end of the day for the amount of I’m doing the pay is god awful. I just can’t quit either job or my parents will be mad. Their requirement is I put in 40hrs a week in order for them to pay for my education. Which is beyond reasonable, but I can’t keep doing this 24-30ish hours at this shop for this pay in addition to minimum wage plus tips at a ice cream shop another 18-24hrs a week

cut back on the ice cream shop? Build useful skills for $18 or scoop ice cream for minimum wage, seems like the bike shop even if you are being underpaid is the better gig. Also who trusts a 17 year old to order bikes and shit?

So maybe me and dude I was bitching about are gonna get along this season. Hoping he realizes I'm not hanging around slope all day yelling at guests, but also I do a killer job in the cat when I'm pushing snow. Hopefully it continues like this. Idk, like the guy enough, we get along, but when he sucks, he fucking sucks. I think as I've ignored requests to do bullshit day time stuff but stayed late and kicked ass in the snowcat it's started to help.

Hoping that vibe continues. Idk, I'm pretty decent at what I can do in a cat, even these old 1980s machines. I just don't want to stand around yelling at guests in the day ever. That's not my jam, will never bee my jam. I I started around 2 and got out at 1 30 am tonight. Also have 0 days off unless I line them up. So basically working plenty for my wages. So that's why I was hostile of all the bullshit. I think also said guy is used to being the only good operator/only guy who can groom park, so maybe that factored in.

Anyway I'm staying optimistic and hoping it works out. Like I said I'm down for whatever. I don't mind going off somebody else's plan, I just want to either get set loose, or somebody tells me a plan and leaves me the fuck alone to go do it. Hopefully we're moving in the right direction. If it does work out and maybe they cranked my wages up a little I'd consider coming back next year. I really do love Africa, it's just hard to make it work as you're pretty much working 7 day a week to lose money.

I hope so. she's really cool but her family is extremely controlling, especially her cousin. Every time we have hung out, she's had to leave.

i’d love to but there is no money on the books to staff me another day of the week. Even tho I get the work done of two other sales/cashier employees. Which I have clearly explained to the owner but ones his retired friend and works to stay busy, the other is some kid who’s uncle or something buys a fancy ass new cervelo every year. Both are completely incompetent and cannot asses even the slightest mechanical issue on a bike or sell a bike over 7-800$. In addition to having zero fuckin social skills or tech skills, and cannot seem to use our computer system for the life of them. Pisses me off

Lit, I just got back from a road trip and I get to wake up for school at 6 tomorrow. Class starts at 7 and then after that I start my new job. Had a massive burger and I wasn't hungry for four meals after that. My dog pissed on a buddy's 10k bike. Lil homie gets more girls than I do and he's borderline emo. My feet itch, haven't showered in 5 days. I collabed with arsenic on the pants that drop in a few days. Super exited for the drop and am gonna order the pants and purple shirt with money I don't have. Have had to shit for 4 hours but wanted to get home and now I don't have to poop. My friends gf sent me a nude and I told him. He was pissed as fuck. She was mid anyways. I'm trying to edit some footage together that is good enough to drop. my dog keeps chewing on his balls and there are sores that are super gross. He also thew up today. The color green is the best color because all pretty girls have green eyes. They are also all bitches. Got a concussion 4 weeks ago and still feel it a little. Feeling real good though and when I ride my bike all the problems go away but doctor says no fun riding or proper sending yet. I haven't written this much since my college application essay thing. I'm exited to start on my last machining quarter and do 5 axis stuff but after that I get to do math. Math is hard because brain damage makes you bad at math and gives you anger issues. Cant hold coherent thoughts. Yeeee. The on3p best worst is cool. My parents are asking if I'm writing a great American novel and are proud. Tired as fuck. PEace.

I hate these bs swim meets at this pool close by.

its a tiny neighborhood pool, but for some reason have these huge meets, I’m talking people bringing tents to sit at the park outside and take up an entire soccer field.

Then, once they are gone, they leave so much trash, like a full canopy and lawn chairs. Talked to an old guy picking it up and he had two trash bags full of it.

Whatever happened to no littering? Also the same group to complain about homeless people, but act even worse.

Mouth healthcare system is the biggest joke ever.
I got a letter in march that recommended me to get an appointment to dentist. First I had wait 4 weeks for a spot to call them because their call times didn't fit my schedule at all. They gave me a time for a mouth hygienist to May because apparently they do the check ups for high schoolers. The hygienist checked up my teeth and said something needed to be checked by a real dentist because she didn't know(??) if there was something wrong with my teeth. She gave me the time for a real dentist appointment to June and they did the same exact check as the hygienist and said something needs to be fixed and gave me a time for this weeks Thursday. Now they sent me message saying that my appointment was cancelled and they will give me a new time with a fucking letter. Why can't they send the new time with a message. My teeth will rot before I get to the dentist.

Fuck those who designed this inefficient system. It doesn't make any sense.

And also pay your whole monthly salary? Doesn't really matter most middle class adults go to private dentist anyway.

If I'm lucky I get to see them on the same year.

its the fuckin best! i just leave it in my shower and i floss everytime i shower now and i never have bloody gums, never have bad breath (unless im sick) and always get a good review from the dentist. easy as fuck to clean (my first one had nooks and crannies that were hard to reach with a sponge so it got gross)

I've only heard great reviews on these. I need one. I still floss nightly with my Glide Floss but i hate any other floss brand.

I'm one of those rare breeds who is 34 and have no cavities, no braces no retainer.

this fuck that lives across the street from me is probably in his early 20s maybe even younger. might work from home but seemingly doesn’t have a job. he has 2 cane corsos that he is doing an awful job at training. At 5:45 this morning he was screaming at them in the street to lay down. and i had a dream that cops had guns pointed at me and screaming to lay down lmao. then i woke up and listened to him struggle to get any obedience out of his dogs while i lay there day dreaming thoughts of police brutality. lovely way to start the day wouldnt you say??
