Its democratically elected government is being supported militarily by dozens of governments, both on it's own border, and within it's backyard. You act like the USA is the only one giving Ukraine the tools to fight it's wars... all we did was give them some backstocked anti tank missiles, some short range artillery, and plans to give them a couple dozen old tanks we had lying around from the desert storm days. Poland has already gave them like 300 tanks all on their own, a bunch of fighter jets, helicopters, and IFV's...

It's not like we are giving them money that would have gone to schools or afterschool programs... it's money we already took from those programmes in 2003 and allocated towards equipment intended for use in Iraq - which was instigated by blatant bullshit that the GOP fully was on-board with it at the time because their mouth-breathing supporters demanded the red meat. At least if we give Ukraine this military equipment and they can defend themselves and their homes from war-criminal Russian invaders, then maybe that money might actually go to something morally justifiable - not saying war is good, but considering Russia is the asshat aggressor here, then yeah. I support it.

None of these things have actually happened, and I pretty strongly doubt they will happen within the next 5 weeks as the government is nearing another shutdown battle at the end of September.

There has been some humanitarian financial support as well, such as construction materials, medical equipment and the like, but it's far overshadowed by the cost of military aid we are sending (which is a fairly arbitrary number, because it's all inflated government-given costs, not market-based costs) Before you start telling me to do my research, why don't you recognize what's actually happening within your own sources you share.

You weren't even paying taxes when the money that was allocated to this equipment was actually allocated. We are giving them a bunch of extra shit so they can defend their positions and make the slow pushes they need to retake their land. It has bipartisan support in congress. As far as cost to Americans, this is doing less of a dent to the national debt than any of the tax breaks we give to corporate interests and the super wealthy already.

theabortionatorI've always hated this saying. It sounds good but also kimd of sucks. A lot of low level(local) heroin dealers are just addicts trying to stay going. Honestly the drug war is what caused the shift to fent.

Several of my friends, a bunch of people I know and a few of my best friends are dead and I still feel that way.

Sounds good when reading a bumper sticker "yeah fuck heroin" but in reality pretty meh. I guess at least we've finally started to believe mental health issues are real. I think if therapy and other resources were available it would go along way. Fuck a lot of the pill blow up was cause by them being fucking everywhere, fucking everywhere and as a country seeing oxy etc as less harmful than weed.

Sucks ass with fent now though. At least its more known but you can't even buy real dope a lot of places anymore. Its all cut or 100% fent. When that transition happened people didn't know. There were people that had been addicted to opiates for decades but managing lives and careers but died wlin that shift.

Sucks our goal is still to "get tough on drugs" in a country that doesn't even have legal weed and the downsides of our drug war massively outweigh the ups. It's America and we never lose a war though. Not even Vietnam...
