Turd__AuthorityAh you're referring to the consumer perspective. I was thinking more about from a owner viewpoint (I don't own any rentals). For example someone with a vacation home may hire a property manager to oversee the property for them.
Landlords like you describe get walked all over. Good from a tenant viewpoint but bad for income unless you have incredibly reliable tenants.
Shitty tenants are the worst. And i've dealt with that sort-of "handshake" deal with housing and it only left me with moving back in with my parents after 8 months of a shitshow. All some of us want is contractual obligations fulfilled, in writing with detail, and none of this surprise unethical shit that a lot of PMC's and income property owners get away with. If I'm helping you pay your mortgage and keep your financial sense of mind satisfied and happy, the fuckin least you can do is the same for us without any strings attached and surprises. Don't get mad when shit isn't in writing that should be fixed and spelled-out explicitly. I'm going to have to reach out to my mediator YET again after dealing with these retards earlier in the winter.
Case-in-point: Me and my roommate get our phones blown up by our property manager because they failed to notify us prior to a maintenance guy THEY sent out and tasked the job with literally like 2 hours before to come fix a water issue that we've been complaining about since February at the least. Me, working a 7am to 730pm shift and my rooomate, working out of state as a flight nurse, get literally no warning prior to them showing up. No text, calls, emails, or anything. Just like "hey we're here to fix this", only to get pissed at us that the doors are padlocked and my dog almost ate their maintenance guy alive. Yeah no fucking shit she's scared. She thought someone was breaking into our house. Are you that fucking daft?
"Oh well she needs to be kenneled" according to our property manager, but yet again, NOT IN THE CONTRACT!!!!!!! No fine print regarding the pet deposit or anything. You guys know there is a dog living here, and we even have a "Beware of Dog" sign prominently displayed in our window. It's your fucking fault, and I feel bad the maintenance guy nearly shit himself but honestly fuck property managers. Good ones are very few and far in between.
Like seriously more laws in favor of tenants needs to happen. Some of us FULLY understand that we're merely guests in their house but I've had some really great landlords in the past, mostly shitty ones, but Respect for people paying your fucking mortgage at the least should be something that needs to be hammered into peoples heads more.
Who the fuck cares though. Honestly crash the housing market entirely. I hope the debt default fucks all these people over.
