I've been told through the grapevine that they really aren't turning profits as much as they expected to be, are losing money, and are starting to clamp down on each departments labor budget i.e meaning short-staffing on purpose or cutting hours, refusing to pay OT, etc. idk dude, im just confused and want the straight answer. I have health insurance through this place and i really fucking need this job on top of the entry level experience, but its been pretty brutal this winter. I think people are hitting the burn-out stage and are just being assholes to each other. The lack of care for other co workers or departments is sad. Plus it being the busiest winter in almost 2 decades out west here doesn't make things better in terms of crowds and people.

Basically he was saying by keeping that word in such a manor that certain people can say it based on the color of their skin and that certain people dont say it because of the color of their skin that it retains value as a no no word. Basically if the stigma was erased and we let everyone use it freely then it wouldn’t continue to carry weight as an oppressive word.

theabortionatorIt's almost like words mean different things in different cultures. But yeah if people just say it more it will mean nothing. Words and their meaning change over time for sure but there's no magically erasing the past of a word.

partyandBSI’m making some assumptions here for sure but assuming that your resort is having the busiest season on record with great snowfall and that they are not getting the profits they anticipated makes me think that you work for a nameless resort that is part of a company that operates coast to coast (vail, alterra, boyne, powdr, etc.) Its crazy that the west can have such good conditions and results but the companies are reliant on everyone having good results and too much snow in cali and not enough on the east is effecting the bottom line. With increased wages industry wide, this years skier numbers are critical to justifying those wages (which are still just enough to scrape by in our resort communities) I’ve heard some other nameless resorts have to cut back and have now claimed “100% staffed” when they were still actively hiring. Crazy times.
