theabortionatorYeah not about this shit. 0 chance they're delivering on getting us food on our shift straight up not their falt there's like 100 plus people eating at the same time. Why fuck with it for us? I don't care. I have a kitchen. If people are gonna charge me for food I can't eat we have a big fucking problem though.
If we can't opt out ill walk. Good luck finding a park groomer at this point. The days of resorts having limitless apps are gone. Not trying to make a fuss that's not my jam but if you force me to pay for shit i can't have. Idk that's fucked
Talked to manager again and talked to HR today. HR was super mellow. I think whoever decision it is realizes it's an issue. My manager had already talked to them again(tried to get us this worked out before season and they said no)
There's only 4 employees here working nights(at least in grooming) so honestly makes way more sense for the kitchen staff to just feed people at the normal time. I have no issue with them not going out of the way to have food for me, I just don't want to pay for stuff I'm not getting.
Kitchen dude that was trying to make it work for us since we couldn't opt out was on strike apparently.
Idk, food is good when he's there, I'm down to eat on my days off if they want us doing it. I just don't want to miss out on sleep to get food, or pay for something I'm not getting. Went to dinner 2 mights ago, food was trash, and i was tired af all night. Still burning diesel but was less accomplished.
Last night got a bunch of sleep put in as many features as we did nght before by myself.
I'm still guessing they didn't want people to opt out and still get food and weren't just being dicks.
Personally I like to eat between noon and 3pm and then go to bed at 330 or 4. If I had to and they actually got me my food I'd eat it, but I'd rather not deal with it.
Also the last thing you need is extra strees or trying to work shit out with people. If I eat at home, I'm hungry, I cook food. Boom done.
I hope they're able to just make this happen. I don't want to have to throw a fuss about it. I've never even gone to HR for HR stuff in the years ive worked here. I just think its bullshit to be forced to pay for services you don't get. And it seems wild that that $7 is worth pissing off people who work nights. At worst even if you don't care about employees, I'm burning diesel all night, let me sleep, don't piss me off, and I'll get mad shit done.
I hate taking breaks in the cat so never do unless nothing to do. That's all good. I dig that. Just not paying 7 bucks for that dinner shit.
Then again you never know why places do the things they do. Allegedly a mtn I used to work at in Tahoe is paying 32 for groomers, possibly newish ones even. Idk wages have changes but 3years ago they were still letting people walk over a dollar or two am hour. People with a decade there and mad skills. Vail saw it as saving money hiring a rookie that prolly wouldnt stay more than 2 seasons over somebody that knows the mtn, the grooming patterns, can run snowmaking, etc.
I get that it's people sitting in a room trying to cut expenses but they do some dumb shit.
Idk, i got sleep yesterday and actually had a good night at work. Our HR people are good people too. Hoping they can resolve all the shit. Otherwise I love this place.
