I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

It’s terrible at HV. Can’t wait to try and get seven 5 year olds up the lift with this shit. And HV told all the lifties they have to scan no matter what but oml. i just rode the same lift prolly 20 times today and they wouldn’t let me on without scanning me everytime. IK it’s not the lifties fault but it’s so damn annoying that management was so worried about sharing passes or skiing with old day tickets.

/rant again but One of my idiot friends broke his arm while being a coach at hv trying a 7 off a side hit, some kid tried after him that watched, ate shit and sued the resort. Along with them having to pay him workers comp they got caught in off some BS lawsuit. Now we aren’t allowed to hit side hits or jumps in uniform and if supervisors or other employees see us they’re supposed to report us to the director of snowsports. ARE YOU FR. You‘re telling me I can’t hit side hits but the 7 five yearolds you trust me with can?? that’s the stupidest thing i’ve ever heard

Liftlines make even the most intelligent beings turn into absolutely useless individuals for some reason. Never understood it. Like how people don't understand Alternate signs. Its not an alternate lane, it means take your turn.

I hate my skis for this year. Last year, I broke my blizzard rustler 10's (completely split the tip) and needed warranty.

My plan was to sell the new warranty pair and buy some Line Blade Optics. I didn't have the time to do that whole ordeal before the season so I ended up skiing the new Blizzards that they sent me

And let me tell you. I am not one to complain about a fresh pair of sticks. But these things are bad. The swing weight feels so damn heavy you can barley get them around on 3s and they feel hooky on big turns. Its messed and now I'm stuck w them. Fuck blizzards shitty durability horrid brand way to heavy and not playful at all

I wish I coulda had the line blade optics.

LenntMy local park crew is absolutely heartless. We had a sick 4 feature line with a dope flat rail gap to down rail at the end and I guess last night they removed that last rail. So now its just the two rails at the top and an A frame wall rail thing. I asked a couple lifys and a patroller to see if they had any info why but no one knew. Im kinda bummed tbh it was lokey the most fun and well built feature in the park.

Also on an unrelated note it really bums me out when everytime I would go through the park yesterday there was a dude sitting on one of the rails. Then he would go do some mid ass rock to fakey thing and hike back up the middle of the run to the rail he would sit on. Had to ask him to move and he got all pissy and yelled something at me when I skiied by but I didnt hear him good tho bc I was listening to Chief Sosa. I didnt snap a pic while he was on the rail but heres a pic of the moron sitting on the side of the rails takeoff before he decided he wanted to straddle that big black pipe instead.

i just like the human interaction of having them check your tickets. there were rarely any problems with that system, except if someone just doesn't have the ticket. plus that means there will be people to direct the lines which people seem to have a problem understanding.

Everywhere I've been with RFID still has someone sorting out the line. As for human interaction, I don't miss having to pull out a pass or have someone awkwardly scan the ticket thats on me. RFID is so much easier, just keep the pass in it's own pocket away from other cards. Most coats has a sleeve pocket for them now.

i just mean that sometimes they don't have a guy out there (think vail) and it can get messy. sometimes there will be a guy there.

RFID may be easier for you but it's kind of embarrassing for you to admit that you had a problem with the old way of doing things, lines barely ever were stopped because of confusion/ not working properly/ etc. but now lines getting jammed because of people messing up on the RFID is a common, almost daily thing. and ppl who mess up on the RFID things aren't "stupid" either, it's a dumb machine that doesn't work very well

yea well I do this is the midwest and some of the lifties or scanner people get mad at you if you do this because their hill is too poor to have actual gates. Its their fault because if they want to see it they should have kept the tickets because a lot of the time there is nobody scanning and they come out to see if you have a ticket sometimes

RFID is a weird ass thing to rant about. If they remove passes and make you use a phone like rumors are suggesting I get it.

2 years ago my New Hampshire pass was amazing and reciprocal hills gave you a special ticket/card with a picture so you didn't have to pick something up every day but it wasn't a big deal when that changed. It only sucks when they RFID mid hill and you can't skin up to save money.

i'm not arguing that humans are faster. that's why there are hiccups on the rfid system. in theory the rfid is ultra efficient but in practice it's ultra innefficient. have you never used one? do you not notice the several times someone clogs up the line a day messing up the thing? and do you remember that happening once with manual scanning?

panoramas rfid thing is the biggest piece of dogshit ever made that thing rejects someones pass literally every run and causes a big mess and you get tackled by 4 lifties if you try to go thru anyway even tho it worked last run. and then you have to go wait at guest services forever with everyone else

but every other one i have used works completely fine

no i don't mean that because that doesn't clog up the lines in the same way that the rfid does. and if it's a big line, usally there'll be 2 ppl doing it and the other side can go if it's really that much of a problem. but with the rfid, everyone gets funneled so if someone's stuck then there's really no getting around it without getting messy :) :)

The hilldale, verona, and university parts of madison are relatively untouched, loaded with spots and most have natural speed. Fr would be good places to hit. Glad boarding crews like the Dustbox and brydens crew have came out to WNY and Pittsburgh and northern PA. Just refreshing to see clips from somewhere other than the twin cities, quebec, salt lake or boston

yea i would say so, they have a super sick park usually and its a big hill. i have never hit a good powder day there but there is lots of side hits and fast stuff. personally i prefer it to KH but that is just because there is no park at kicking horse

Just because you have a truck doesn't mean you're invincible in snow.

All these dumb asses in tacomas and 1/2 ton trucks blow my mind by how shit they drive. Constant fishtails and getting in ditches around here. Saw one in the snow onw to bridger today. People in clapped out subarus drive better here.

And within every five lifts someone cant get through and its gets all messed up and backlogged. I liked the hand scan especially end of the day after 30 laps they just wave you through. Super orderly with someone directing traffic.

Nah this was like at least a 2011 Forester or more. But yes. Utah is full of the half-ton Lifted kooks. I love my '17 Colorado with snow tires so much. She goes.

apparently one of my friends went on this cruise thing over thanksgiving break and was... a little promiscuous. which is fucking wierd, u could never tell that he's lovin the way he does from the way he acts. just today he and another kid were sitting on each other's desks, sticking out their butts and then getting up and sniffing where their butts had been. i mean it was pretty fucking stupid but the teacher wasn't doing anything about it so it was kind of funny. anyway just a little odd

also what's up with people lie, having sex... and doing everything... except kissing? like ppl have sex before their first kiss nowadays

New housing arrangement has meals included which is cool I guess but also shit. Dude has been killing it making decent food for lots of people. Thing is we work night shift. Boss tried to opt us out they said no. They'd make it work. So far it's not working. On my off days i can get food easily and its generally good. I'm happy.

But it's been an issue getting food working nights. You can't ask us to skip sleep or wake up and try to go back to sleep for grave. You can't ask swing to not work i guess to get food.

I get that it's probably based on not wanting people to not pay and still go. But wtf. I dont need to be stressing tracking down food im paying for working grave shift i have a fucking kitchen.

Maybe call it in the middle and pay half and have a check in sheet for us night guys if we go an extra well check the box.

Idk not trying to rip the mtn off on $7 meal but sure as fuck am not getting ripped off for that. Mtns have fucked people over too much. Crystal actually treats employees well but if im paying for it, can't get it, and can't opt out. I might have to tell em I'm walking. I've never used that as a power move and not really about it but mtns have stolen from me too many times. Not paid enough for that.

Fucking hope they work it out but wish we could just opt out. If they succeed what am i gonna get something thrown in a box and set in a heater for 4 hours?

Idk, we're not super hyped. Don't fuck with the night guys. Especially if they're responsible for getting/keeping the mtn open.

Tbh it likely depends on the receiving system. The ski resorts that use low sensitivity rfid gates with sensors only on one side, super high up in a small box, are bad. I've been to ones that are really good, either side identifies the card and have a wide vertical range they can scan. Cruise right through. People are stupid as well and don't follow explicit directions. Like it literally says don't put under your 16 layers inside your wallet but people still do. I've never had issues with rfid gates because I'm not a moron.

Manual scanning still takes longer. Half the people aren't even ready for it. And with rfid you can pay less people to have the same outcome.

So get this. We are getting massacred at work lately, absolutely destroyed. We have been asking to modify the work flow to our direct manager for months to no avail. This person doesn't understand what we do, mainly because they oversee too many areas, and often our responsibilities are downplayed. So yesterday we had a meeting about an unrelated topic with our chief...not manager...not director, but chief officer of our department- head honcho. They casually ask how it has been and of course we tell em straight without disparaging anyone. Well apparently they had a chat with my manager about the work flow and was pushing for a temporary change considering current workload. Today my manager comes by and tells my coworker they need to "sit down and chat sometime today". This son of a gun doesn't believe us and has the audacity to circumvent their boss's wishes. Jeeeeeeeesssssuuuuusssssss always good to remember why I'm leaving this fucking place, my God.

I don't care. I have a kitchen. If people are gonna charge me for food I can't eat we have a big fucking problem though.

If we can't opt out ill walk. Good luck finding a park groomer at this point. The days of resorts having limitless apps are gone. Not trying to make a fuss that's not my jam but if you force me to pay for shit i can't have. Idk that's fucked

This is literally my job. Get up at 5 am. Cook all day long for rich fucks in a chaotic kitchen. Go to the gym. Cook and clean for myself. Sometimes I sleep really well

420 options knocked me out back in the day , otherwise you gotta change up your routine or something. Nothing worse than not getting sleep, can go crazy

Oh man yea 420 has been my best friend but I'm trying to quit because it's making me lose my personality and motivation. Some friends have even commented on that.

Melatonin is very hit and miss and usually makes me feel hungover. NyQuil works but is more expensive and I care about my liver. Idk I gotta see a Dr about it. Gotta add it to the long list of docs I need to find and make an appointment with lol
