DominatorJacques'03 Forester with manual 5 speed and LSD rear. 210,000 + and still going strong with maintenance only. ( I do most of that myself)
1989 Accord Lxi. 347,000 miles, and I will race it this season. OG engine and transmission.
2005 Accord Coupe automatic. 198,000. Still strong!
Parts for the above cars are no big price tag.
I changed oil on all three today. Buy the highest quality oil filter, and oil. Take care of them, and they last.
German and some others will make you go broke!
I think I may go broke just trying to keep up with fixes on my Bigstupidamericantruck™, all I want is something smaller, manual, and hopefully more fuel efficient but the used market is so crazy, and the Bozeman used car market is slim pickings on top of that.
That generation of forester is near the top of my list, and a manual would be a must, however my mom is considering getting herself a new car and selling her '15 Outback to me with less than 100k on the clock for a deal, but it would be waaaay nicer than I really need, it drives pretty nice but the CVT is pretty soulless and a manual is really what I'm craving.
My first car was a 2000 Accord manual and I dearly dearly miss it, my sister drives an '07 Accord V6 automatic and it's got some decent pep. I honestly would totally buy another Accord but there are a few trailheads that I frequent the most in the summer where a FWD sedan would struggle, I really wouldn't be all that concerned with FWD winter drivability with some good snow tires. Snow tires really weren't necessary for the driving I did in my Accord in Denver and even when It was truly slick it was manageable for commuting on all seasons, and an absolute blast to rip around in an empty parking lot and do some e-brake drifting. I miss that car so fucking much, my BIL's brother (my sister's brother in law?) drives it now and last I heard the only major repairs he has needed to do to it is a new clutch, that I admittedly fried from all of my high school hooning and abuse I dished out to it.
I'm such an indecisive person that I'll honestly most likely keep driving my bigstupidtruck until it is undriveable and then likely have to deal with that logistical PITA of having to buy a car from another state to get something that I actually want.
Maybe the best answer is a Miata.
