Yeah I know there were some rant threads over the years grinds my gears and whatever. I don't think any of them were that happening to dig up. I probably made one of them honestly. Whatever.

I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

This is actually legit. My ex didn't have anything that really got her going (except bitching at me) and she'd always complain about I was "too obsessed with _______ (skiing, airplanes, cars, hunting...ect). Always pissed me off until I realized that she didn't have anything she was passionate about, and was unable to empathize with my feelings. I also used to work with a guy like that. Was driving him to work one day, and asked him what he liked doing. He replied "uhh...hanging with my girlfriend...and playing video games I guess". Like jesus that seems like a kinda lame existence. Or maybe its better, cause those people are very easily satisfied? That's why they do shit like buy a boring car, or a house in the suburbs.

they should give psych-evals when you get your drivers license so you dont attempt murder after you cut somebody off and have a complete meltdown when they honk their horn at you for swerving in front of them and slowing down to a near stop to turn off the road

BiffbarfI just got the overwhelming sensation that way too may people are milquetoast squares that are either too scared to be who they really want to be or have been constantly surrounded by mediocrity that they simply just don't know any better. Now, I know this isn't the case and I understand that it's probably a me problem I just can't figure out why I feel the way I feel. Is it that people don't outwardly express their passions? Is everyone just a walking talking hollow shell? Why does it bother me so much that the majority of cars on the road are crossover suvs?

I think that social media has just made people so dumb because they are constantly entertained that normal life isn’t interesting. At my high school like 90% of the kids watch TikTok for like 3-4 hours a day and and it’s making people dumb. For example this there is a person in one of my classes who is so addicted to technology she forgot headphones and was freaking out and asked like 20 people if they had headphones because we had to write an essay and seems scared to just focus On one thing in silence and Ive never seen her not doing work without Snapchat or YouTube and I think it’s made it so people would rather just sit and be dumb instead of doing something beneficial and enjoyable because it’s easy and comfortable in the short term

Ik the lifty was just doing his job but why couldn’t he just let us put 6 people on Morningstar (4person express that services HV’s park). We had just done 5 and he didn’t do anything and then we had 6, everyone fit perfectly and he stops the lift makes us get off and yelled at us and had ski patrol yell at us like fuckkk off dude, we’re just having fun cause the park has had the same 5 features since Christmas

Dude you're a fuckin dumbass. Ya gotta realize, that if someone sees you, that lifty is getting in major shit. Hell, if his manager is in a bad mood, he's getting fired. Maybe he didn't quite notice you put 5 on, maybe he thought you guys were just gonna do it once and then let it go. Shit, maybe he was a little blazed and didn't realize until you tried to get 6 dudes on. It's not his fault that the park hasn't had a feature upgrade. It's not even under his control, he's just some dude trying to get by making minimum wage. If you've got a problem with the park, talk to park crew. Fuckin volunteer to help put some new shit or something. Honestly though, the reason the park hasn't had a new build is probably because management doesn't give a shit. So take it up with management. Don't get pissed at low level staff who have 0 control over anything. They get fucked over all day by management, they don't need to be getting shit from some degen kids too.

I have talked to park crew. Half them are lame and don’t really care the other half are pissed their shafted by management. We were just tryna find something fun to do. I totally understand why he couldn’t let us go up

I saw a group of 4 kids all with identical dope snow jackets, all wearing very similar backpacks, all with one one of those big hood facemask things that go over helmets, only difference was the color of the hood thingy and it reminded me of this.

I’ve seen this so much recently. They all match and they all have Blenders goggles. All the colors are like pastel colors too I don’t get it.

I feel this. Throw in lodging, travel costs, etc. for people traveling and its an even tougher sell. Plus IFSA ticket discounts aren't that much sometimes, you're still shelling out 90-100+/day for skiing.

There needs to be some mini local circuits that are easy on travel and are all about bringing people into an area for a weekend or something. I know insurance is hard and its hard to get resorts to get on-board but i am also tired of IFSA FWQ just being a bunch of rich ski academy kids.

Yep exactly. Spent the last couple years trying to get a freeride club running at my college but with covid nonsense, ridiculous entry fees and absolute pea brain event scheduling it's hard to get even a few people out to each comp. At this point I'm just gonna start setting up bootleg minicomps to give people without a trust fund the slightest chance at enjoying freeride. As gaffney said "skiing's getting a little bit too serious"

also make sure you read reviews. the sleeves on my alpha SV are ABSURDLY long for some reason. it's not unwearable but they're certainly very long

I’m looking at the beta LT or SL depending on if I can find a decent deal on the LT or not. Tried both on already and with layers on so Ik what size I am. I know two people who use them as a shell with a puffer or fleece underneath. And I sweat like mad with just a TNF shell that has a super thin liner and a Patagonia Synchilla or soft shell when it’s cold and just the TNF shell when it’s like 20-30 and it’s still to warm. Wind just rips through my Patagonia soft shell tho :/

A lot of their womens jackets are offered in maroon, purple, different shades of green or blue. The mens are mostly just green, black, blue or red

my boss seriously wants to get up at 3:45am to drive from SLC to Targhee to get an extra day of skiing in, which sounds cool, but he's salty the group isn't on board with it and they want to drive up later instead and have a mellow travel day before a big weekend of comps. Chill bro these kids need rest and so do we.

I respect him, what he does, and the opportunity I'm given this season and we do get compensated for travel days, but yeah dude....we were getting up way-too-damn early in BC for a week straight and I feel like the fatigue cost us some quality skiing and comp results. We opted for like 5:30-6am ish and to get up there around mid-day to bust out some laps and check out the competition venues so there was some compromise. But yeah according to what I am seeing as far as weather, Had there be no comp this week Id be getting my ass out of bed no earlier than 10.
