Easily 😁 which is why I recommend starting a landscape business to so many.
I own my own business for 1, we do about 380 (40 in house) grocery and gas stations in oh, ny ,pa,md ,area, handful of churches, care homes and schools, the income is insane, in the winter we do snow, I also have but do for free, 24 of my original residential customers, I started cutting lawns when I was 12.
I also am a manager for a landscape company, I built my company working there, they had the contract I have now, lost it, and when it went back for bid I got it, I’ve kept it for 6, and intend to for quite some time, we do everything from lot sweeping to all the landscape, signs, painting, soffit and fascia repair, trees, construction and paving gets subbed.
In the beginning I only took cash from my own jobs, the company I worked for “banked” all my work hours and received targeted checks so I could manipulate the unemployment and welfare system, I now do this for my employees, most of them are $60k-$100k/yr guys who get food stamps and unemployment benefits, Health insurance, and when you do this for your employees, they work hard, took some time to build valuable employees that I can trust, they all understand this company is for “us” we have the same goals, I also have rental units I’ve bought and fixed over the years, free housing for me visa workers, Mexicans work inherently hard, and when you treat them like the people they are, holy shit, I got a guy that spreads 40+ yards of mulch per day for 40 days by himself, incredible. My main man Priscilliano and I will bang out 2 or 3 concrete driveways per year back in the day @9$ a square, concretes very lucrative as well, gave me amigo $10k for one days work, he cried and has been nothing short of a loyal employee and bodyguard since.
finally anyone can do this, if your too young to drive, cut lawns for your neighbors and learn to be professional you’ll be amazed what happens, eventually it’s will you mulch, will you this, will you that, I started with a push mower, then car and mower and so on, also, learn accounting, if you can’t go to school, befriend one and learn, between depreciation of vehicles, I basically get trucks for free, perk of being a business owner is the tax breaks, and knowledge all the laws, loopholes etc.
twinkle_toesHow do u manage to pay rent in the winter.. ? Living in a ski town isnt cheap !
Finally I’m the type, I’d ruin my whole life spending, especially skiing, I just love to ski, it’s such a part of me, I’ve never been able to control spending I buy buy buy , very irresponsible, there was a time I didn’t need to afford it , just had to find a way and suffer the consequences later.
