Trying to sell my Jeep on Craigslist and literally everyone who's contacted me has been a scammer. Facebook marketplace won't let me list it because my asking price is "Too high". I live in a very small house (technically a garage apartment) with two other roommates. My parents leave in three days and I somehow need to find a way to get this kid to and from his school every day and find him a place to sleep without disturbing my roommates too much.

There's a god awful rattling noise coming from inside the wall in this shitty student apartment. Some kind of pipe or vent issue? No idea but my sleep is going to suffer tonight. It's very reassuring to know I'll be temporarily out of this shithole in two weeks.

Social media is already starting with this one. It looks like she tried to stab this other girl and the cop shot her. What are you supposed to do, ask nicely to not stab this girl to death? All the usual outlets are making it sound like something entirely different happened. Glad I'm not a cop. These people made an unfavorable outcome highly likely and this officer had to deliver it.

And yeah the age thing is annoying. The whole point of a deadly weapon, gun or knife, is to make it easy for literally anybody to kill another person. Go explain to the other girl's mom that her daughter is dead, but it's fine because just a kid with a knife stabbed her.

"What de-escalation efforts did the officer use on the scene?" Dude had taken all of three steps out his the car before the girl was running around trying to stab people. What the hell is he supposed to do? The scene had fully escalated before he could even understand what the scene was.

I pay 85 bucks a month for hypothetical 400 Mbps internet. I get an average of 30 or 40, with it randomly completely disconnecting all the time. This ISP is pretty much the only one here and this kind of bullshit pisses me off to no end. Fortunately it hasn't affected any tests or homework yet but the number of times it's fucked with a game or video...

Ethernet to a desktop. My house is wired in cat5. Not sure bout the type of router but its new as of January and pretty bulky. Never had any wifi issues when the ethernet is doing great. Like we sometimes can stream multiple 4k videos to my wifi tv or roommates laptop, etc. Whenever it disconnects, it's usually for like 5-20 seconds but once it was for about 5 minutes. Usually my ping isn't terrible but my packet losses are.

application stated all i need is a fucking bachelors and 1 year experience. I have a masters. A freaking masters. Im graduating top of my freaking class.


ON TOP OF THAT I have 2 years of teaching experience...which is one of the experiences they count. ON TOP OF THAT...I have two years working in a lab doing analysis....ON TOP OF THAT....I have 6 months experience interning at the same fucking department as this job. ON TOP OF THAT.....I have taken 8 graduate level classes on statistics, analysis, SAS use etc.


They stated I need one year of experience in statistics, analysis, research, or educating groups. OR....not and. Either way I have it.

What's the connection like into the house? Where does the coaxial cable start and end?

The coaxial cable could need replacing. It's not common, but I know it's possible. We had a similar issue at my ski house this past year and we thought it was ethernet cables, then router, then modem, before finally figuring out it was the exterior coaxial cable that needed replacing.

Have you tried a different router? How about modem? Are you running your modem in bridge mode?

If I was you, I'd try a new router first (see if a friend has one you can borrow), then ask your provider for a new modem (assuming you don't have your own), before calling in a tech to examine your coaxial cables. You could try asking them to come in to check the cables, but they may tell you to do the router and modem first.

FWIW bulky router doesn't mean a good one. I doubt it is the router given your ability to stream multiple videos but you never know.

Bummed i cant go back this year but maybe some day. Honestly was hoping it would pan out this year because gig in Australia is a better fit. So when the borders open up more next year that's probably where ill be.

But hoping to find good work this summer that i like like enough/am not terrible at lol.

This fucking rich prick just got a grand worth of msnow and a 600$ pvc tube along with turf under it all and landing. Ik I shouldn’t be jealous cause that and desire cause suffering or sadness. But I got job to pay for my skis and worked odd jobs to pay for my bike. This asshole makes the park a shitty environment all because his entitled ass gets to go to pc early season and spring, plus killi, breck and copper. Not to mention he would keep bragging about how he’s going to windells and copper for multiple weeks this summer. 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼 Just makes me upset kids like this are asses and still get stuff handed to them. He’s not even that good either and here I am paying 5$ A time to use the town pools diving board to gain some air awareness when kids like him have an inground tramp. Ahhhhh just makes my head hurt. I shouldn’t be jealous cause I’m a better person and a lot nicer and try to make the park a good place. But sometimes it just gets to my stupid head

Folks tend to remember people for who they are as a person, not what their latest spin trick is. Hell my neighbor is a LEGEND at our mountain and he hasn´t done a ski trick in 30 years, but has amazing vibes.

I’ve seen it. Yeah idk maybe I’m just bummed about not rly progressing this year cause I lost vision in one eye and had a minor knee injury like 2nd week of the season. Usually I just go with the flow but since the season started coming to an end I felt like I needed to learn stuff cause pretty much every kid Ik is going to some sort of summer ski camp and here I am just trying to afford a pair of skis if mine get to beat next year. Idrk I’m whacked out rn and it’s like 1 am

Is all the CAT5 in your house run to a switch? Dropping packets can happen for many reasons.

the soul sucking is real..... it’s like the final scene in raiders of the lost arc where all the nazis get electrocuted, their souls light on fire, their faces melted off, and their heads exploded.... just like that except drawn out over the course of your career everyday for the rest of your life.

I blame the American work culture..... everyone above you on the chain is like “well I had to be overworked, underpaid, and miserable for 30 years before I could buy a house.... so now you do too.“

The salary abuse is so real it’s like... “oh, you didn’t want to work 75 hours this week, well I’m sorry we’re not willing to pay competitive wages to talented people, so it’s all on you now bud 😉”

then I’m like fuck.... am I ungrateful? I do have a good job w good bennies and I’m living comfortably, what’s the issue? Am I an ungrateful asshole??

truth is, I want that passive income!! Thinking about going all in on crypto/ ethereum! Show me da mf money !!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now. Eventually I think I will reach a breaking point and will have to find something else that almost guaranteed pays less, but for now I'm still (barely) able to justify the soul sucking bitch work for significantly higher than industry average pay for my experience level

But for real Id take a small cut right now, but the jobs around here are way below what I’d accept (like 20-30k below current salary). That just won’t cut it.

I was training to be a pilot but suffered an injury. Would love to find something in the field outside of actually flying, or something outdoors. Just none of those jobs pay nearly enough.

Were you the golf ball injury guy? That sucks either way, I've always thought being a pilot would be a dope career. What is your job at the moment? I'm a data analyst and honestly I don't even mind the work that much, it's mostly the company and management that drives me crazy. Would love to do something outdoors but like you said I just can't justify taking that fat of a pay cut. Sitting at a computer all day is just so draining, I hate how I feel mentally & physically after 10 hours of sitting.

Current goal is to get my hands on some rental properties as soon as I can, so I can supplement my income enough to work an outdoor industry job and not care that I'm making $15/hr

Yeah that’s me. I work in banking/finance. Actual company isn’t bad, it’s the job that kinda sucks. And I definitely feel guilty because I know a lot of people that would gladly take my job as a career and be happy for it.


Ive been looking for ways to supplement my income but as of now it’s just growing my portfolio. Pretty much impossible to buy property right now without a good chunk of change and sadly I don’t have it.

I thinking about doing something like this after I get my degree - a few years at a large public firm, then a transition to industry or government or whatever. Do you have any general advice for this kind of route? It seems pretty common in accounting as far as I can tell.
