Fucking Arthritis is keeping me from skiing.

All through January I was too busy at work to ski (despite whistler getting dumped on). Then as work finally calmed down I go into a huge flare and haven’t been able to ski since as a result(with whistler still getting dumped on).

I’ve got 3 days left on my whistler pass and no idea if I should try to get a refund at this point, or hold out and hope I get better in time for spring skiing.

Not sure what your laws are like there but here you could just throw all their shit out, swap locks and call it a day. This only works if the person shares your living space and doesn't have anything signed with the landlord. If they aren't on the lease they don't have a right to be there especially if they are violating your rights. So if he threatens or causes harm to you and he has no dealings with the landlord you could call the cops and have him gone same day.

I forgot how much of a shitshow Mountain Creek can be, for all you Nj people. Haven't been there in years. Some shiny silver space suit guy with no mask was holding up the line, then his girlfriend was clogging up the part you push off to get to the lift. Also no head coverings or anything on this dude and it's pretty windy and cold for that.

Later I was standing at the bottom and was about 10ft from getting hit by a "I only stop by falling" dude just sliding his way through the area near the lift lines.

Also I lost my ski on a bad nosebutter 5 attempt (brake maybe caught when landing switch?) and there's people who can clearly see me trying to collect my ski hitting the feature anyway and basically landing on me.

He would talk shit on people all day, and would like criticize every little thing about people’s skiing. Like c’mon, they’re like 8 year olds, so what if they’re straight airing jumps. And having a conversation was impossible because he thought he was right about literally everything. Like dude stfu and just have some fun, fucking chill out

Got a guy and his daughter demoing skis today, we have a ski they want but our other store has the size they want. It won’t make it up here til the afternoon and he’s come in to swap skis 3 times and every time he asks if the ski made it up here I’ve told him no and I can’t guarantee it, just did again and for 5 seconds he stared at me and I just look back at him and explained that they usually come up at 8am or 6pm and he just whined about it like it’s my god given duty to go do other stores work. Also said that my store only demos free ride skis really and that our other one, literally a 40 second walk away will have narrower skis he can go to, once again just stood there until I said “ok I guess ILL go down there for you” for the 5th time today. If you’re at PC rn and see a dad with a yellow spiky helmet cover, spray his Jerry ass.

Literally the same dude, as I said in my rant above yours. It’s great to find some person a new ski to try and buy, and go in depth and talk about skis, but 90% of the time it’s Jerry’s who just need a basic rental ski, and if it’s a Jerry getting demo skis I literally just answer their questions before they ask me it 5 times after. My coworkers are longtime boarders and have dealt with so many returned boots (even though they’re fucked the first run they use it) and it’s always cause it’s too big when they repeat that they say it should feel snug and tight. Idk what your job is but I feel for you, cause I get to deal with Jerry’s at PC and oh my god especially during vacation times I genuinely wonder how these people make good money with their brains.

I'm a fitter/ski tech, so I deal with the same shit all the time. I had a guy come in today asking for some boot recs. I fitted him like usual, and got him in a boot that fit him and met his requirements (Dalbello Panterra 120). He said his buddy has Full Tilt TW pros and that he wanted to get the same ones because his buddy says they are great. I explained to him that the fit/flex is TOTALLY different and that he would most likely not have a good time skiing in them.

He then went on to say that he was skeptical because the Dalbello's were snug on him and he wanted something with more room, so I explained that you want a snug fit for maximum control in ski boots, but he kept saying that he thought the TW pros would fit him. I said that the TWs have a skinnier last and that it would not make it any better. He said he would talk to his friend about it and probably buy something online.

Idk, it's really not that bad but I just don't understand people sometimes.

Ahh yeah man, rental tech here so yeah we see the same shit pretty much, except we don’t sell ski boots and very few skis this season just cause covid shit, mainly board stuff. That’s just hilarious though man, I feel like it’s natural selection with those people, we get people who almost buy a board or boot, then say they know a guy, or have a friend in SLC who can help instead and just waste our time basically. At this point I just kinda force people to wear the tighter boots, I just straight up say you will have a bad time if your foot is sliding around, even cruising it’s not a good time, but I also just give up at times and let em deal with it and have a comfy lift ride for a shitty time going down.

This sort of thing has been bugging me a lot lately. People need to learn shut off their ego and just be psyched that everyone is having fun. You don’t need to be a critical dick all the time.

At the tow rope rail park this weekend there was this little kid, probably 7 or 8, trying to learn rails. He kept bailing out after going off the lip and he would land straddling the rail. Some guy was like “Wtf is up with this dumb kid nut sliding the rail.” I was like “Chill man, he’s just having fun and tying to learn, we all have to start somewhere” and the guy was like “I don’t fucking care, if he’s in my way I’m going to plow him over”. This really rubbed me the wrong way.

If someone doesn’t understand park etiquette or is standing in a landing, that’s one thing, but please even in those situations just nicely explain to the kid how they shouldn’t do what they’re doing. Be a mentor not an ass.

usually you can get a pretty good straightforward answer from for example a guitar forum. I sometimes look at r/bozeman and r/msucats just to see what’s going on locally
