lapinnopeini don't believe that's the case. bc i think those parents are simply too lazy to look into what kinda group their kids should be in. i see this sometimes, parents just want some alone time and will drop their kids in any lesson/group that will take them. also our ski resort is the most popular in finland so i think the instructions on our lessons are quite clear.
e.g last season i had 180min two days in a row with two kids aged 6&8, they didn't speak a word of english or any other language i could communicate in and i could tell their parents were fed up with them and just wanted to enjoy their alone time.
I had this issue as a coach earlier this season. We had just over 100 or so kids sign up for team training this winter, which is almost double the amount that we had last year, a lot of it due to parents moving from other parts of the country and living in a ski town all winter like many other people haha.
They unfortunately treat team activities like ski daycare which is extremely frustrating as a coach, and takes away from the athletes who do actually want to put-in some work and learn something. We're talking kids who barely ski 5 days out of the year getting grouped up with kids who are IFSA Jr. athletes who ski at least 80+ days a year or more.......Parents definitely questioned why their child wasn't improving and you honestly just have to give it to them straight: Their skill levels just aren't up there and its hurting the groups, and we give them the options to still ski with the team but with the development side of things or just tell them to at least go take a few lessons. It sucks haha. Parents think that just because they brought their kid to Deer Valley a few times, they're gonna be ski prodigys. Not happening.
People seriously forget that you do need to practice, practice, practice in order to get good at anything, and you just can't show up to the resorts expecting all these skills to hit you one day. Not everyone has the opportunity to grow up and learn how to ski + have parents that made it a regular routine for the family, but just because you're rich and you ski doesn't mean shit.
