I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

This is petty af but I don't care.

Your car has more than 2 heater and fan settings. Use them. It drives me wild when people just constantly toggle full heat on and off. For short drives it doesn't matter. More than 20 mins or so get your climate control shit together. Please.

not really a Golf nut myself but with how bad this winter has been in Utah, it definitely wouldn't be a big deal if it got warmer and courses started opening back up in March.....Would much rather be mowing greens and fairways right now. Working at resorts this year fucking bloooooooooooooooooooows

I was driving up this morning past east canyon and looked at the mtb trail from the summit down to the dell course area and got the urge to ride since it’s so sunny. Gonna be skiing park and doing stuff around the house honestly, no motivation to go ski hardpack lines really. Crowds aside the only issue I’m having is low ass tide, and reminding customers to put a mask on all day.

Roommate complains about getting lost, 2 montha in because people call things by different names or different sections. Like dude, fuck it, just learn where shit is.instead of calling it by the trail map and getting lost just kesrn it. Fuck dude you only needed to know like 3 pick points and msybe 5 trails total. Fuck names its not that hard to figure it out even if it was abcd.


Then was trying to call our smaller park disco "start park. I was like itrs disco, he was like i csl it start park. Im like motherfucker thats why you get lost because you dont fucking listen.


He's ok in a machine but damn dude. Ive been here the same amount of time. I pretty much groom parks and i know where most of your winch runs are and could probably find the pick points, know the travel routes snd i know a decent amount of the rest of the mountain. Stop bitching that somebody calls one or two trails by old names and just learn it. Hell people call specific pitches and sections names, thats not on the map either. Just learn it.


I could lead our trail guys through most of their if not all of their shit that we pack groom and im new and im the park guy.

Idk, just learn it and stfu. Were a month and a half in. I was doing some of our free groom laps myself to help out my second week. Its not rocket science.

the cottonwoods dont seem to be skiing too bad, but yeah its turning into bulletproof conditions soon here. Its pretty fast though and its fun to nuke groomers and launch sidehits/jib all over the place. i cant believe how much work the wind has done on this place though, ive never seen the Pipeline loook like this ever, almost all the snow blew off into road to provo which makes it some brutal skiing

gonna text my bosses from the summer this week and see if they got any work or something, maybe working on mowers or some shit idk.

Man what the heck, it's only been 24 hours since I broke my collarbone while skiing and I'm already feeling depressed asf. Like I can't actually believe I did this and need surgery done. I'm 17 and I know once I go to college I'm definitely not going to be able to ski as much and it just sucks so much that I may have just ended one of my last high school seasons this early. This season was already starting off as one of my best ever too. Doubled the number of rail trick variations I've ever learned in only a month, started attempting inverts, and on top of that my home mountain got new park management and it's been better in the first 3 weeks of being open than in it's prime all of last season. Still cannot believe I messed this all up for me, never been in so much pain in my life too, can barely walk without feeling the pain of chards of bones crunching, rubbing, and cracking in my shoulder. Also, I VERY MUCH DISLIKE playing lacrosse. I wake up every day of the season miserable asf knowing I have to get yelled at and beat to sh*t later that day and ironically I should be fully healed right as it starts which absolutely blows, i'd hope to at least be able to ski. Can't not play lacrosse either, looks good playing a sport all four years for college application and also don't want my dad to think I'm an absolute loser and quitter. Also just realized I'm probably not gonna be able to take my driver's test in less than a month. Well, this took unnecessarily long to type with one hand, just needed to get it off my chest.

Thats rough. Collarbones might be the moat inconvenient injuries since you can't really put it in a cast. I know right now it kind of feels like everything you have going for you is crashing down wuth your injury but I assure its gonna be alright. Depending on where you go to school you can still ski a ton, if you schedule your classes well you could ski weekdays and really get laps in. Personally I've skied way more in college than I did before. As for the lax thing I really wouldn't worry to much about missing a season if you're burnt out on it. Unless you're looking to play in college you'll be alright, the school won't care you didn't do 4 seasons. I gave ul swimming my senior year cause I was burnt out and had shit going on in life and it turned out to be the right choice for me. Keep your head up, don't let this become a downward spiral that follows you around longer than it needs too. Hoping you have a speedy and smooth recovery.

Dude quit lacrosse. I’m in my junior year and soccer was in the fall but I’ve already decided no way I’m playing again next year. The coach is a douchebag and i just don’t love the sport like I used too. I had the same situation with my dad and I just talked to him about how I didn’t want to play anymore and that I was gonna learn to play an instrument in my free time. If you dread doing something you don’t have to, why keep doing it?

Same, but on longer drives it seems people like to yo-yo between off and full blast and ignore all the comfortable middle settings that aren't freezing or melting.

Same situation, different sport. Idk why I don’t quit, just don’t wanna be a no sport athlete ig. Just wish I could ski man, it’s crazy to me that kids show up to lax games just as excited to play as I am to ski comps. Wish that was me

On the bright side, the year has been pretty shit so far. I'm in QC right now and there is barely any coverage. Hopefully I can say it's different by mid Feb and numbers drop to a reasonable level by then.

Injuries happen, not your fault. I skied more in college so don't worry about that. Sounds like your parents just want you to be successful, not a terrible wish, but what someone else defines as success might not match your definition. Don't be afraid to quit. What happens when you go off to college but the program you signed up for isn't what you thought it would be? If you stick it out it will be a waste of money and if you stick to that career path you might be making money but you won't live a happy life. You sound stressed out, you are still young, things will be ok, and again don't be afraid to quit something you don't enjoy juat because someone else tells you that it will look good on an application.

i quit lacrosse as well when I was a junior in high school 10 years ago because it overlapped too much with ski season and I liked skiing so much more. would highly recommend.

It was an easy decision that I have never regretted

i might have to miss my Level1 class through the AAI which feels like a sign from the universe that this is just not the season to be fucking with backcountry skiing in the west. Its been a heck of an educational experience learning this winter but this is a season where its hard to find low-consequence feedback-rich learning environments.

and yeah if anyone in Utah is looking for a class, there might be an opening for the Park City one through White Pine Touring and the AAI. You'll be going out of the gates at the Canyons.

Not a bad year to take it if you can make it still, unless we get snow right before it you won’t go out there I bet, but right now it’s a good time to learn about a shitty snowpack structure, and results are kinda inconsistent too which makes you think about where to go more. Had a way harder to get result today on a similar aspect to a guy on UACs story earlier on 9990. Few might say otherwise, but it ain’t stable.

Everyone knows fucking your friends generally can be weird. I try to avoid it. First I don't hit on my friends, and most of my friends I'm not really into anyway. Something about being friends I don't look at them that way. But even if I did I try not to both out of not wanting things to get weird, or respect for the fact that it's likely not their jam.


I sometimes find myself in the predicament of being open about being gay. People coming out to me is no big deal, I'm there for them, that's great. But also get the weird situations where friends want to hook up. I've done it a few times, but sometimes it's kinda weird. If it felt natural, or we were drunk or whatever yolo, but sometimes it just comes out of nowhere.

Just had a friend we were talking about guitar and then starts sending me nudes. I was like oh fuck. Idk, I just don't want to ruin or make long time friendships weird. People that I've known for 10 years, been all over the place with.

Idk, I don't really have any issues getting laid when I want to so I'm not desperate. And I also really value some of these friendships. Even if it was fun I don't want that awkward vibe to the friendship that can come.

Also then sometimes run into the vibe where people don't know what they want, and get all weird. I had one I hooked up with that would send me messages on facebook out of the blue about his girlfriend. I'm like sick, dude go away, I don't care. Or another that was in a relationship and then felt super bad and tried to make it out like it was my fault. I was like bitch you initiated this all the way. Sure I was there, but come on.

Idk, I guess with this one we don't live anywhere near each other, so maybe I'll just send him some dick pics lol. He seems like he could handle this without being weird. Trading nudes with friends is kind of weird at least at this point in my life but whatever.

I just finished a small landscape job for a client yesterday - paver driveway, stone steps and a patio. When I finished, she refused to pay me the remaining balance on the contract.

I put a paver ramp on the side of the steps between the driveway and patio, just because there was room and I had some extra pavers. This wasn't part of the contract and I didn't charge extra for it, I just suggested it and she liked the idea because some of her old ass friends are in wheelchairs.

When I was done with the job, she said she wanted the ramp to be wider than it is. I told her that I'd be happy to make it bigger, but that i would have to charge extra for that. She then refused to pay me for the original job unless I widened the ramp for free.

I fucking hate people. My only options at this point are to put a lien on her house and/or take her to small claims court. I will easily win in small claims court as I have a signed contract from her outlining the details of the job, but I will still likely never get paid. Its damn near impossible to collect on judgements from small claims court.

It's taking every ounce of self control I have not to go cut her Mercedes in half with one of my stone saws.

Anyone who scams contractors should have their fucking legs broken.

Lol got Denny’s this morning because it’s the only breakfast place around open for take out. I got sunny side up eggs and somehow they the bottom was burned and the egg white was still runny at the same time. Also the avocado was brown...



I might complain and that’s saying something because the only time I’ve ever complained at a restaurant was when they put nuts on my salad after I told them I was allergic. And even then I didn’t complain I just asked for a new one lol

I put a paver ramp on the side of the steps between the driveway and patio, just because there was room and I had some extra pavers. This wasn't part of the contract and I didn't charge extra for it, I just suggested it and she liked the idea because some of her old ass friends are in wheelchairs.

When I was done with the job, she said she wanted the ramp to be wider than it is. I told her that I'd be happy to make it bigger, but that i would have to charge extra for that. She then refused to pay me for the original job unless I widened the ramp for free.

I fucking hate people. My only options at this point are to put a lien on her house and/or take her to small claims court. I will easily win in small claims court as I have a signed contract from her outlining the details of the job, but I will still likely never get paid. Its damn near impossible to collect on judgements from small claims court.

It's taking every ounce of self control I have not to go cut her Mercedes in half with one of my stone saws.

Anyone who scams contractors should have their fucking legs broken.

I might complain and that’s saying something because the only time I’ve ever complained at a restaurant was when they put nuts on my salad after I told them I was allergic. And even then I didn’t complain I just asked for a new one lol


Denny's is awful, I'm always amazed they managed to become so wide spread. The $3 grand slam from years ago was almost passable at the pricepoint

I thought about tearing everything out but it wouldn't really be worth it. I might go take the stone steps though, they weren't cheap.

True. If i lived closed id help you. I get it, sometimes the satisfaction is worth irt. Maybe I'm petty but I think most people hate some fucking asshole getting the better of them.

It sucks when really clear shit ends up like this, especially after you did extra. Fuck. These kind of assholes and thieves are in the same boat for me.

Yeah, when she refused to pay i read the contract to her again line by line, but it turns out she's just a cunt. Oh well. It will be the easiest court case ever, but who knows how long it'll take to actually collect from her.

Yeah I considered just destroying all of the work and leaving it. As satisfying as that would be, it would probably end up hurting my business in the long run. I live in a pretty small town and regardless of if I'm justified, it wouldnt be great for my reputation in the community.

how much of a financial hit are you taking? if its less than 2k id just eat it and then terrorize her house with small shit

It’s fun for sure, as someone small I can only point it down so much chunder before needing to put the brakes on, got new enforcers too so mainly hauling on the groomers and airing stuff I know isn’t rocky, my ARVs edges are basically done already lol. Looks like we might get something next weekend but a chance for high pressure to fuck us over after that again it seems.



Also what the fuck is up with parents thinking their kid doesn’t need a mask in stores? More of a cesspool for germs than most people honestly
