Yeah I know there were some rant threads over the years grinds my gears and whatever. I don't think any of them were that happening to dig up. I probably made one of them honestly. Whatever.

I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

I see a lot of similarities between nixon and trump, but I honestly believe trump's a jackass idiot while nixon was brilliantly evil

I got a job as a maintenance man in an apartment complex that is a complete slum. Like half the buildings here should honestly be condemned. I’m good friends with the exterminators because they are here almost every day. Roaches and bed bugs in at least one unit per building. It doesn’t even matter how shitty your repair job is as long as it gets done. Management asked me to fix a staircase today. I got hired to do plumbing and HVAC. I don’t know shit about carpentry. 5 minutes of me watching youtube videos yielded a better staircase than any of the other stairs on the entire property. The other maintenance guy took me on a tour of the property when I first arrived. We walked past an obviously homeless man sleeping in one of the basements and the other guy didn’t even acknowledge him

AbiHI am sooooooooooooooo aggravated right now.

it took me six hours to attach my camper to my truck to take it to the camper store double check and make sure that it was ultra safe for long distance. Guess what they said??? It wasn’t. Now I have to re-design how my truck camper is attached to my truck. Pretty freaking aggravating that this camper is keeping me from ski season when the original intention was to have it so I could ski full time easier.


the beginning of this season just feels like a replay of last season and it really has me down right now.


What did they say was not safe?

Idk. Dont wanna bitch too much about ski industry deetz on website for skiing. But just less than stellar plans that didn't make sense, things getting fucked up, etc. Also we're opening a park today, would have set 4 rails which wouldnt have been bad but only got one because other shit went down.

Idk. I hope they dont post about opening it. Kinda sad. Also down rail in is significantly shorter than what i wanted but ither rail was frozen, too big for me, and didnt have holes for switch blade forks. Shes crisp but short.

Idk i just stress over shit because i want everything to be sick, and I hate when its not, especially when it's not weather, budget, etc.

I should have jumped in a winch for the season

People like me at least and thinknI do a good job. Idk just not someone to coast. I want things to be as good as they can be all the time or I get frustrated I guess. I want to roll home stoked about the product out there even if im not riding that day. Also being Christmas even would have been nice to have a nice set of rails in the new park.

Depending on who you took it to they are going to tell you it isn’t right(to their standards). They are just covering their asses like a tire shop saying they won’t mount tires because they are the wrong size or different from what they know. If you feel like it will hold and you have others telling you the same, I’m sure you are good. Is it going to go flying off if a car was to hit you again(bad example of course) but that’s how you need to look at it. If you feel confident then send it! Merry Christmas!

I feel like shit - as expected the day after getting a vaccine. It happens all the time and is a sign that your body is mounting an immune response. Blah blah blah. I don’t want to go to my cousins but if I don’t they’re gonna be all “THE VACCINE IS DANGEROUS” and I just don’t have time for that bullshit lol.

it’s not that I dislike anti covid vaxers. Actually, I totally understand the anxieties regarding getting it. I would fully support someone deciding not getting the vaccine when that decision is based on the data For real, everyone has different thresholds. For example I might be comfortable at 90% sure and someone else needs to be 98% sure, but the evidence says it’s 95% safe. (Fake numbers, just to demonstrate my point). I’m totally understanding of that and not going to hate on a decision made that way.

What does bother me is when people are ignorant to the evidence and blatantly say it’s dangerous or something the evidence doesn’t actually support. Or it’s based on bullshit. I can totally respect skepticism but ignorance on the subject is not gonna fly for me.

That kind of fun stuff from family. Also they're friggin missionaries in Africa. Not assimilating, at least they're learning the language. They're dipping out to another country and moving all their shit in a container instead of just selling it. Also pretty sure the SUV they got was almost new. Paid for by donations from church. Instead of sending money to good organizations to aid people, let's send people to spread jesus. That's what people need is more jesus.

These are also not the kind of "I love jesus but I'm a normal human being that can carry on a conversation". These are the types that every sentence has to include something about sweet friggin baby jebus etc or they fell they'll get smitten or something.

I guess a plus of not hitting christmas or thanksgiving with family for years is missing the super super awkward prayers. It's impressive the words they can string together.

A lot of missionaries fuck up right from the beginning. They're "called" to these places because the people are savages and their way is better. It's a pretty bullshit start. Then add in not really learning or caring about the culture, and only learning enough language/only being there to spread white jesus. It's kind of fucked up.

When they had a go fund me for like 20k or whatever to buy a car and plane tickets I was like fuck no. Shit's pretty whack.

I was straight up honest with dude this summer though. Ran into them and helped get a laser (tiny sailboat) down to boat launch to chuck on trailer. Unfortunately waiting for my uncle is generally slow. Had time to ask me about where I think I'm going when I die, etc. I was like fuck my life. Jesus ruined a pretty dope sunset.

Idk. I like the idea of helping people, some people are really really good about it. There are some selfless people out there. But the whole "You are savages, let me loosely help you while forcing jesus down your throat" isn't what we need and a lot of times doesn't even feel genuine at best.

Also christian missionaries have kind of fucked things up in Africa.

Idk, it's just a weird one you can't talk about because church people are "good". When it's fake it's fake. These guys actually aren't assholes or anything like some of my family and plenty of people I've run into. I think they genuinely believe their doing amazing good in the world. But just listening to them talk is mindblowingly frustrating.


Believe whatever religion you want, share it with people if they ask, but slow your damn roll.

Also post has way more jesus stuff, how they're saving the world, and obviously a link to how you can donate more money to their cause.

Some people are super fun. I just want to drink beers and talk about things that aren't politics. And if you bring up politics at least have a well supported argument you can defend.

I am so pissed. Me, my sister, and my cousin have always gone on a ski trip after Christmas for the past four or five years and on Christmas Eve we got into an argument and she literally canceled the trip out of no where. This argument was literally a sibling fight over our mf bathroom. It sounds dumb but this trip is literally the only thing I’ve been looking forward to for months, it’s literally what has got me through work the past few week just knowing id be skiing, I could leave my stressful grades behind for just a little bit and not worry about it and now that relief is gone. Im stuck here in miserable New Jersey with nothing to do. I built a whole snowmaking system in my backyard and the temps are perfect and we just had 3 inches of rain so there’s nothing left and all I wanna do is make snow now but nope that can’t happen either. My teacher put a zero in for a project grade as a placeholder until we get back from break because he gave the class an opportunity to work on it over break if we wanted to and now my dad sees a D in my gradebook because of that and now I’m not even allowed to make snow or anything. Sick to my f*cking stomach knowing all my friends are gonna be in killington while I’m stuck here doing nothing. I did literally everything and anything to convince her. Spent an hour writing this long ass text message and even a wrote a mf hand written letter like a 12 year old and she didn’t budge. Now all I can think about is all the stressful shit I have to return to in a week and how I could’ve prevented this all. Ok that’s about I just needed to rant about this I’m so pissed I completely ruined the highlight of my ski season .

That was “the last straw” for her. What I’m leaving out is that we haven't been getting along super well since she came home for thanksgiving and that argument the other day is what finally made her say I don’t wanna risk us arguing the whole trip so I’m canceling it. Her point isn’t completely invalid at all but it just sucks cause we never argue when we ski we both love going on this trip and we never bother each other.

I swear Bittersweets ownership group is trying to get us shut down. Yeaterday was hands down the busiest day I have ever seen there. Couldn't even tell whixh lift line was which, just a mob of people. This is a hill that has been running over capacity on weekends for a few years now and needed lift ticket caps pre covid. No way the folks over Lansing are going to let this fly. Uf only to the other hills nearby actually tried and took pressure off of us but good Ole Timber Ridge still looks like 1979 and is the jankiest place ever.

True...
I had a lousy end of year review right before my Christmas break. I love my job but last week was certainly one of those weeks where I wanted to quit.
But Having a 4 day weekend and skiing Sat and Sun brought my mood back up. I came in this morning with a better mood. Also only a 3 day workweek this week.

My father in law has stage IV cancer (in remission, but.... you know...). We could find out in two weeks that it’s back and spread and he has 2 months to live, but they’re still going to let covid fear keep them away us and their granddaughter. It’s fucked up. They’re going to miss the birth of their next grandkid, but they’re in total denial that they wont be getting the vaccine for a couple more months.

It’s their decision to make, but i’m fucking pissed off. Especially when they guilt trip us for seeing my family in Minnesota instead of them, or for not living in Oregon to be closer to them, yet they don’t want to take chances with us seeing them, fuck this.

i hate reminding them of his imminent mortality. And i keep pushing the effort for us to see eachother while trying to be respectful. But if he does succumb to the cancer sooner than later, i dont want to live with regret my whole life for taking no for an answer. I know they could die from covid, but just doing the odds of him dying from cancer this year vs odds of him dying from corona—the odds work out that cancer is the biggest threat. But they just keep going on pretending the cancer doesnt exist

It’s like stage IV bladder type cancer with a 15% chance of 5 year survival, and that was almost 3 years ago. The same kind and survival rate as Alex Trebek, and despite his health and wealth, Trebek is already dead. I mean, fuck, right?

This is the biggest fuck all of this pandemic. My family used to visit my grandmother in the dementia ward a few times a week. Ever since Covid hit, they’ve been on a total lockdown. Amazingly enough, Covid still makes it way into the nursing home through the HCW’s and my grandma catches it. Still can’t go and see her but the HCW’s can do whatever the fuck they want when they’re off the clock but we’re not allowed to go and see my grandma because “you could kill her with Covid” well no fuck, your HCW’s there already tried to do that.


the amount of people dying alone and the amount of families that have been broken up over this pandemic is heartbreaking.


I understand if you’re a high risk that you should stay home and it’s more deadly for certain people but since when has anything that has less than a 5% morbidity rate for the world (81.2 million cases , 1.77 million deaths) literally shut down countries and ruined economies/ social life in those countries?

theLiquorMy father in law has stage IV cancer (in remission, but.... you know...). We could find out in two weeks that it’s back and spread and he has 2 months to live, but they’re still going to let covid fear keep them away us and their granddaughter. It’s fucked up. They’re going to miss the birth of their next grandkid, but they’re in total denial that they wont be getting the vaccine for a couple more months.

It’s their decision to make, but i’m fucking pissed off. Especially when they guilt trip us for seeing my family in Minnesota instead of them, or for not living in Oregon to be closer to them, yet they don’t want to take chances with us seeing them, fuck this.

i hate reminding them of his imminent mortality. And i keep pushing the effort for us to see eachother while trying to be respectful. But if he does succumb to the cancer sooner than later, i dont want to live with regret my whole life for taking no for an answer. I know they could die from covid, but just doing the odds of him dying from cancer this year vs odds of him dying from corona—the odds work out that cancer is the biggest threat. But they just keep going on pretending the cancer doesnt exist

It’s like stage IV bladder type cancer with a 15% chance of 5 year survival, and that was almost 3 years ago. The same kind and survival rate as Alex Trebek, and despite his health and wealth, Trebek is already dead. I mean, fuck, right?

r00kieI swear Bittersweets ownership group is trying to get us shut down. Yeaterday was hands down the busiest day I have ever seen there. Couldn't even tell whixh lift line was which, just a mob of people. This is a hill that has been running over capacity on weekends for a few years now and needed lift ticket caps pre covid. No way the folks over Lansing are going to let this fly. Uf only to the other hills nearby actually tried and took pressure off of us but good Ole Timber Ridge still looks like 1979 and is the jankiest place ever.


Update on this. This is more second knowledge I got from the boss but Bittersweet has been visited by the atate twice now and fined twice for capacity violations. The owners are not complying and there is no indication of that changing. I have skied here for 15 years and worked the last three and have never seen crowds as large as they have been the last week. All the employees are worried about getting shut down and left without work. The webcams were disabled at sometime yesterday and would not be surprised if that was intentional to hide crowd size. Everyone else in the state (minus Pine Knob and Mt. Holly, same owners as bs) have found a way to limit capacity and keep going but we won't. Its fucking stupid. Not that hard to sell tickets online and set a limit.

Dude your outside skiing. I don’t know how many times you’ve ever come into close contact with anyone while skiing but literally the only time I ever come within 6’ of someone is lift lines.


and if you truly believe that 6’ distancing and wearing masks helps then skiing should be safe.

It boggles my mind when I see people outside walking their dog wearing a mask. Or driving a car and wearing a mask. Viruses gonna virus - if you’re gonna get it you’re gonna get it. My sisters husband tested positive (firefighter) and she continually tested negative despite living together, not wearing masks inside the house (she was required to quarantine as soon as he tested positive as she works at a hospital) and sleeping in the same bed.

but yeah, because a ski resort is having a good year and people want to go outside and ski to forget about this shitty pandemic, we need to close this shit down!!
