Profahoben_212I know far more about ferpa than HIPAA oddly enough....but faxing is allowed in ferpa. Is it not in HIPAA?

You can fax and mail docs. You just need a cover page with a disclaimer and confidentiality blurb. Email is okay too as long as it is secure. Not entirely sure of the network requirements but I’m sure they’re strict. The tricky thing with mail and fax is that if you send them to the wrong place it is a violation. Where I worked we would have patients sign consents and include the address and phone/fax numbers. that way we had consent to communicate not only with the party but if for some reason they gave us the wrong address/number we were still granted consent to send to the one they gave.

Yeah. Hoping I'm able to get a dumpster here without them freaking out so I can throw some of my shit away here. I don't care if I have a few things here, but just don't want to feel tethered. Def doesn't help to be constantly traveling. I should just buy a house somewhere where real estate is cheap to put some shit in a shed for storage.

I never thought about getting a rando place out west though. Maybe there's some bumfuck town in Idaho where I could afford a house at some point. Prolly not but it'd be cool to have a place to park my car for the summer, store some shit, etc.

Idk, parents though. My mom was so stoked to tell me about their trip to the ark museum in kentucky. They're second time. Also my mom was talking about things CA needs to do on the topic of fires.

I don't mind not agreeing with people but it sucks when they still spend money finding bullshit fundie christian type causes and being kind of shitty people under the guise of being nice. I feel like that fakeness is almost worse than just being a dick.

Idk, just hoping getting rid of some stuff goes well. Also this place will probably get condemned eventually from they're sick hoarding. It's not that bad now but the trajectory isn't looking good. Whatever, they're adults, fuck em. I already don't talk to my sister, I wouldn't care that much if I have a blow up with my parents and stop talking to them too. Sucks that my sister has 4 kids and stuff and I'm her only sibling, so their only uncle. I'd rather not be involved at all than be really inconsistent. They know who I am, I don't really care what my sister tells them, and I really don't care how often I see them.

Sometimes blood family means something, at least to some people, for me not really. I've got a good network of awesome people all over this country, if my family wants to be religious nut jobs whatever. I won't argue with them. Keep trying to stop the liberal homosexual agenda, stop women from murdering children(abortions), hate a bunch of people, judge a bunch of people, be miserable and all that. Idk, I just hate how shitty religious people can be such assholes, fuck everyone over, and then somehow play the victim card.

Also plenty of cool religious people, I'm just saying I hate that christianity and christians get a pass on some shit.

Article I've been waiting to post since mid april just got nuked by the news editor on here. Been waiting for fall to post it. Some other articles were going up this week so I decided to post it tomorrow early am. Well went to get that lined up and all but 2 paragraphs are gone.

Idk, I already don't write on here that often, but probably going to be less in the future. Leaves a sort of sour taste. I know know that I absolutely won't be fucking using it, or at least saving anything elsewhere before putting it together and posting but it just sucks.

One was so messed up I had the exact text of the whole article saved, and it still took me multiple tries over a week to get it together with all the text and photos functioning.

I guess I'll just smoke a bowl, drink some wine and call that article fucked and move on. It wasn't anything crazy but I thought it was a nice little thing to get the peoples stoked for the season.

I already knew pieps developed issues overtime, and if the ones that have this current problem going are new ones that’s kinda fucked. I’m only so new to all this but I feel like BCA, ortovox, mammut etc all have been confidently recommended besides maybe a select few. This is also a good reason to double check every time you use them, I have a few friends with the DSP and I hope they upgrade.

figured it would be a good idea to go get some skis worked on and mounted before the rush begins but totally forgot about everyone getitng their bikes worked on right now, whoop lol checked on my stuff today and it hadn't gotten touched since saturday and they got buttfucked with bike repairs.

also need a bike and a good workspace and mounting skills. im the only ski bum on earth without a mountain bike and ive made too many excuses for too long. my foots fine. i need to stop being a pussy

all my good buddies that I ski with are all moto/sledneck guys lol, gotta stick with my own crowd I guess. But yeah, i went hard biking 2 summers ago, got hurt last summer, and it killed any desire to throw down on a nice setup cuz I just wanted to get back to skiing....I think we're too obssessed with skiing.

But motor toys are serious goals....Been wanting a sled and a trailbike to go find places to sled in the summer since I was little lol

Titus69God damn I’ve just felt weird lately, heavy wildfire smoke keeping me from biking or exercising right now and prepping for ski season, hate my job to no end, and just being in what seems like the slowest approach to the ski season ever is taking a tole on me. Only about 40 days until I should be back in a ski shop and a few weeks til I see my family for the first time in over a year and get out of slc, just very ready to be doing the things in life I love again. I like 99% of the other people at work and they treat us pretty well but I’m fucking over them having me do the same boring shit (any job role here is boring) while always making sure my numbers are good and that I’ll get stuff done, but just knowing that I have so much to offer to my other job and have the will to move up in that industry and not a warehouse is getting me extremely anxious to move on. I always thought I might like warehouse work but i just hate it, easy for 2-3 months before ski season but I just don’t get how the other “skiers” can be weekend warriors at that place, I think detailing nice cars and working in a ski shop is what I was meant to do in life since I’m good at both and like it.

TLDR, fuck wildfires, my job, I want it to dump lots of snow

fuck im slammed.

found out in lecture today that 6 out of 8 people (other than me) failed our exam. Fucking wack. There was one perfect score and one that missed only one question. So no curve. The rest were low C's or D's. This is failing in our master's program because a B- is technically failing. a good buddy of mine was approaching 50% on the exam.

I know for a fact I got two questions wrong, which means I'm looking at about a 70-75. Also depends if I got more wrong. If I got anything more wrong I am looking at 60s on a good day. I am back in South Dakota at the moment, so I have to wait for my exam, which i mailed, to get there before i find out.

Forgot I had a paper due based on a 500-page book by Friday. So looks like my week is reading a 500-page epidemiology book.

Found out that I need to have an internship in stone by the 15th of November....during covid. Talked to some buddies in the program who have cold-called/emailed people on our internship list and nobody has responded. So that is really fucking sick. We don't graduate if we don't get one. Time to dust of the resume and pray.

Time to get to work I guess.

But what the fuck. Also, my internship next spring requires me to work 20ish hours a week. I have a 10 hour a week TA position. I spend 12 hours a week in class. So that's 42 hours a week. When you factor in study/homework which is usually about 20-30 hours a week (during midterms/finals its probably closer to 40-60)........you get the just.

Not to mention the fact that they completely rearranged our program so now instead of having our internship during the summer where it makes the most sense and people actually have time for it or can do something outside of reno because of the massive shortage in availability here and we can focus our research paper on an actual concrete thing we've done, they have it in the spring. At the same time as our research paper.

So now we have to write our graduation paper in the same semester. So we have no concrete ideas to work with, and we have no time for it. My advisor told me to expect 10-30 hours a week on that alone depending on the week/research/whatever.

So at the minimums, I'm expecting 70+ hour weeks next semester. At the max, I'm expecting 130. I'm not a fucking bering sea crab fisherman....shit which honestly i could handle more. I can do physical work for 10 hours whatever. But I can't do that in academics. My ADHD goes buck fucking wild sitting in front of a computer for that long every day. Shit, I can barely make it through 20 minutes without focusing on something irrelevant for 20+minutes.

TLDR:

my program made a ridiculous call to move our internship from summer to spring and now everyone is fucked. Especially because noplace wants to hire an intern during covid and I'm expected to write a thesis at the same time as all my classes, studying, internship, and my classes that I teach/grade.

Has to be off University so no unr...and has to be related to a Public health related project? Which I'm randomly supposed to be able to create a project out of thin air for the company and be able to present it to our board. Makes little sense. Why would a company hire us during covid when they are struggling to get by to do some random project a grad student with almost no real world experience dreamt up?

I talked to my advisor and he recommended renown/saint Marie's obviously....but they have one opportunity open for our program (50ish students), which everyone I've heard from has applied to and nobody I've talked to that has applied has even heard back....it's just weird.

I'm looking into the Washoe contact tracing dept. Because I have every certification to be a contact tracer and I'm fairly interested. And the Washoe air quality division because that's more in line with what I'm into.

Buuut if you have any leads I am more than ears. Thanks Taylor:)

I was like that for 3 years right after school. Hated my job (and working the 65 hours a week/7 days a week). Was drinking a lot. Put on 40 lbs.

Once I got a new job I started drinking a lot less and after my injury managed to lose close to 20lbs. I just smoke primarily now, will drink occasionally.

Yea man, when I graduated I found a good job in NY, was working insane hours, but it kept me so fucking busy working late nights I couldn't drink. Was in the best shape of my life, still partied on weekends. Now with working from home I literally have almost no liabilities, I just roll out of bed and sit in my office hungover AF. Noticed I'm putting on some weight lately. I've always been a drinking enthusiast, but I'd keep it to social drinking two - three nights a week and I'd be fine. Being single and not having to be anywhere except my office just leads me to crack a beer at 4PM, before i know it I'm blacked out smoking pot ordering food and waking up feeling like dogshit. Vicious cycle. But i guess its still better than my old cocaine habit that I thankfully kicked.... least that kept me skinny

Charlie_KellyI was like that for 3 years right after school. Hated my job (and working the 65 hours a week/7 days a week). Was drinking a lot. Put on 40 lbs.

Once I got a new job I started drinking a lot less and after my injury managed to lose close to 20lbs. I just smoke primarily now, will drink occasionally.

zuesYea man, when I graduated I found a good job in NY, was working insane hours, but it kept me so fucking busy working late nights I couldn't drink. Was in the best shape of my life, still partied on weekends. Now with working from home I literally have almost no liabilities, I just roll out of bed and sit in my office hungover AF.
