I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

My patella hurt last week and was fine, now once again at work, squatting down to grab something it hurt a lot again. Only position it sucks with is like a full squat ass almost to the floor but still looks and feels ever so slightly swollen compared to my good knee. X ray last week said no tears or anything really visible but god damn am I pissed my job requires constant walking and carrying shit. Guess I’m not gonna start biking this week like I hoped, really fucking over these random little tweaks I get and hope this is just a minor one of those again. Pretty sure this is all cause I played volleyball and did a weird ass step in the sand last week, fuck that game now.

I'm so upset, I'll be lucky to get a coherent post out. My brother-in-law just announced to the family that he has to close his bike shop in VA... but not because the business isn't there. His business is insanely popular and was doing extremely well before COVID, when manufacturing came to a screeching halt. There's been huge demand for bikes, parts, accessories, etc., but there's been zero supply. Things have been back-ordered and out of stock for months. Why? Not because the manufacturers are shut down. Because they're selling everything to Amazon and other huge companies who are turning around and selling things for barely over wholesale price. So now my brother-in-law has to close his very successful business because he can't even obtain the items that his shop sells, and Fortune 500 kills another small, local business. I'm so angry and heartbroken. PLEASE SUPPORT LOCAL when you can!

Hoarding is super complex. It’s not as simple as just throwing out junk. Most people are attached to their items and it takes a while to convince them to let go of the things. My grandma hoards and my aunts just cleaned her house out from top to bottom and it was not very effective because she just stocked up on more shit. I can’t really say much more than don’t do that.

I’m working in the Letters and Science Dean’s office right now. Haven’t heard that at all from our college. Mostly blended with a push for in person classes. That said-- you're in education. And with the rise in cases I wouldn't be surprised if we end up going fully online.
I know my graduate courses are in person but I'm still worried they will go fully online. My archives closed and my theisi just fell thru for the third time, so I feel your frustrations.
I'm so sorry you're getting fucked over. It's not fair.

To preface: I am super happy my uni is being proactive and is testing students for COVID. It needs to happen and I'm totally for it I currently get tested weekly for work. I already had COVID and thus far there are so few documented cases of people getting COVID again, it's generally not a risk (but not totally impossible, hence the further testing and me still being cautious af/following the guidelines).

So I get "randomly" selected to get tested. That's fine, I just got tested and I'll be tested next week so I sent in my results. It turns out SUNY is doing "pooled" testing so I can't just get tested myself - I have to be tested with 12 other random people and if any one of us is positive ALL of us have to quarantine. WTF? How is my individual test not sufficient? The tests are pooled based on when you walk in to get the test, so I can go anytime this week and just so happen to be in a "negative group" or a positive one just by chance.

So now I have to hope that the people in my random group are not positive. If someone is, I have to miss two weeks of school which equates to 48 clinical hours... that I would need to make up. Also, since I had COVID in April, I already used up my COVID leave. If I were to be in a positive group and miss work, I'm not excused and have to use PTO. But here's the kicker - I don't have any PTO as a per diem employee so I would be unexcused for the duration of this bullshit quarantine and would lose my job due to unexcused absences. I've already called to warn them I may have to do this and they pretty much told me that I would be SOL.


I am just so dumbfounded that my own test doesn't qualify for this testing program... like, why? It saves you money? It's such bullshit.

That’s actually very reassuring- thanks for the inside info, been hearing it from kids in my classes and my bowling professor so I wasn’t sure exactly how likely it was gonna happen.

True that, I’m living on my own so I imagine it wouldn’t be super hard for them to fill a small apartment right off campus. I guess I’ll talk to the landlord about it- I can always ask the groundskeeper when he’s outside my window smoking cigarettes in the morning lol.

Course Modality Update:

The Registrar’s Office is working with the Provosts Office on communication and clarification of course modality for Spring 2021. This information is likely to be sent out before or at the beginning of registration. Please be on the lookout for this information to be able to advise students.

That means we should have an announcement by October 26 at the latest.

Nah I pretty much get kicked out of school.




I did a survey for registration and headache, fatigue and shortness of breath were symptoms. So I clicked yes because I have all of those often and now I don’t have to get a pooled test. So, loophole? No one has said anything and I’ll be tested next week anyways soooo I guess there’s that? Idk

Jesus fucking Christ my house is being appraised tomorrow morning and our landlord asked us to clean it real well, of course I come home from a mediocre work day to see the house still dirty and my roommates skating and mad that I was sarcastic about them not doing anything all day.

Geez, I hope that works out for you! It really feels like every single government and institution is trying a completely different method to see what works, and it's making things very challenging for businesses and individuals to just survive. I wish this hell would just end already.

I was really confused why my doctor asked me what “people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” meant, so I looked it up. My response was like if you throw a stone at your glass house then your house is gonna shatter and now you have no house. But apparently that is not what it means and it’s common to ask that to determine if someone has schizophrenia. And apparently my answer is consistent with that 😂😂😂 yikes.

Had the great luck of having my freshman year of college be going during a pandemic. Obviously my situation could be way worse, and I am thankful that the pandemic has only effected me this much, but its still a bummer. I'm going to U of U and they kinda want everyone to just stay in their rooms at all times if leaving isn't completely necessary. I've met some cool people, but it still feels pretty isolating. Going to do stuff of hanging out with people is constantly a balancing act between having fun and not getting covid. My roommate is one of the douchiest people I've ever met, he's one of those guys that thinks hes the smartest person in the room and will go out of his way to shove that in your face, even when its not true. He's from Vail and thinks Vail Resorts is the greatest thing that every happened to skiing, so that should exact who he is as a person well enough. Also, he thinks hes some sort of social justice warrior despite the fact that he says hella racist shit about hispanic people all the time. I dont think this would be that big of an issue during a normal year but not what I have to stay in my dorm a lot of the time I gotta listen to him spout stupid shit when I'm trying to work. Getting a covid test on Monday, probably gonna test positive cuz i been fucking around with a couple girls that go to a lot of frat parties, and the frats have been having a spike in cases. If I test positive that means i get locked in a room for the next month, so im really hoping im good.

God damn I’ve just felt weird lately, heavy wildfire smoke keeping me from biking or exercising right now and prepping for ski season, hate my job to no end, and just being in what seems like the slowest approach to the ski season ever is taking a tole on me. Only about 40 days until I should be back in a ski shop and a few weeks til I see my family for the first time in over a year and get out of slc, just very ready to be doing the things in life I love again. I like 99% of the other people at work and they treat us pretty well but I’m fucking over them having me do the same boring shit (any job role here is boring) while always making sure my numbers are good and that I’ll get stuff done, but just knowing that I have so much to offer to my other job and have the will to move up in that industry and not a warehouse is getting me extremely anxious to move on. I always thought I might like warehouse work but i just hate it, easy for 2-3 months before ski season but I just don’t get how the other “skiers” can be weekend warriors at that place, I think detailing nice cars and working in a ski shop is what I was meant to do in life since I’m good at both and like it.


TLDR, fuck wildfires, my job, I want it to dump lots of snow

Roommate was exposed to a covid positive person for 2 hours, outside, without wearing masks and he isnt taking it seriously. Like I shouldnt have to ask him to wear a mask indoors, especially when I havent been around him at all since he was in contact with that covid positive person. Like if there is a high likely hood that we both have it, itd be whatever but right now that likelihood that i'm infected is low.

Yup, that is plan. Didn't go to work today and we have both gone and gotten tested already. Avoiding him, and other roommates who dont seem to care, til the test results are back. Luckily, if i test negative, a friend has offered a place for me to stay. The only unfortunate thing is I could have been potentially infected last night and the test results will not show that.

Yeah it can take up to 2 weeks from exposure to test positive. Try again in a week or two for some peace of mind, but realistically unless you have symptoms it’s super hard to tell. Like you could be exposed right after you test so its not a for sure thing. The best thing you can do is quarantine and limit your exposure to the public just in case. Best of luck to you guys. I’m hoping you both test negative and stay healthy!

cant send it over email with HIPPA. Same with FERPA laws.

I believe the issue is to protect you on your end of the email, if you have an unseen virus scanning emails or intercepting them. Not 100% though.

Closest I've come to killing someone with my car in a while. Dude just pulled out for no reason. I wasn't even on a wild corner and was going 56 in a 55. Dude was either dumb as fuck, derped hard as fuck. Or pulled a no looker.

Got all the way to the yellow almost I think. I swerved so hard around him I wouodnt have been surprised if my car whipped out on me or my ass end caught the ditch or if i just send it into a tree.

Idk, i woukd have been sitting in his drivers seat with my subaru.

I get that everyone does dumb shit but this was a rowdy one. Cutting people off by a littlw and they have to touch the brake lightly is whatever. Shit happens. But that dude almost got smashed.

Also i drive with my headlights and fog lights on. I wish more people woukd run headlights in the day in the mtns. Prevents accidents because you see people from way farther away.

Consider rocking headlights in the mtns in the day. And if you don't use headlights in the rain and snow you're a fucking asshole.

But said event had no impact with lights because i saw him, and clearly he didn't look at me. Idk if i ever sent my horn that hard. As my car was straightening out i roasted it. Dude was probably oh fuck my bad, but its like dude you almost died.

Luckily i was paying attention.

Idk, somedays i think about getting a bike agan and then i see people drive like that. Idk, i aint trying to die.

This is all true - but also why would COVID take this option away? Like I can understand this method not being feasible but I don’t understand why that would be due to covid.


If anything, going in person to get paper copies would actually increase the person to person interaction than just having an office fax it or something.

Went on the hunt for said ghost cat. It wasn't as scared of flashight as i would have thought. Could not fiscover size or species. Is it even a cat, is even a ghost, is it even of this world?

But seriously it's kinds freaky. And with the hoarding situation my parents have going on I'm kinda afraid to find out.
