Rant About Whatever

MinggHealth insurance costs my family more than the mortgage does. It’s not as simple as saying get a job and work for it. We are well off but there are a significant amount of working people who literally have to chose between health insurance or having a place to sleep and food.

My mom got sick and had to retire early, I’m only 24 but got kicked off because it would have been $2,100 per month for them. Because of this I get Medicaid but if I were 27, in the exact situation I am in right now I’d be paying $500-600 per month which I cannot afford, and that’s still with premium assistance and with a job where I’m paying taxes already.

I’m not saying you’re wrong. healthcare and insurance is a service and there are working people within the companies that deserve compensation. It’s just not so simple as saying work for it... and as mentioned above, it’s also not as simple as sacrificing your entire life just for insurance. Realistically a lot of people already do these things and still have to go without. There are a lot of issues that contribute to this that unfortunately can’t be solved quickly.

(General statement not necessarily directed at you) I’d also recommend not being quick to judge someone’s employment status and even if someone isn’t currently employed it doesn’t mean they haven’t paid into he system for years. The numbers of people who truly cheat the system are surprisingly minuscule compared to what the public thinks. We pay into the system and should be able to tap into programs and services offered when we need them. We’ve already paid(or will be paying) for them.
And this isn’t all directed at you or an argument against your post cause I do see and partially agree with where you’re coming from. More or less just trash ramblings because I’m interested in this subject lol

MinggIf there is one thing I’ve learned from my clinical experience it’s that even fucking medical professionals are ass at mental health. “He’s a druggie.” “Hes a drug seeker” (spoiler alert: he wasnt). Lots of “crazies,” “cutters,” “attention seekers,” and so on. I hear nurses say “so and so is full of shit” and things along those lines. Idk what I expected but a lot of things cross the line for me. America sucks, our healthcare sucks and so do most people.

You're a transient, dude. You constantly move around internationally yet you bitch and expect your healthcare to be provided anywhere you go. Wtf even is this. Like I get the healthcare system is wack but maybe don't chase snow 365, get a stable job with bene's, get your 30 days in a year like a normal weekend warrior like the rest of us or quit bitching about it. It's available and more accessible than you'd ever imagine but you'll never get it if you expect it to be handed to you.

In the US, his lifestyle is definitely difficult and the paperwork doesn't make it any easier; this kinda proves his point though. I was in Costa Rica who has 100% free healthcare even for visitors. Someone with us got hurt and had no issues getting care.

BiffbarfSo here's the thing tho, I don't hate on him for not digging on the US's healthcare. I don't believe socialized medicine is ideal BUT that's beyond my point.

The problem is, even if he wants to live in nations with socialized healthcare, his lifestyle doesn't seem conducive to even be allowed immigration. Many nations have strict laws such that people don't immigrate without providing proof that they'd be allowed to produce their share for the country.

It's not just a 'murica bad' thing, which will tRiGgEr me 100% of the time, it's the attitude that things are hopeless and everyone else's fault when they aren't at all.

I went out of town for a few days so I asked my roommate to feed my cat and give her some love while I was out. I set all of her food/stuff up (dry food, 3 cans of wet food, treats, & the charger for the GPS tracker on her collar) and I came home last night and...none of it was touched AND the wet food that I fed her right before my flight was left in the bowl and had maggots all around. I also came home to my door closed and him not around, which means my cat didn't have access to the rest of the house – just my room. Obviously he didn't feed her, and sometimes he leaves for days at a time.

Idk, I really trusted him but he's a 19-year old punk-ass kid. I wish my other roommate had been here, but he left for a trip the day I did. Sigh, I just feel like I can't leave her with him again. Am I being overdramatic?

Tnskicanceled my sirius account today and i had to fill out a form then 40 texts later they finally canceled it but I had a 24$ credit and said to get credited to my card on file a had to make a request. So I had to fill out tge firm again and they put it on my card in a few days.
During thus process I told smujaheem or whatever the name was that just cancel it already si I never have to deal with this process again. It reminded me of a restaurant that keeps raising its prices and/or giving smaller portions to make more profit when fewer and fewer customers eat there till finally they have no business.

Trumpkin2020Why is it that cross country runners think they own the parks? Just because you're part of some running team at school doesn't entitle you to have zero etiquette when utilizing public parks. It's really bad on narrow trails but for example yesterday I went for a quick bike ride to the park near my house. It's paved and the left lane has a very clear counter clockwise bike lane and signs if you're going the wrong way and the other is for all other use. There are plenty of blind curves. I came around so many fucking curves to find who groups of them running on the wrong side, resulting in me having to slow almost to a stop. They also had a dude following them on a bike riding the wrong way. At one point passing a bike going the wrong way which is super dangerous I said going wrong way bud, he goes "I know"... zero fucks. Pretty sure this was a college team too- bitch you can fuck off I will own you.

Idk, I've lived with all kinds of shot roommates so sometimes a living situation just is what it is. Hopefully he's cool outside of that. I wouldn't expect him to go over the top, take your cat on long walks to the park, buy it a sweater, and bring it to zoom meetings, but how hard is it to open up a couple of cans of food.

Honestly I fucking hate cat food, the smell has made me throw up before. But I don't have any pets now. If a roommate needed me to watch one or feed it it wouldn't be a problem. would be more down with dry food but I'd survive. Idk, kinda shot to say you'll do it and then ignore it. Good thing it was only a few days. What if you left for 2 weeks?

MinggI would be extremely pissed if this happened to me. Did you talk to him at all? I'd understand if he forgot a meal but the whole time?? Sweet jesus.

dkirseI appreciate all of you and your input! I was pretty bummed about the whole sitch – it makes me feel like I can't travel. Anyway, I've decided to talk to him (gently) about it when I see him next. He still hasn't come home...

I'm more sad for my cat than I am mad at him. I was a hectic 19-year old too, I'm planning to give him the benefit of the doubt but also dig into him a little bit. Luckily, I don't think me and my other roommate will be gone at the same time again so that's good.

On another note...

I swear that the universe is absolutely fucking with me. It's taken me (is still taking me...) 10+ months to get over my last relationship. Every time I think I'm past it, something happens and I'm back playing tug-of-war between my heart & brain. Today a package showed up at my parents house and first I thought, "Great! He finally got around to sending me my stuff!" I was stoked because a package would mean he sent me back more than just my social security card (i.e., our photo book, clothes I left, etc.) But, to my surprise, what landed at my parents house was the package that I sent to him for Christmas while he was still in Mexico. I thought this thing was a goner when the tracking stopped in Mexico City. We pronounced it stolen and moved on. We were already broken up at that point.

But it's back. And I remember now that it's basically a love letter to him + some stuff that he asked for from our storage unit. I'm having my parents forward it to his new address and that's it. It's his turn to feel some sad feels.

OregonDeadf it 10 months is not that long. you all were traveling and had a storage unit? I still get feels about some people I never even lived with. Probably wasn’t doing it right if I could go on and forget about the person. That doesn’t mean you can’t move on though. Also this year is kinda weird for getting out and socializing so big vibes. When I finalized my divorce in March I had been separated for a while and was ready to party but the judge and everyone was like virtual elbow bumps and then the ski areas closed and we were all quarantined not even two weeks later. most of the social stuff I’d want to get back into just isn’t really happening yet

We got smoked out from wildfires and so the local county closed some of the parks because the air quality hit “hazardous” for the last week or whatever long it’s been. I literally watched 40 people die in a month and a half and as of today the total is up to 70 per the reports released by the state(I haven’t worked there since may). Don’t fucking tell me that covid isn’t real. You’re a nurse and yet so fucking ignorant.

“No one was hospitalized” yeah because they’re in a nursing home and the majority of the residents sign a MOLST requesting NOT to be hospitalized. “No one was on a vent” See above and also we dont have vents.
