Not everyone who buys passes is an entirely cheap ski bum, ill buy lunches when its family ski day or a round of beers for friends every now and then. it just seems like such near-sighted product offering. The ski industry has no idea what its doing.

My childhood buddy says he wants to do a late day tomorrow. I haven't been counting but feel like he has only made it up a few times this year. Not even totally sure he made his pass worth it. Hopefully he follows through. Seems like he is doing a better job of following through at least even if he isn't making plans to go up all that much.
Oh well I want to finish my taxes tomorrow morning so would be going up late either way. Hope he makes it out tomorrow for his own mental health. Gotta go fast sometimes to get the head right IMO

Mega rant rhat tou probably shouldn't bother reading but i feel better after typing it out.


So memorial for my roommate was last night. I had to work but obviously was going to go. Being sober for it and not knowing that many people there was only trying to go for the speeches and chillin. They had a bunch if music which is sweet. Local bands he liked that played for free but i wasn't trying to rage.


Anyway I wake up from sleep, deink some coffee snd go down there. Can't find roommate(living one obviously) anywhere. Don't see any of the other people staying at our house who I know but not very well anyway. I get anxiety walking into things where everyones drunk, im sober, tired, and can't find anyone I know.I also have pretty horrible anxiety in general. Lack of sleep working nights and some recent dramas hasn't helped. Also getting my car back from guy who fixed it at night somehow, paying him, paying rent, and my paycheck being short AGAIN and not enough for even rent, not adding on paying dude or buying groceries. So anxiety was crushing.

One of the guys I work with was there and we chatted for a bit and confirmed that I had already missed the speaches. Barely but missed em. Really the only reason I went. But we chatted for a bit and then I dipped out, napped for a bit at home and went to work. I needed to gtfo. I think some of the anxiety was probably from the event itself, and not having fully dealt with his death yet.

Idk. Then I was thinking aout it, and knew other roommate was going to bitch about me not being there. I just felt it. Even though I was there I never saw them. And although her and him were reallly good friends and went to some fests and shows shows together and he was living with us. Theyve known each for 4 years. Granted that's more than enough time to become really good friends. Idk, they were talking shit about people for not really being franks friends etc though in advance. Possesive dramatic bullshit. Like if they werent friends, frank couldnt have been friends with them. It was some "me show" type of stuff.

Idk honestly I knew frank, we got along really well. I saw him at most shows and he was over at the house a bunch last year and lived with him for a couple months this year. But we werent super close. Great guy but i never skied with him, played disc golf, went out to eat.

I made an effort to go even though I had to work. The times were switched and i missed the speeches but I went.

Im not gonna go for 6 fucking hours and not sleep for work because it makes my roommate feel better. First she's on normal sleep scheduke, not like waking her up at 3 or 4 am to come out to a bar woth drunk loud people. Also she doesn't fucking work. I mean makes some websites, sells some fest merch, and taxes us on rent but she doesn't get that some people legit have to go to work.

Fuck I even remeber her telling roommate he couldnt have certain show posters(nothing wrong with them) because SHE didnt like the colors. I wish he hadnt changed them. If I had any posters here Id put them up and tell her to go fuck herself. I feel like it's het house and zim just paying into it. She likes me because I can help out with stuff snd am wueit, and she can rage and keep me up and do whatever and I wont start anything about it.

She taxed downstairs neighbor 250 for snow removal( me and bith roommates had already split it) so that loot just went to her.

Idk now theres a shit ton of pictures of her with people and just her even on the fridge. Like 20 plus. Not even any with roommate that died. I dont really care even but theres a trend where I don't matter. She ignored me and roommate about cleaning up her dogs shit OUT OF THE FUCKING WALKWAY AT THE GATE but will bitch about dumb stuff or ask you for favors more like demands.

Also live her showing off the master suite and how great it is to everyone. Like dope you're paying less than me for that prolly.

Fuck it im on a tear why stop. Even dishes. Will put dishes in sink never rinse them. Throw them in dishwasher, then put them away with shit stuck to them. Obvious food chunks. Will never change that but then complains about dumb shit.

Came at me aggressively for shoveling stairs with metal shivel because I put some small dings in it. Honestly you could barely see them once it wore in a few weeks inti spring and deck is beat uo anyway. But reason why i shoveled with metal shovel, is because she walked on the fucking snow,packed it down and let it freeze to 6 inches of ice and it was a death trap to come home on dark stairs. Now her dog shits all iver the deck this season anyway but thats not an issue i guess. Now I don't go barefoot out there anymore.

I just hate being involved in and seeing those one way type of relationships. What can everyone do for me. Demanding things, and then nothing the other way. We get along good otherwise when Im able to sleep. Ill watch movies woth her and chat and stuff.

Im probably not even living in the area next yeat but def going to love in another spot if I do. A roommate that actually goes to work sometimes would be dope too cause wed be on opposite schedules. Thats how me and other roommmate were. I was worried because only saw him at shows partying. But we meshed awesome. I was really stoked for it and down to live with him in the future.

Idk, mega rant. Idk everyone has weird things they place more concern with than other things but this is kinda shot. I feel more like she uses people more than being actual friends with them. I guess maybe depends on the person but neighbor had similar thoughts.

Idk everybody will disagree on shit. Everyone will butt heads sometimes, just don't be a douche and pretend to care about the people around you even a little bit. Other people are actually people, the world doesn't exist just for you.

I don't. There no hr. Im not working for Vail after this season so fuck it. I can pull it up in the my vail site and it usually has it a day or so before. Midnight friday came quick so i just checked my account and was not super stoked. I like tahoe and work/ride with some great people at the start but some if the people are to fucked to work with/for.

In hitting the 5 year dinner in reno and then dipping. Ir finishing out the season. I dont care either way. Friend just quit parks yesterday. I treated him to some post work/quiting beers at copper lane. Living vicariously through him.

Yeah. A few of guys at least went to different departments and are happy. But yeah some people are replaceable some people aren't. Technically anyone is, but theres people that know the mtn, know the machines, snowmaking systems etc, know the people, actually love the mountain. Driving them away for some bullshit is just bad.

Sorry for being cunty earlier. I just got tired of getting fucked over by the same shit this year as every year. Bummed cause I like the mtn, like tahoe, like the people. I can get paid significantly more to be less stressed at other mtns up here and def other places. I came back hoping it wouldnt be totally fucked, like give me a small reason to stay, and it just isn't there.

The lack of snow has been a good experience working at least. Learned a lot on low/wet snow in Australia this summer. Grooming park features when everything is rocks and dirts has upped the chess game. I just can't take the weird favoritism, drama, etc.

Alot of people pop out snd coool off for a few years, but vails taken some turns recently where I know at least when I dip, it's extremely unlikely Ill work for the company again.


Aspen ski go is prolly gonna be my jam again if I do the mega corp thing. Or jist find a smaller mtn that needs some work.

i! hate! bozeman! I’ve been here for 7 years, 8 if i stay in grad school and graduate, and can’t wait to get the fuck out!!! Everything about it is driving me crazy— housing, MSU, the people moving here. I’m also pretty sure my job position is going to be confined with out accounted so her job doesn’t disappear with our new system. it’s easier to get rid of me than to completely eliminate her. I panic applied to a BLM job and might drop out of grad school! I think this is the big mental breakdown that’s been brewing for 6 months.

I can only imagine living in Bozeman for as long as you have, I wouldve gone stir crazy myself. My 2 cents....... it is getting close to the end of the school year, Im sure your mind is just full and is need of a break. Hang in there, the snow will start melting(not that is what we want)but attitudes change in the spring. Take each day one at a time and just put your head down and power through it. Like doing a little back country tour, keep pushing, you will make it to the top. Once you make it, summer will be here and maybe that break will give you the chance to get away, reset some things, maybe come back and kick the rest of your schoolings ass. Im just saying, dont make any drastic decisions that you will regret later down the road.

Snow melt is what is keeping me sane. Super burned out and I'm just ready for it to be summer. Can't do anything but ski here during the winter

Im climbing on wed and that is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment. Im so sick of winter, i dont care to ski right now. I just wanna get a break from school and climb everyday.

Maine sucks you don’t want any part of it too remote and hick. Wasted 7 hrs driving to the hill to get no new snow when a foot was forecasted and the last trip to Sunday River was the same shit a few years ago a dump was predicted and it rained. VT would have been great but I like to stay there and not day trip and I got a 2 week vacation coming up so just wanted the best liftopia day. Rhode Island is the sweet spot if you want ocean and the water gets warm for more than 2-3 weeks a year.



After my recent short lived employment that lasted a week I don’t want to work for anyone full time but probably am not experienced enough to just be a consultant and bill them and stuff. I’m looking for 2 jobs where I make a point to stay at 20 hours but they absolutely can’t be close to each other and ever potentially compete. I should be able to pull off getting my foot in the door at a couple places like this Burlington vT New Haven Ct Boston etc far enough from each other. Just go in every other week for 2-3 days and get a hotel and WFH the other week and bring them more projects than theyd expect a full time person to.

Yeah, I think it's just school and my mid-semester freakout. Biking is right around the corner and the sun is going to be out longer here in a few days, I've got one year left. I can do this. The snow melting is going to keep me sane. All my classwork ends in the last week of April. It's not long before I have my 4-month break. This is the sanity talk I needed.

The billsmafia sold me on buffalo a long time ago. To deal with that level of mediocrity and heartbreak for so long is actually ridiculous, and they are so stoked on it all the fucking time. What kind of adults show up to a psrty with nothing/minimal things. I was well stocked up with beer and liquor because having friends over for a show. A few I hadn't seen in years. We were down in SF sat night. Roommate had a party. Im open to sharing but they drank all the beers, well all the good beers, and finished off all the whiskey I wanted. Well they drank a full bottlle and 1/4 of bulleit, less than half bottle of makers left the large half full bottom of jack untouched. I just wanted to have beers and whiskey to sip with my friends. Had to go spend 60 bucks to be less stocked up than I was.

Dope. They also wanted to get down on some other things I had. Got almost enough loot to pay for the good deal I got on it.

Idk, im down to share but freeloader types piss me off. It wasn't my friends, my party, and I wasn't even here till 9 am. I usually rolly through a party with more than enough stuff. Stometimes it happens but then hopefully some other people come through.

I dont get paid much, mountain shorted me 23 hourd. After rent i have 18 bucks to last me possibly till next week unless I get a check for said hours on friday. All thise people were 35 plus, some 45. Some of them talk about how fancy they are, fucking act like it to.

Im down to share but deleting me for that much is pretty whack. Also plenty of food gone. No worries Ill just use the money i dont have to buy groceries.

Dont be a freeloader, esepcially if you're not hurting for money and wanna act fancy. Shit happens but go fuck yourself.

I have an unsettling feeling that my ski season may be over, short of a 10-14hr drive to VT. Was gonna ski yesterday at the shit hill near me, but it rained and they suspended operations. Every weekend I'm off, I have obligations not of my choosing. Kind of really sucks since it was barely anything to begin with and now my days off are being involuntarily booked. Even more so sucks because I volunteered to trade a May weekend to have this coming weekend off just in case a storm hit; now I can't ski even if I tried. The next weekend, same deal.

What even more so sucks is I'm pretty sure the people I normally ski with have settled into the "ski once a year" crowd and are content with it. This sucks from a skiing amount perspective and also because I keep progressing more than them, and they can't ski with me on all trails out west due to ability. Going solo sucks even if you do meet new people. My wife doesn't like to ski (I've tried 3 times unsuccessfully--any suggestions would be appreciated.) so there's always a balance of decisions but I usually end up going solo at this point in the year.

Sure there's more to life than skiing but this sport is only a quarter to half the year depending where you live. You gotta milk it for all its worth while you can. Also not getting any younger. Probably gonna have kids in a couple years, so cut my already short season in half or to nothing for a while.

Hopefully I can find a way to make the 5hr each way day trip to WV or convince someone to drive to VT with me (did it solo last year for a storm).

Tldr: don't live in Ohio if you like to ski.

Is your wife okay with that? The travel time isn’t much shorter here due to growth, but at least there’s better terrain and more people to go with - though depending on your field it may be that all of your friends from work have 0 interest going outside.

Going solo sucks even if you do meet new people. My wife doesn't like to ski (I've tried 3 times unsuccessfully--any suggestions would be appreciated.) so there's always a balance of decisions but I usually end up going solo at this point in the year.

Sure there's more to life than skiing but this sport is only a quarter to half the year depending where you live. You gotta milk it for all its worth while you can. Also not getting any younger. Probably gonna have kids in a couple years, so cut my already short season in half or to nothing for a while.

Hopefully I can find a way to make the 5hr each way day trip to WV or convince someone to drive to VT with me (did it solo last year for a storm).

Tldr: don't live in Ohio if you like to ski.

Where at in Ohio? If your a 5 hour drive to Snowshoe (guessing that’s where you go in WV) you can’t be too far from my hill. I’ve got a spare pass if you wanna come rip for a day.

Young_IMPCIs your wife okay with that? The travel time isn’t much shorter here due to growth, but at least there’s better terrain and more people to go with - though depending on your field it may be that all of your friends from work have 0 interest going outside.

But yeah my drive is 5hrs to anything worth skiing a day at, and 12hrs to any place that's at least somewhat challenging. I can think of at least 5 major cities with better odds than that. Don't hang with work people much. All my friends from HS and college either don't ski or are in grad school or live far as fuck away. Oh well, I guess I just need to get out more.

Ohio is what turned me into a diehard park rat. Without the park, I would have gone insane here years ago.

I am wrapping up a nearly 60 day ohio season, best of my life.
