I mean right now i wouldnt wanna be skiing out there solo, or just at all considering the history. PCs patrol should take control at least since that gate cant really be closed completely, advise people not wearing beacons to turn around, give them some basic safety guidance etc. They should start promoting people to want to take avy courses by making em feel dumb.

I started working for a vail resort last year and in turn have transformed into a anxiety ridden alcoholic.
Switched departments recently and my new boss cant get me on the payroll. Would normally just go to HR but vail cut the entire dept. for a broken web link. Might be homeless for the holidays. Lol


Thats just because ur a fukin loser. Its not vails fault you dont have the intelligence to process information on your own time and be interested in things.
U dont drink to cope with anxiety. You have anxiety because your drunkeness fucks with your social skills and renders you socially useless.

For sure. Also sucks when everyone, even well meaning people get all "They should have talked to me or someone". Honestly if a person does most of the time people dont have time for that. Eww get away with your problems. It's only after something like this that people wish something had been done.

Idk theres no magic fix, it's likely always going to be an issue but this shit sucks.

Hell I'd go talk to somebody but the ski industry pays like shit and the health care industry is fucked. Honestly if anything the health care situation makes more people kill themselves than it helps. I'm still fucked with medical bills.

Stoked that make america great again just means being racist to brown people and leaving health care and education in a shithole.

Idk this country is jacked sometimes.

I agree with you, talking about what’s going in your head is super stigmatised. This often causes people to interiorise the problem - which is unhealthy in the long run.

I wonder to what extent the view on mental health could be changed. If it’s even possible.

My girl has literally gone to my therapist with me so she can help me better. My friends ask me how I’m doing pretty much constantly and I can literally talk to them about anything anytime and they there for me.

Find new friends

But not denying that mental health issues are still heavily stigmatized and we need to spend an infinite amount more money and time educating people about them.

I go to College at a school with one of the biggest endowments in the country and it’s brutally competitive. The mental health help u can get is incredibly pathetic. Almost no counselors impossible to get an appointment, Counselors still in school, don’t give a fuck about anything Unless it could affect schools reputation.

Literally had to go to an outside provider to get the help I need. Really really sad and things need to change now, not 20 years down the road when our generation is an absolute mess mental health wise

Many people have already made the decision before they attend therapy or even talk to anyone. Getting rid of the stigma will help don't get me wrong, it is just much, much deeper than that.

I think it is important that people talk about what they feel long before it gets to the point where they need to be talked off the edge. I feel like the hard part, however, is asking for help when you're feeling ok because often times you feel as if you don't need it.

I only say this because it seems like you're perpetuating the idea that people treat you poorly for seeking mental health. Everyone who I have talked to about getting help have been warm and accepting, but like any other health issue I only bring it up when appropriate. Everyone's been there, and if you haven't, it is probably coming.

Everyone else in the hostel is complaining as well so not just me. It’s a unique season because these issues only arise from no snow

I hate it when skiing can’t distract me from shit. Just makes me irritable. And when I’m at that stage, I really need to send it hard to get that rush to forget about it all.

am an i asshole for thinking that UPD should start policing and maybe ticketing solo-skiers heading up LCC/BCC by themselves on heavy congestion days? If the lots are gonna fill up, it would be better if it was groups of people vs. Van life bros driving up alone in their sprinters. The ski bus is ideally designed for people who dont want to drive up the canyon so why not use it? I know its not perfect but its fucking wack seeing solo skiers also cause congestion issues

I don’t know why people don’t catch the bus to the resort it’s way more convenient. Drops your right out front so you don’t have to walk 400m in ski boots.

also I hate rich fucks in sprinters. Sprinters aren’t core.

I managed to get someone to film me hitting this cliff, which was cool. But goddamn people need to realise you can’t just send off the top at max speed for every cliff, you need to be a bit calculated get the take off right etc These guys where expecting me to be Tanner Hall or something and where disappointed when I wasn’t landing it clean asf




This is what it looked like from the top. Cliff was about 15-20ft of air easy.

It's 2000 and friggin 20. Can people please make "choose your own hold music" or be able to link it to spotify/pandora/ anything?

Doesn't seem like a big deal but that shit would be fucking groundbreaking. So many holds are 10 min plus. Sometimes an hour. Not having terrible music and shitty announcements would be killer, and people might actually fucking keep the phone volume up load enough to hear when the people actually come on.

A guy at work had to reset a password over the phone last year. Hold time an hour and 47 minutes. Impressive that he didn't have a meltdown and start breaking shit midway through.

Well fuck. I don't even know really. Friend/roommate died last night. Was pretty sick, like really sick but you can't tell that. Everyone gets scary sick at some point and is usually fine.

He and my other rooomate had been pretty sick a week ago. Both got better. Even yesterhe was feeling alright still. The two days before almost good as new it seemed.

A gnar situation. Roommate had gotten him to take his temp and was teying to make sure he was alright. She woke me up because he collapsed. Me and her bf were able to carry him to the car but he didn't make it to the hospital. 5 minutes away.

We've had the woulda coulda shouldas but I don't think we could have really done anything better other than forcing somebody to go to a doctor(which doesn't work).

Fuck. Dude. I had to get the fuck out of the house. Everyone that was friends with him came over. It was sad af but cool to see how much people lived him. I just couldn't deal with it though. I'm nit good in those situation. And was still in shock about it.

Ended up coming into work last night to get away. I couldnt get a hold of anyone. And even if I didnt show I dont think ayone would have blamed me. They did need me but they would have made it work without. I think I came in more for me than anything else. I used to deal with shit going for a drive and still do sometimes. Was a tough shift at times. I still can't fucking belive it. Like I still 25% believe that I had a weird fucked up dream before I woke up for work, didnt get enough sleep and Im just being weird. That Ill be sitting there eating some food tsking my boots off in a few when he wakes up.

Dude was a happy motherfucker. I never skied with him because he only hits ikons but from what Ive heard since Ive known him he was good.

Hope he's crushing a pow day and raiding a fully stocked kitchen. He loved to ski, loved to eat, and toss in a modelo or 3.

Thanks man. It's been pretty fucked. It's been cool to have some good people around though. I ended up working agter to get out of the house and that turned out to be a good choice. Just drive, build shit, and crank music.

Also got a call from some coworkers anout grabbing breakfast in town. Went to the casino for a few after and then I went back home and had a bunch or drinks and smoked a decent amount with everyone here. It def brough the vibes up. Was tough to get some sleep, had like 4 hours if nothing even though had been drinking. Then finally oassed the fuck out for another 7 or 8 hours which I deeply needed.

We're going to miss the dude. Still some shit to do, and will be constant reminders just from being here but I think we're alright.

Unexpected barely does it justice though.

Life is short. Fuck putting things off for the furute. Do shit that makes you happy, and enjoy the time and good people you have. If anything he had a bunch of friends up here and skied almost everyday, went to see music weekly or more if there were good shows in town. I think he did pretty well.

`My coworker hasn't been to work all week. We have confirmed cases of the flu so I figured she just has the flu.

Turns out her husband found her passed out in their bathroom, called the wee-woo bus and she's been the hospital since. She had a heart attack. Which is not a "no big deal" situation but you know, it's definitely recoverable.

Well now it turns out her heart isn't pumping blood on it's own. I don't have the details but she is in not great shape. I'm no doctor but if your heart isn't pumping on it's own, what are your options? Transplant? Live on a machine forever? Die?

So fucked up honestly. She has kids my age and she's not really old. Maybe late 40s early 50s. My mom had a heart attack for THREE DAYS before going to the hospital, got a stent and left the hospital 2 days later. So I'm having a hard time believing this shit could be that bad, even though logically speaking, yes it's possible. I'm honestly speechless. I can't believe this is happening.

A gnar situation. Roommate had gotten him to take his temp and was teying to make sure he was alright. She woke me up because he collapsed. Me and her bf were able to carry him to the car but he didn't make it to the hospital. 5 minutes away.

We've had the woulda coulda shouldas but I don't think we could have really done anything better other than forcing somebody to go to a doctor(which doesn't work).

Fuck. Dude. I had to get the fuck out of the house. Everyone that was friends with him came over. It was sad af but cool to see how much people lived him. I just couldn't deal with it though. I'm nit good in those situation. And was still in shock about it.

Ended up coming into work last night to get away. I couldnt get a hold of anyone. And even if I didnt show I dont think ayone would have blamed me. They did need me but they would have made it work without. I think I came in more for me than anything else. I used to deal with shit going for a drive and still do sometimes. Was a tough shift at times. I still can't fucking belive it. Like I still 25% believe that I had a weird fucked up dream before I woke up for work, didnt get enough sleep and Im just being weird. That Ill be sitting there eating some food tsking my boots off in a few when he wakes up.

Dude was a happy motherfucker. I never skied with him because he only hits ikons but from what Ive heard since Ive known him he was good.

Hope he's crushing a pow day and raiding a fully stocked kitchen. He loved to ski, loved to eat, and toss in a modelo or 3.

Current update is she is on life support and “if” she makes it through, she will need a transplant. She was transferred from the preferred cardiac unit in our area to a neighboring city. Which is supposed to be of the best in the region. Hoping for the best but it isn’t looking too good.

IDK what it is but The Canyons is a garbage resort for garbage people. Fun terrain but that crowd they get there and the locals who ski there are fucking losers.

This guy crashes into one of my girls today in the lift line, I tell him to ease on the brakes when coming through here, and he just acts like a fucking tool. Dude youre a grown ass man who just crashed into a kid. Go fuck yourself. Terrible resort.

This MLK crowd is full of absolute idiots, at work and on hill has been so stressful since Thursday, so many people that are impatient, dumb and rude, havent really been to canyons this season but can imagine saddle and tombstone areas are a nightmare right now, is a shame that canyons has the best terrain.

I rode yesterday and it "wasn't even crowded" yet. Holy friggin jebus. I heard people swearing at each other from thelift, people almost crashing into each other and me. Saw somebody hit a park crews skis and sidejump in the large park when there's 2 other parks.

Only highlight was blasting by a bunch of people down a sketchy stump/mogul field under the lift, way too fast with a beer in my had, tunes blasting. I couldn't hear shit, but I could hear people shouting from the lift. Made me ride faster, Was one of those lines/ speed that you're stoked when you get out that you didn't tomahawk because, that woulda been fucked. Finding rando stomps rocks and ice errrwhere and not getting bucked is always fun. The wind in my hair and the occasional slap of beer in the face from some of the ridiculous bumps.

But yeah the rest was pretty much douchers traversing good pow sections and trneching it out, and clowns that ski in front of you and go slow as fuck, get in your way, and bay area vibes in general.

Not even riding diamond peak till after the weekend. Glad i got a few laps yesterday and a good day at homewood on wed or thurs.

Fuck holidays. I'd rather ride shit conditions with no people than a deep pow day with crowds. Crowds have ruined good days for me. I fucking hate people. I bought a skateboard this summer because skatepark was empty and mountain was a shitshow.
