Yeah I know there were some rant threads over the years grinds my gears and whatever. I don't think any of them were that happening to dig up. I probably made one of them honestly. Whatever.

I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

DaphI'm so fucking sick of people complaining about the new lifts not being done yet. The resort said in the fucking press release in March that it wouldn't be til mid December for the d-line and later for shedhorn. We're out here working 70+ hours a week in shit weather trying to be done on schedule so it's not for lack of trying. Turns out when you build the first lift of its kind in North America and all the parts have to come from Austria, it takes a little while. People see a chair coming down the line and lose their gourds thinking it opens soon and it's like bruh, these things take weeks of testing and commissioning once they're operational before theyre ready for public. People read false bullshit from the marketing team online and think they're fucking experts and it's driving me insane. Also this 8 pack might be the death of me. Holy balls this things complicated.


Genuine question here since my home mountain is putting in a new 6-pack.



How long does installing a lift usually take? The mountain looks to have the physical terminals and towers installed but it seems to have ground to an apparent halt beyond that from an outsiders perspective. I imagine they're working on internals or perhaps waiting for some parts to arrive but I frankly haven't got a clue. What, in your experience, would be the next step after the physical installation of pieces has occurred ?

I frankly don't care about when it opens since it's right next to an older high-speed quad but they don't seem to be willing ( to the best of my knowledge and understandably so) to open that side of the mountain until the heavy construction equipment is removed from the base area.

Even once towers are landed and basic terminal structure is up, it's weeks and weeks of work after the fact. Lots of internal mechanics that have to be adjusted, electrical things to hook up etc. The fancier the lift, the longer it takes, especially high speeds. And once everything is hooked up and the lift can spin, it's an additional couple weeks of minor tweaks, inspections and testing before it is deemed ready for public.

It either does 1. Make them never come back to the mountains again - which is good because who the fuck wants them or 2. Makes them realize that they're being extra as fuck about their bitching and they end up saying shit like "well.. actually I guess it's not THAT bad..."



City fuckers are so annoying.

That said, I always laugh when customers come into my shop go "um, so I need my skis mounted up tonight right now. I'm trying to go skiing tomorrow morning"

And then when I tell them no, they either have a hissy, or sometimes they even say "well I'll just go somewhere else then" Lol good luck with that bye felicia.


Lolol. As if with that attitude any other shop is gonna put in a rush for em.

You would think opening 10 ish new trails and being open top to bottom would make people happy. Douchey cuntbags can't be pleased. Northstar posts that a bunch of terrain opened, and some photos of the snow. Only 5 comments. I hoped not but I bet that one of them would be bitching about something.

Rendevous bowl opened. There's some good trees and solid base in there. Lots of fun trails. West ridge was getting tag teamed from snowmakers and groomers pushing shit, then us moving guns back out, then back off, then grooming, then getting it open.

But no, a fucking microwave is gone so the season is already a bust I guess. Shitty people are shitty.

Yeah, you know. Obviously there's plenty of snow to open the entire mountain, but the ski area is holding out because it's not in there best interest to open terrain for people. We'll be running 5 trails all season just to make people angry. Jokes on you!

But seriously wtf. People act like 4 inches of natural snow on rocky, stumpy, waterbar filled terrain is enough to open it. And then if you some how magically did they'd bitch that the base wasn't 17feet deep.

At least Denver and NYC peoples have some sort of loose understanding of what snow is and how a mountain works.

I'm getting tired of shit that can't go in the dryer. Why is everything fucking hang dry or "lay flat to dry" where am I supposed to lay it flat? There's only room for one shirt on top of the dryer and it's basically inaccessible because they're stacked not side by side. My bathroom is about to be ridiculous with half a basket of laundry hanging from every crevice.

Fuck this place, commission sounded awesome until I ended up just getting fed all the low payout jobs while the fucking guy who makes a salary gets the higher paying jobs. funny cause I witnessed this at my old job and never saw a positive change. Hardly making 80 bucks a day lately cause the little retail work we get goes to one fucking guy or I split it with someone and make a little more than I would on a non retail job.
Fuck this I'll happily work at a ski shop for 12 an hour doing retail and hate it, rather than do I what I like for work but be paid jack shit.

2015 season the day of Franks at Alta I start bombing down to wildcat and some jerry in a full yellow ski suit side checked me. He destroyed the smith lowdowns I got from Sander Hadley which had become my favorite pair I’d wear them everyday. As I was looking for the remnants of the shades the guy skied away before I could give him a piece of my mind. My skis yard saled and his stayed on. Literally the only time I’ve ever been pissed on the slopes. Fuck that guy he didn’t even apologize. Anyway this has been on the back of my mind for 2.5 years now randomly thinking back to how many memories I could have made with that sweet pair. Until today when I found this thread. I can finally put it past me as I didn’t tell anybody since I didn’t wanna be a little bitch about it or bring anyone down at Franks.

My new bellman ive been working with every night needs to chill out with his TripAdvisor/Yelp obsession.

Both of those sites are pretty scummy when you find out theyve been caught on numerous occasions writing fake and bad reviews for businesses/restaurants/hotels/etc, that didn't pay to use their guest or customer satisfication survey services......Granted the amount of users they have breeds accurate reviews but always take that shit with a minor grain of salt.

working around heavy equipment is cool, but when NO ONE who operates the shit checks fluid levels or greases their machines it really sends me into a tailspin. I left for two weeks to get my head on straight and I came back to an absolute shit show.

I've ran into a rock truck with no hydraulic or trans fluid, a backhoe with literally no trans fluid in it and various different detrimental leaks. My boss is giving me a bit of a break but honestly if you're driving a truck, a loader or anything to pay your bills check your fucking fluids. The 5 minutes it takes you saves people like my ass.

Blows me away how people can get away with skipping what should be a routine check.

Worked around cats the past few seasons whenever I was home and got to witness that shit first hand. Nothing like having to take a bunch of time out of the day to refill hydraulic fluid/regrease everything after the guy who ran the cat for three days straight didn’t even touch the damn thing. Definitely becomes a huge inconvenience/hazard for sure when stuffs supposed to be ready to go.

I mean, I've needed my skis mounted the day of, and there's some shops in Tahoe that'll do that for ya if you ask nice enough even during peak holiday season (Powder house has definitely done it for me, I think tahoe sports hub too).

Our bellman pocketed the keys again tonight, 2nd time this week within a 2 day span, and he lives down in SLC so its like easily at least an hour or more for him to head back up here. I called him to ask if he had the keys, then he has the ultimate "awww fuck" realization moment, starts getting all like pissed on the phone about how now he has to take time out of his evening that should be for relaxing to drive back up, and I'm literally dumbfounded on the phone like I have no retort to that besides "Just get me the keys back so I can get home at a decent hour."

Not like a "oh shit dude, sorry about making you stay waaaay later than you are allowed too or should be, its "Fuck, Im pissed I have to take time out of MY night to go own up to my fuck up."

I mean, you always want to try to help the customer as much as you can, but there's absolutely always a backlog on holidays. Sometimes, it's just not a thing you can do for a customer, no matter how big the pack of beer they bring in. I preach underpromise and overdeliver.

Many people understand, but damn.. sometimes the narcissistic slickers who always get what they want in the city just cannot catch onto the fact that they're late to the party, and I'm not going to promise to get their skis mounted, waxed, and ready for the morning with the shop closing in 30 minutes on the night before they expect to catch first chair. It's not fair to the other customers, or the severely underpaid technician that now has to stay late.

I have been bitched out by many a helicopter parent over the years when I tell them honestly that I can't promise to get their spoiled snotnosed kid's skis ready for the morning. Even in NZ and Aus where we didn't even do calibration tests. It's just real unfair of customers to expect that kinda shit.

Hey guys, I’m sorry but I need to rant here. My mom just shut off my WiFi and won’t let me turn it back on.

I’m having serious Fortnite withdrawal and I don’t know if I’ll make it to tomorrow. I’ve been trying to Worm and Floss enough to keep my body from rotting away, but it isn’t enough. Dare I dance the Take The L? Nay, that irony is too risky. It’s been 3 1/2 minutes and I can feel the cusp of death beginning to grasp at my mind.

The only shot I have is my JUUL but I only have 13 pods left. With each puff I feel myself dying a little more, but at least my clouds are fruity af. The sweet sensation with each hit dissipates in my mouth with the bitter taste of orange cream and lemon. How unfortunate that such a euphoria will soon be forgotten by this tongue.

My ears are ringing and my hands shake. My lip quivers and my body shivers. I can barely lift the JUUL to my mouth. Kidney failure is imminent and rigor mortis is setting in before my mind is gone.

I wish for you to earn many Victory Royales and I hope you never forget me as I pass into the ethereal realm, Orange Justicing my way to a new eternal life.

This. And the closely related phenomena of broguy in 2wd lifted rig doing 80mph in treacherous conditions, combined causing intermittent closure and chain controls on Donner Summit when it's drizzling an 38F. Creates a wonderfully unnecessary 2.5hour delay, I love those.

Spliutboard, sorrels, tv, ski pants, and some other shit are at my friends house in Sac.

They're super flaky and hard to get a hold of. Awesome otherwise but a pain. Finally just rolled down to get my shit yesterday. No text of facebook replies, no answer on phone, and door code changed. Dope. So wasted 4 hours or so of my day yesterday for nothing.

Sucks because at the moment I have snowboard boots, lowcut shoes, and sandals. Obviously the snowboard boots are the only ones that work for making snow. 12.5 hour shifts 6 days a week, it would be cool to be able to switch boots and dry a pair out.

Also conditions are good to go in the BC finally. Was going to wait another storm possibly but want to have my fucking gear. Appreciate them letting me store a few things here while I was gone for the summer but damn. If a day doesn't work let me know a time that does or at least acknowledge me.

I go to my local mountain quite a bit every year and for some reason its 95% snowboarders maybe 5-6 decent skiers that go at least 2-3 times a year. Anyway the best part is theres a small 5 feature lap park with a rope tow the bad thing is that every time im in the line of like three people these bum ass snowboarders hop from side to side and run my tips over at least 50 times a day. This gets super annoying and at some point i'm gonna loose it and it probably wont be pretty. There honestly a bunch of fucks, its not that I actually hate the sport its the just the people that do it at my local hill. I think the next person tho does it i might just jump on the board until the topsheets are ruined. This just really infuriates me for some reason and the skis do take a beating after a while.
