*SBCmingg*It pretty much still is around here too. The one park I was hiking the other day had a sign that said "Snowboard park." In middle/ high school, a lot of above average skiers switched to snowboarding because it was "cooler." Every girl I've ever gone to the hill with was a snowboarder. All but one of those girls wanted to take a break every 5 runs which was annoying as hell.

Also, a friend of mine during freshmen year wanted to start a sport. I thought that was pretty cool because she was looked at as a super uncoordinated preppy girl(100% true though). She ended up making a list of sports that she wanted to try. She ranked the sports from 1 to whatever based on "cuteness" and "coolness." Snowboarding was number 1 on that list... Her parents bought her like 1200 worth of snowboarding gear. Ultimately, she ended up sucking ass but still likes to label herself as a snowboarder just so she can convince herself that she is cool, I assume.

Oh and why is driving so fucking difficult for people? Jesus, this whole week has been filled with dickbags in automobiles too and from the resort. Especially tourists in rent-a-cars. I see it all the time with racist assholes where I live. They can have an opinion, I would fight to help them keep freedom of speech, but I'm not going to go "congratulations, that is a very interesting opinion you have there sir" when they say some things that I won't post on here.

Actually somebody changed one of the restaurant signs to say no mexicans or n*****s. That was a nice greeting for people coming into town. The best part is that's less of a joke and more of a popular opinion.

Idk. I hate it on both fronts. I don't want to censor people but the idea of "well everyone has an opinion" doesn't make the shit people say valid.

As far as NS, it's an internet community. The rules and intensity of those rules very from forum to forum. It's a ski forum, with a TON of unrelated shit which is great. They decided that they wanted to move more away from certain bullshit and that's what they've done. I can understand why they wouldn't want to have racist, homophobic, or whatever stuff on their forums. I doubt they want the government to censor people but they're drawing a line and saying this is the way it's gonna be and that's just it.

If that's not it than I really have no idea what you're talking about. People being called racist that aren't being racist? that one kind of stumped me.

Then outside the city isn't that much different from Montana, yeah it's a little more dry, but there's still a shit ton of ranches and farms. Also, the people there have just as big of trucks and are just as "cowboy" as you are. It really rubs me the wrong way sometimes.

(this is coming from my 25 years of experience living in an area of Montana that is NOT Bozeman) its 100% about change. Montana has an old fashion mind sense. We dont like to see change. Most original Montanans are happy with the way it is. It works great for us, so why the hell would we want it to change? We dont need a "big city life", we dont want that. And the more out-of-staters that come in to our state, the bigger it gets and the more "city" it becomes. Especially when they are spoiled, rich college kids from minnesota, colorado, or california that bring in daddys wallet to make changes.

I know in my life so far, there has been major changes to the state. Shit, when my mom went to school in bozo (only ~40 years ago), bozeman was a complete cow town. 19th was a dirt road, there was one radio station that only played twangy country and the towns population was tiny. I know PLENTY of Montanans that visit the Bozeman area, come back and all say the same thing; Its not Montana. It has changed and is completely different from the rest of the state. And original Montanas arnt fond of it.

Kooky_LukeyAfter living in Montana for 3 years now I am reaching my limit with the people here. Yes I love it here and yes the people are very friendly for the most part, but I fucking hate it when "Montanans" start talking about out of staters and their hatred towards them.

Guess what, if you are white and living in Montana someone in your family somewhere down the line came across on a boat from a different country and then moved there. So you are a fucking out of stater too. I've never heard one native american complain about out of staters or white people and they actually have a reason to complain.

Their reasons are population density and that out of staters don't know how to drive. NEWS FLASH Montana was ranked second in worst drivers of the nation so I think it is you who is the bad driver. Also Montana is fucking 48th in population density. The only ones behind it are Alaska and Wyoming. Montana will NEVER be overrun with people, it just won't. There are no ports and could never be a self sustaining country on it's own and there are not big enough cities to create a fuck ton of jobs so it will never happen.

Maybe because people want to be a normal society and it creates jobs in Montana? 10.9 Million non resident people visited Montana last year. Number one, that is over 10 times the amount of people that live in Montana (which is just over 1 million) and it made up 11% of Montana's earnings.

CheeFFirst of all you have lived in Montana for 3 years. I have lived here my entire life and have watched the reason for out of staters (specifically californians) fuck up Montana. This is largely due to big money buying out all the land, competing with local agriculture, and imposing bs environmental laws. A lot of people in this state are decedents from those who homesteaded the area (Sierra Club). It's tough to live in Montana, so people take pride in calling it there home. You should ask someone about this to balance your opinion. It's not coincidence that a lot of Montanans feel this way.

theabortionatorState pride is kind of a joke imo. Everyone love's their state. Vermont, Colorado, California, New York, Montana allegedly. Maybe a few states that nobody like but for the most part everyone's state is "special".

There are lot's of differences between states, there are some really cool things about certain states, I just don't really get the state pride thing.

Also everything on all the "popular"stations sounds like shit in my ears like what happened in that one south park episode. Even like the rock stations play this weird pop rock or indie garbage... the only thing I can listen to is when they have like throwback lunches where they play old music. So I just assumed that new music is shit..

But every year I always get the same comments from family members, oh you look so great in a dress, why don't you wear girls clothes more instead of looking like a punk? Or how one of my 50 cousins just got another degree and just moved somewhere amazing to practice law, or be a doctor, or moved to Egypt to teach anthropology at university. Like screw all of you. Just because I would rather wear oversized flannels and snapbacks doesn't make me a bad person, and the fact that I don't want to spend half my life in grad school doesn't mean I'm not going to do anything worthwhile. I always feel like they're ashamed of me when I visit and it sucks.
