Replying to Best golf ball?

After shooting one of the best rounds of golf I've played in a while with a new ball, I was wondering your opinion on what you think is best and worst and why.
I was hitting Calloway chrome+ balls which played pretty well.
My favorite are Pro V1s but they get beat up so quickly. I cracked the outer shell on four balls and chipped two more in two rounds of golf. I don't like spending $40-$50 on balls that die so easily. But, they sure do hit well.
