This morning at work when someone was walking out the door and said "see ya" I replied with "thank you".

Am I retarded or do other people do this sometimes too? If so tell me what you said to help console me.

When I worked at McD's in college, I had had my customer interactions in drive-thru pretty much scripted, because when you have to talk to 100 strangers an hour, you stop giving a fuck. If the customer said something out of the ordinary, I might reply with something that didn't make sense, like:

Me: How's it going?
Customer: Not too good, I have to self-surrender at prison today.
Me: Good! $4.40 Please.
