I prefer to say downhill skateboarding. When you say longboarding everybody just assumes cruising. And you then have to explain how you got that roadrash or whatever. Say downhill skateboarding and they know what you are talking about.

As an avid, and rather proficient, skater and lonboarder:

If you tell people you got a roadrash downhill skating they will think you sound like a giant idiot, if you tell them you got it longboarding they will think you're a giant pussy.

Tell them you got it skating or skiing urban.

Very very true. It's pretty much a lose lose situation. People really don't understand how gnarly longboarding can get.

People were so confused on how I snapped my ankle and got a back full of road rash last year lol. Well I was going 40 mph and tomahawked...."But dude there is no way you hit even close to 40. You get speed wobbles going like 15."....ugh-_-

lol i got pulled over yesterday for speeding. Going 35 in a 25, and my non-longboarding friends wouldn't even believe me.

PS, i need to learn toeside slides at high speeds. How do i lern?????

Nah, because this isn't skating. It's downhill skateboarding. It's not longboarding either, longboarding is for gapers and guys named chad. Down hill skateboarding is gnarly hill bombing. Skateboarding however takes more skill and involves tricks and sending yourself.

Hahaha that's awesome, the cops in my town don't care, and I have had them cheer me on before. Just skate respectably and give cars the right of way and most people won't mind.

As for toe sides, I'm in the same boat! I just started learning them at higher speeds and they are scary AF. My advice would just be to wear your pads hahaha

Keep your body square down the hill and keep most of your weight on your front foot. Also, favor the uphill side because its better to put your gloves down than to highside.

I like to look downhill for toeside slides, or perhaps it's kind of necessary. If you look backwards you hook up and high side or go flying.

Imma try it today, the thing is I can toeside at really slow speeds pretty easily, and i can heelside at high speeds, but I just havent ever felt confident enough when I'm charging to fully commit to it.

Where people know longboarding is gnarly (SoCal, NoCal), they think you mean surfing when you say longboarding. In the Midwest, if people see you longboard, they want to "ride" with you because many people use it to cruise around. Then you end up by yourself cause most people suck

I gotta upload the video of my buddy drifting off a corner into a guard rail, the sound is amazing though he got really fucked up

OP you should shred a regular board with soft wheels down hills, a shorter wheel distance doesnt mean you cant go as fast, it just takes way more skill

you can't have those snowboard like carving turns on a short wheel base.
