I just got home from a sweet day of kayaking and was too lazy to look around for the other kayaking thread...so i decided to make my own...KAYAKING IS SO SICK!!! any thoughts? (about kayaking)

It looks like fun, but I can't hold my breath under water for any time at all so I probably won't try too much. Rafting I'd be more comfortable with.

are you talking about white water kayaking? any kayaking is sweet. I paddle those flatwater ones. they're no fun. They go damn fast. but if you're not a stable person you're in the water and you have to get back in on land.

i'm talking white water!!! check out the vid i just put up...that was from today, and all in all, a really easy drop...but we're trying to find some better stuff around here...we're doing elbow falls in two weeks...it's about 8 feet higher, and there's about 3 times as much water going over it

Jodi, u did the lower Niagara? Shit, thats some intense shit down there. I live near there, and even below the Whirlpool is intense. Props to ya girl. Got more balls then me!

lower niagra is crazy some calss 6 in their, i went on that jet boat ride and we went in class 5 its huge...


I just got a new boat for whitewater!!! Its a piece but hey, i cant wait to learn more this summer, im going to a camp soon.

anyone read about the guys that completed the upper gorge on the tsanpo or something like that in tibet? I rmember watching another thing about it a couple years ago on explorer and it showed the guy go under a waterfall and never come out. So this time the completed it and the pictures are amazing. 25,000 cubic feet per second and the grade is 15 times of the Colorado river in the Grand Canyon. i dont kayak but seeing stuff like that in pics and movies is pretty amazing



where does all the white go when the snow melts?

Ya, lower Niagara is 5s and 6s. Insane shit. There's parts that'd swollow godzilla down there. I went on that jetboat thing too. If you went anywhere above the Whirlpool in a kayak, you'd be killed for sure.

yeah, i heard about a pro kayaker who was in class 4 and he got in a whirl pool and got trapped to the bottom, his body was trapped down there for months....dangerous stuff

kayaking kicks ass...cliff jumping kicks a little bit more though. my friend use to go in pa and when they'd find a nice drop, instead of hiking around it and getting back in their boats they'd jump the cliff and have someone toss their boat down.

yeah, that thing on the tsangpo was so amazing...tibet rules....and why would you hike around, or jump and throw your boat...why not run the drop?
