So I'm flying Geneva-Auckland with emirates in 2 weeks and wondering what peoples experiences this year had been as all threads i could find are a few years old.
They have a 7kg allowance on hand luggage would this include if i took boots over my shoulder? Can i take a backpack and boots?
Tried phoning the airline and they were pretty useless as i kept getting redirected to india.

Have you looked at the ski allowance. Usually it's a ski bag and a separate boot bag. That can be a nice way to go as it free's you up a bit. But if you need them hand luggage you shoul be good with a rucksack an the boots. They normally allow 2 items such as a bag and laptop.

Yer they allow 30kgs overall across 2 bags.
Normally i travel with a terminal bag that fits my ski boots for handluggage but puts me at 8kgs without anything else. So opting for just using my 20l backpack and hoping to shoulder carry boots.
I have a 140l duffel i can use and shove my boots in. but was hoping to take my smaller hold bag to reduce the amount of luggage in our van.

We'll yeah if you just want one hold bag just take them over your shoulder. I have done it a couple of times this year and it has been fine. Just stick them up in the overhead as soon as you get on. Maybe try email emirates to confirm but I was fine on ba and Swiss this year so I would guess emirates woul be similar.

I have flown with my boots about a 100 times (my checked bags are always on the limit) with a tonne of airlines and have only been questioned about them a few times, even then I just said I would wear them and it worked out. Proper airlines like Emirates have never worried about them at all (Ryanair is the worst).
All times are Eastern (-5)
