Daily driver lens

A lot of people like the tamron 17-50 2.8 non-vc. It covers that range and is pretty sharp.

I thought about it but I want something with more range. I would consider getting that later onto compliment/fill in if I got a telephoto, but I want something that can get a little longer. Going to be shooting in a city and don't want to carry around multiple lenses (except for a 50mm)

Although kinda expensive, the Canon 24-105 is a really nice lens and a perfect focal length for a "walk around lens"

This is a lot more what I'm lookin for.

To anybody with experiences with it: are there any reasons not to get the 28-135. Besides missing a little on the wide end (which I could even hold on to the 18-55 to fill if I ever absolutely need it) it seems like a great lens for what I need, and can be found at a reasonable price

The 28-135 is an alright lens, and it is extremely cheap. The canon 24-105 is old, but it's still really good. You can get good second hand deals on it. It's better built and the IQ is better than on the 28-135. A lot of people like the tamron 24-70 f2.8, it's faster than either of the canons and costs about 1k less than the canon equivalent. The nice thing about this is it fits in perfectly if you choose to get a tele-zoom, because canons best teles are 70-200, but it might be a bit above your price range.

I really liked the 28-135, you won't miss the 16-28 range at all. The IQ is good enough, and the build quality is pretty good for a non-L lens. The autofocus is also super quiet, if you're into that. FYI the focus ring is kind of delicate. Mine fell out of a golf cart going fast and I lost the ability to focus (manual and auto)
