you should make a W-rail. you know how breck and key have Z-rails, just add another elbow. then hit it at high speeds while drunk.
Lol I like the getting drunk and hitting it at high speeds. IF I had some more wood lying around I'd probably build a loop. I feel like building something stupid. Would def get drunk and hit that. On my list of things to do eventually. Not going to cry if I don't but If I ever have extra lumber or $ and nothing better to do why the hell not.
I've been pausing netflix movies in the middle of action to sit and ponder rail designs.
I need to get that fix.
I get to start building some beginner boxes in a few weeks. And hopefully get some sandcastle action going in the snow.
I'm fucking rocking back in my chair just tweaking. I have problems. I need to build shit. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I think I still have some pvc in my garage from back in the day. I brought all my 2x4s to the mounatin to build a wallride but maybe I'll ductape them together and get drunk and hit them on a scooter.
Do it now and post pics. Maybe I can live vicariously through your project. The itch bro. I can't take it. It's been over 2 months since I've done anything.
I'm fiending for projects.
I think next spring I'm going to find somebody that wants a mini ramp and build one for them. Just something to take the edge off.
Sketchup is cool but it's not enough.
/I'm leaving now don't worry. The internet will be safe for a while. If I scare you too much don't be afraid to use bear spray.
Just got the hook up on a free 6inx15ft PVC pipe that the kid never built any frame for. Tempted on a 6ft-2ft-7ft DFD. maybe an up-down. or maybe just a long flat tube.

I would keep it as a full tube. Once you cut it it's cut for good. Idk how much of a pain it is to get big pvc for cheap though. Short dfd's can suck sometimes. IF you do it with regular size and you hate it or don't like dimensions you only wasted like $10 worth.
Out of curiosity do you have a hill or are you going to have a dfd start high and end low? Or do you have an elevated drop kicker.
Idk. Just trying to visualize the plans.
But I'm freaking out so don't listen to me.
OMG MAKE A GIANT POTATO GUN RAIL. Aim it at the drop in. So you have to do a trick onto it but you could get shot with a high speed potato any time. It would really add something.
SEriously do this but don't because I'm freaking out and my ideas are crazy.

I'd say that pipe is probably worth around $50. A lot of people dumpster dive. I found a large piece of PVC behind this building that just had a bunch of rusting appliances and broken plastic things, been debating taking it but stealing is a really fucked up thing to do, I've only thought it's alright because it looks like it's in with trash. Maybe it's a picker shop and I could legally acquire it, i don't know.
I do have a hill, but I don't think I'll get to have the rail. The rail is going to some friends of mine who have a sketchy summer setup and I'll probably just make them a flat tube. But damn I'm tempted to give them a hard rail- but that's just more work for me. If it were my rail I'd go nuts.
Tempted on the potato gun rail. Really contemplating a stripper pole, maybe a c-rail, wait..... A DROPPER/WATERFALLL HOLOOLLLYYY FKKKKK IDK IF ANYJUAN HAZ DONE THAT I'M ON IT RIGHT NUW
john18061806Just sketched up a design for it!!! Hypeddd
3 foot sections are very short. You might want to just measure it out with some 2x4s first and see if you'll be happy with it. I guess the lack of speed will keep you from flying over it but def make sure you'll be happy with 3' 3 3 before you cut your pipe.
3ft sections allow for trick possibilities that include gaps (swap over the middle), or disasters to the second and third section. also, the speed is something fun to play with in the backyard, currently I only use my rails in the winter. Since space is so limited, a 20ft rail feels gigantic in my yard.

You should take advantage of the down time and make super intricate plans for every hit you could possibly imagine. Then when you have a piece of PVC and want to use it, you can just check your super detailed plans and decide what to make.
When you get back to building stuff, you should make rails that are really low and then build a bunch of support struts of varying sizes so you can make battleships and dfds with 3 rails, and have as many crazy combinations as you want.
Just a thought to help you get through the pain brudda

If I knew somebody that wanted a pvc rail I'd probably just build them one. I really don't have any use though. I'll be gone for the summer anyway and in the winter I'll be at the mountain all the time/ probably not even living here.
I've def thought through some different video park and rail jam setups I'd like to build. Thought them through and streamlined them into some pretty good ideas. The first place that lets me build them get's them.
On the plus side bouncing to nz in under 2 weeks. First thing on the agenda is building some new beginner features. I've got some ideas on some stuff for that. And apparently there's a shit ton of snowmaking pipe so once the beginner stuff is done it might be time for tube city.
Just hoping my brain holds up enough for me to get it done.
How did you attach the tube to the feet? That has always been a problem for me. The first time I made a rail I just screwed up into it, but now I tend to bolt the ends down first and then add screws for lateral stability, and they are pretty solid. Problem is I dont really know how to make removable legs, and I spent a good half hour messing with 2x6s to try to do it, but the only design I came up with consisted of two interconnected X shapes as the legs.

What are some of your ideas?
Although I don't build parks like you, I really like to plan out seperate super flowy features and draw random shit all the time. Its kinda relaxing. I think I will try to work in a park crew for a year at some point.

Idk what they have so far. Probably going to build a few 8' boxes and rails. Thinking of doing 2 1' wide ones. Then maybe a 1.5' wide. A couple 2x6 rails. Maybe a mini aframe rail/ box.
I'd like to build some big tube rails. Haven't gotten a chance yet. Thinking along the lines of what mammoth did a few years ago. Big down tube and down flat tube. Maybe a dfd.
I heard the weather is shit sometimes where I'm going so I'm hoping if the mountains closed for a few days at any point I can just set up in the shop and turn something new out.
I guess it depends on what they have what they need and if there's good people helping me. If the materials are there, I have some help, and we have free time I'd really like to beef up their rail fleet.
Still getting over a bad head injury so hoping when I get into the cool air that chills out. Will make things a lot easier.
Def keep up with your ideas. Look at setups that exist, good ones bad ones everything. If something sucks Why? if something is awesome why? Then if you get on park crew that will help you make better stuff.
Honestly it's a fun gig. A lot of work and you'll never get rich doing it but it's great. I can't think of anything I'd rather do.
