I had always been told that Aluminium Poles were designed to snap under a certain weight to prevent yourself from being impaled by them in a serious crash, is this true? Is this why wooden poles are no longer really in existence besides a few companies? I'm posting this thread because of a photo I came across advertising Bamboo poles which are stronger and less susceptible to snapping, But couldn't this be advertising that they are more dangerous to ski with even if the company was unaware. I could be completely wrong on this whole subject so go easy if I made a mistake.
