I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

If anyone’s in the market for an enduro hardtail at the end of this season hmu, I’m trying to get rid of this thing. It absolutely rips, I just need a bigger bike for the type of trails I’m riding

I like my TLD sprints and will fs continue buying them. My dad has the specialized demo pants and really likes them too

I wish, some kid at the bottom just happened to take this pic, no vids. Basically I made it onto the deck but my bike did not. Second go wasn't the cleanest but I didn't feel like pushing my luck any more. I'll get a good clip next time I go up

Mar-OJust finished building a truing stand, wanted one for a long time but never been able to justify buying one so it turned into a fun little project instead. Was pretty easy to make and it's fully adjustable to any wheel size and can be packed down for easier storage and to bring on road trips.







Did you come up with the pattern yourself or find it online? Looks awesome!!

I have the woman’s version, but the FOX defend x Kevlar are my go to pants.

Thank you, searched for a bit but didn't find anything i really liked so came up with this myself. Didn't make any plan/drawing before starting out though so I made most parts twice as I came up with better ideas in the prosess.. One good thing with just making it super adjustable was that I didn't really need to measure anything as it would fit anyways.

If anyone wants to make something similar I just added a thin cords with a tautline hitch to easily secure the wheel down on both side, worked really well to secure it from moving around when tightening spokes.

Sorry you have to pay a couple dollars a month to access the full version of mtb trail maps for the entire world. They gotta pay the bills somehow and its not a lot to ask to pay $1.50 a month for such a good resource.

This logic would work if there wasn't apps like mtb project that are free and work nearly exactly the same.

They could profit off of advertising instead of users. Could you imagine if they charged for phone books back in the day? Lmao

My problem isn’t with it being too expensive. I can definitely afford $1.50/month. But it’s always been free. It’s the same slap on the dick as my landlord jacking up the rent. I didn’t agree to this.

No one want to pay for anything digital but everything is becoming digital. Thats why the whole internet economy is based around ads and selling our attention. If we all just payed a few dollars a months to use social media without ads, they wouldn't have to design it to be super addicting.

Running and maintaining trailforks costs money and I think it's worth a $1.50/month. If you say other apps do the same thing for free then just use the other apps

New bike day is the best day. Got my scout and have it in the 150/160 configuration. Too damn good. Took it to Bend and broke it in this week. Very hyped on this one.

Does it still retain the same level of playfulness as the stock travel? Love the Scout. Would love it even more in your configuration.

If you're anywhere near the Tetons this is going to be a good time on Saturday. We'll have free beer, the XC course always surprises folks with how interesting and technical it is, and I have a feeling the jump jam will go off this year. Come party!

Yeah! That's the whole point. Around here there are zero events for people who just want to try tricks and hit jumps. Everything from first gaps to trying spins.

I put this event on last year, and had two younger kids who were really keen to send, but also were casing the big trick jump because they just didn't weigh enough to carry speed into it. Now, a year later, both of them have a whole bunch of new tricks to try out in the comp, and literally everyone who entered last year has twice as many tricks now as they did then. And we've been able to use it as leverage to get funding and space to build a big jump line in the city park. Super selfish, since I'm not even a strong dirt jumper, but I love to watch and shoot it, and I really wish I'd had stuff like this as a kid.

So good to hear! having gone from terrified of jumps to trying barspins in a summer, mostly with reliance on backwoods builds, more public jumps are always exciting to hear about.

Skierman is right, with a harsher tone than may be necessary. He has a tendency to be correct. Hard to find examples of him being factually wrong.

Your frame isn't squeaking unless something is seriously broken and there are two cracked carbon edges rubbing on each other. Instead, one of the moving parts of your bike is rubbing on another part. That could be suspension bearings, drivetrain, brakes, headset, BB, pedals, or the bar/stem, bar/grips, or even pedal/shoe interface. There are lots of places to squeaks and creaks to come from on a modern mountain bike. The frame itself is not one of them.

If the weather aint too shitty go for a south wheeler to burro loop from peak 9 rd. If it's looking bad in the high alpine a west ridge Colorado Trail loop from tiger rd would give ya a long fast downhill. Feel free to message me for more details if ya want.

I have an alloy Trek fuel ex 8 and it had all sorts of squeaking and creaking noises. Last winter I rebuilt the headset and all rear suspension linkage. Pulled it apart, used some degreaser, a brush, and an air compressor to clean it all out (avoid using water) and rebuilt it with ample grease, anti seize and lubrication and I haven’t had a single sound come out of her all this season.

My bikes been in the shop for a rear wheel rebuild for over a month now waiting for spokes to arrive. Honestly fuckin with my mental health at this point. I just know its finally gonna b ready the second riding season is over. Also I kinda get paralyzed in inaction whenever Im waiting for something. Really hard for me to make plans knowing that the second I get it back im gonna want my schedule wide open to ride as much as possible

Appreciate that and that will definitely be the move next summer but can’t afford it now this late in the season with some big ski related purchases coming up
