I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Was this today or yesterday?! Is been so warm the last fews days. How stoked are you for tuesdays weather??

Im half real pumped. I have this niave thought that once snow falls and I'm on a lift and snow again that magically this pandemic is over and because of that I'm excited for winter and snow.

Im also anti stoked because were gonna hit this lil time slot where you cant bike anymore nor ski yet.

Im sure snowfall gets the people going and a boost in gear sales!!

Couple days ago when we got that dusting. Early snow means early ski sales (even though summer has actually been great for us) so I’m pumped. Although our bike season is always so short I never really want snow until December, hope I’m allowed to say that since I run a ski shop!! Hahaha

After talking with a lot of VR employees it really doesn’t sound like the reservation system will be any issue for local passholders except for Saturday’s and holidays. Just gotta work the system like anything these days!!

Just put a Transition Scout XT on order. Should be here by the end of the month. I also bought a 160mm 36 Grip 2 and will be putting a 205x62.5 shock on it to make it a 150/160 bike. very excited.

when you extend the travel in the rear do you have to change the linkage at all? how does it fuck with geo?

Transition designed this bike to be able to run a 62.5mm stroke with a 160 fork without drastically changing the geo. The bb will be a tad higher, but thats it. the 57.5mm stroke shock it comes with is actually a 62.5 with a spacer in it to reduce the travel. All you do is remove the spacer.

I'm confused, I thought it was the same eye to eye length but different stroke, so the only minor difference in BB height will be when the shock is compressed.



In other news I ride my mountain bike about once a week, just built up a gravel bike, I'm about to order a fatbike and maybe not get a ski pass, and I can no longer wheelie more than 20 feet. So that's how my life is going I guess.

You are correct there. The only reason the BB will be a tad higher is because I will be putting a 160mm fork on it. bike comes with the fork spec'd at 150mm.

Why is the suspension in the back sooo low?! Haha what are those bikes 250 pounds each?! Also how is that ski box attached? Looks like it just placed on the flex for the pic.

Eitherway lets see a fuckin sick burnout! 100% would drive with studded snow tires all winter long. This thing fucks!!

Rear shocks are blown, plus back was full of all my shit for school this year

box is bolted straight to a set of acrylic t tops, got a second set of normal ones when the ski box isnt on.

First week living out west and my bike got stolen. I felt pretty safe about it being locked up in underground parking that only building residents can access pretty far from down town but my bikes will be staying in my room with me from now on

Yeah 2018 altitude. I have pretty good insurance through my parents so I think I’ll get a decent amount back. The police also seem kinda optimistic about finding the bike but I know not to get my hopes up

Bought a $500 Bottlerocket as a wedding present to myself. I've wanted one since 8th grade, and now that the City is working to get us a big grant to build a real slope course and better jump sets I can sorta justify a DJ. Not really, but sorta.

Unfortunately there is only one safe place to ever store a bike, which is in your house. Even a garage is not safe at all, in popular riding areas thieves actually stake out trailheads then follow you home and will come back later to break into your garage to steal your ride. Bringing it inside is the only solution, they won't bother if they have to search your house.

Bro I had an oldschool Kona Entourage 2012 DH that I absolutely loved, I'd ride it around stamford CT anytime I was drinking. One night I come out of the bar and it's gone. I was pissed, bike was still probably worth about 800, with the new coil and fork I had put on it. Anyway about 5 months later, just weeks before I moved out of Stamford I see some little shithead kid wheelying towards me. Needless to say I got my bike back. Keep an eye out in local bike shops and on Pink Bike.

Chances are you'll find it.

Update: Rode Teton Pass on it yesterday. Took me like 2 minutes to be completely comfortable on it and hit everything on Jimmy's/Parallel that I usually ride on my 2020 Enduro. For a bike that came out in 2006, it's so damn capable, good reminder that while modern bikes are better, they're not that much better for jumps/little bit of tech riding, as long as you've got a shuttle. Also a good reminder that I (and most non-sponsored riders IMO) are SO far from finding the actual edge of what modern bikes are capable of.

Yeah the fence didn’t do much to stop him. Took a while for him to grind through my u lock though. He’s lucky no one walked down to get in their car while he had sparks flying everywhere

I've been looking at a used 2012 Transition bottlerocket a my first full sus bike. It seemed like it would be a great all around bike for what I do. The only thing is to get the money for it.

I recently bought a YT Capra Base, and the Yari fork is the loudest, weakest, most annoying thing ever. I tried my buddy's bike, and his Fox 38 is so much smoother. I tried a bike with a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 on it and even that felt better, despite being the same price.

Just finished building a truing stand, wanted one for a long time but never been able to justify buying one so it turned into a fun little project instead. Was pretty easy to make and it's fully adjustable to any wheel size and can be packed down for easier storage and to bring on road trips.

Big slam yesterday, missed the landing of a road gap step down, acquired one large hole(deepest portion is a little over a 1/2”) in my side and spent most of last night in the hospital as they tried to find out if my spleen was alright. Luckily it was, but im probably gonna miss most of the remaining bike season and pretty bummed about it.
