I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

pretty surreal evening. Left my bike unlocked outside a gas station leaning against the window thinking I could keep an eye on it the whole time. Turned my back for less than 10 seconds and it was gone. After an hour of walking around I found it at a homeless camp/ bike chop shop and stole it back. Lotta emotions lol

muffMan.Fat L today, bent my fork and front axle. Didn’t realize pegs were loose.

How bad is it to hammer it back straight? When I set it up no peg it felt fine tightened and secured


get some hub guards yo. they are cheap as fuck. probably fine to just hit it back with a mallet. would try and hit it with a heat gun first if available. that seems pretty minor. i have bent a few forks right near the base of the headset and bent them back and got hella time out of them.

also, scotty chill. its a bmx bike. who the fuck takes anextremely simplistic bmx bike to a shop?!

That happened to me. I rode my bike downtown and locked it up on a tree but was so drunk i didnt correctly put the lock on. 6 months later I see this litle hooligan riding up the road at me wheelying and i tell him thats my bike and grab onto it and he runs away. The lady with the baby strolling by starts screaming at me and says she was going to call the cops. I told her go ahead this is my fucking bike and rode off.

Chromag frame will easily be my next big purchase for my other bike, steel hard tail sounds so dope.

As a lifetime hardtail rider, chromags are awful. Ragley makes way better steel bikes for cheaper. As well as many other companies. Chromags are so stiff they rattle ur teeth out

I’m in a pinch and could really use some cash. I have a 1 season used set of Code RSC brakes I’d be willing to part with. Lines are cut for an XL bike and they are bled and ready to go. They have metallic pads with 60% life left as well as a second set of brand new metallic pads. Lmk if ur interested

Respectfully disagree - I absolutely love my Chromag Rootdown, I have 2.6 tires and carbon bars which def help the compliance a bit. I've done everything from bike park laps to 50 mile xc races on it, perfect complement to my Spire.

Never tried a Ragley but demoed a Kona Honzo ESD and Marin El Roy and liked the feel and geo of the Rootdown a lot more.

I think I could handle a chromag, it might be stiff but that’s what I’m looking for. Right now i have a meta ht from commencal, I love the geo but interested in other material.

Pretty sure I’m gonna go stylus just because I like flowy jump stuff more.

Do it - The Stylus looks sweet, I'm 29 guy on my mtb rigs so I can share wheelsets but got a DJ for the jumps too. A lot of their hardtails just went on sale direct from their site also...

All I’m saying is I see a lot of people jump to chromags because they’ve been in the game forever. Rn we are in the golden age of hardtails and there are a lot of bikes out there that might do what you want a lot better than a chromag. Check out Hardtail Party on YouTube. Steve is a legend and knows more about hardtails than just about anyone else. I ride double black tech trails on my 140 travel aluminum Ragley and I’d take it any day over a chromag. Better geo, better frame, more compliant and energetic, again all my opinion but it’s worth investigating

I just snapped my rear triangle yesterday on the lip of a jump (no crash nothin j in the transition of that shit). it's a polygon and contacting them is a bitch. I already sent them an email, anything else I should do?

I live in SLC, I'm about to sell my XL 2018 Santa Cruz Hightower LT if you're interested. It fits more like a large, sizing is weird on it. Upgraded shock to DPX2, new tires, GX Eagle drivetrain. Brakes might need a burp or bleed, I haven't ridden it since May but it's good to go otherwise.

Really trying to stick out another season on my frankensteined mullet Clash for budgetary reasons, but I'm tempted to see what this guy's bottom dollar is. Bike looks like it's been through hell and back (plus a possible toptube crack/chip).

If I have a really good carbon repair guy, does this make sense for beating the absolute shit out of at the bike park and doing a bit of pedaling occasionally? https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3724849/

Or should I get a Giga frame for $2500 and build it up?
I like the DH mods you can do to the Norco, but no warranty would be sketchy as fuck.

Have them send you a video of them doing the tap test on it. But no, I wouldn't spend 3.2k on a bike that's been beat to shit and has an 11 drive train, even if only 1 year old

I got one July last summer it is a fucking beast I got full29 carbon that shit is so much better than my nukeproof I’m just bout to throw a cascade link and go grab a new boxxer and get some fr560s built for it and just park bike it and not build the supreme this winter

Do it dude. Spires are awesome, so fun and easy to get airborne for the geo numbers, don't let the CS number turn you off. Some crazy deals going on the Transition closeout site section rn too.

I just shuttle and go on trail rides year around cuz it’s never winter where I live anymore. Fat bikes are not half as fun as an actual mtb in the snow u don’t be sliding as getting as loose fr

nope. I just bike on dirt because I love skiing too much. I laugh at how many people ride fat bikes in our ski town! Though I just ordered a decent no board pow surfer as my other winter activity. and my 3 yr old is getting her first snowboard (she already skis some).

Yeah I tried fatbiking for a little while but it isn't even remotely close to as fun as skiing. I'd rather just go ride a spin bike for a while to get similar cardio then go skiing.

I can totally see why they wouldn't be popular in mountain towns with consistent snow though.

I had a fat bike last season, ended up selling it this fall because I got shoulder surgery and wouldn't have been able to use it till April. I had a blast last winter though, we have about 20 miles of groomed singletrack in Leadville CO (with a few jump/bermy flow trails), and a whole lot more packed xc ski/snowmobile double track you can access from town too. It was great for easily getting outside on days when it hadn't snowed for a bit, so much easier riding from the house rather than getting packed up and boots on to go BC ski somewhere. I actually did a handful of xc style races on it too, really works balance skills that you don't consider while riding the same trails on a MTB and its so fun once you get the hang of drifting through corners.

I definitely enjoyed it, however I'll probably end up getting a sled for 24/25 rather than another fat bike but we'll see. I'm spoiled because I have year-round riding 45-1hour away in Buena Vista and Salida.

Man I miss ark valley biking. Spent a couple summers in BV and would ride 4-5 nights a week. Now I ride like 4-5 times a year at best.

One thing that you should keep in mind is that people don't actually care to read a long and detailed ad's. I have made multiple ads where I dive into all the details and I get no hits, repost with less stuff and people bite.

I have exactly the opposite opinion. If I'm seriously considering buying something used from an online forum like Pinkbike or NS you better include as much detail as possible, or I'm going to assume it's stolen or a scam. It's wild how many times I've tried to open up a conversation with the seller and they can't tell me the first thing about their bike.

Gato, you could probably pull a few components out of that list if you wanted to shorten it, like head tube diameter and spokes, but otherwise if I were looking at your bike I'd appreciate the detail. Tough time to be selling a bike, I think the price is fair but it's brutal out there

I completely agree. Unfortunately It seems to be a theme. Happened to me and others I know, also the market is fucked. could have gotten 3.5 easy off my last bike and had to let it go for 2.2

Forbidden’s black friday deal and lifetime warranty was just too good to pass up. Swapped on a 240mm dropper, 50mm rise bars, and a high rise stem for a better fit with my long legs. Still getting used to it, this is arguably the polar opposite bike to my Clash. Very long chainstays, so hops/jibs/manuals will need some recalibration, but damn it’s pretty nice to feel perfectly centered through corners. Found the limits of the 150ish travel once or twice on it so far, so I’ll be looking into a cascade link and possibly a marzocchi bomber coil shock if I can confirm fitment. Love it on my other rig so hopefully I’ll like it here. Thing gobbles rocks with ease so hopefully it’ll be a perfect match for Shoe laps.
