I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

The hardtail simplicity is awesome. Spent an hour setting up the fork controls and it rips! 80 trail miles so far and it’s exceeded all expectations

Spare tube strapped to frame on XC bike: stupid af or looks alright, even good? It's pretty polarizing amongst my ride group, but I liked the extra accent color. Also took some bulk out of the Camelbak.

Just spent all weekend at our local TDS enduro race it was fuckin sick

Dudes getting drunk, dudes in trees, dudes crashing and just an all around good time.

also mick hannah showed up to race the ebike category and he smoked everyone by like 30 seconds so that was a humbling experience.

No.QuarterYup, Helenduro, on the last Saturday in June, when I'm typically just starting to get into good riding shape. Most likely will be heading out there for at least a day trip in the next several weeks weather depending, a few friends went out there a couple weeks ago during some chance warm spring days. Really hoping that my schedule will allow for me to take that Thursday and Friday before race day off of work, but if not it's probably totally feasible for me to just do a day trip or head out after work the night before. Worst case scenario I just ride it blind and hope that I can pace off of someone who knows the trails a little better. It's my first race and I'm really just going out for a fun challenge, I'm not all that competitive of a person.

After that little warm weather pattern I was all stoked to start getting out and putting a tool in some dirt this past week but then Bozeman got hit with a cold front and some snow, but it looks like we might be getting a little warmer temps and rain this week, hoping I'm able to start scouting out trails. Got some word on the plans for the Leverich rehab slated for this summer, the USFS approved for the downhill to get a bunch of machine work and some trail armoring with pavers on some of the sections that get the most haggard with braking bumps, as well as a complete re-direct of the climb so that there is no lollipop at the start and is truly one-way for the entire length of the downhill. Really hoping the latter solves some of the user conflict issues. Not supposed to happen until later in the season, but in the meantime this spring I'm planning on doing some solo work on the mini-downhill that is halfway up the climb. I'm really hoping that all of the machine work doesn't dumb down the trail too much, and I know the SWMMBA trails manager doesn't want that either but there really isn't much room to make it more difficult when it's the kind of trail where most of it's difficulty is due to it being so highly trafficked and just getting haggard. There's really a small percentage of the trail that has much potential to add difficulty, especially with the constraint of any added features needing to be "natural" (not jumps).

So if anyone near Bozeman wants to help out with a pretty big project this summer, keep your eyes peeled on SWMMBA's calendar for upcoming group dig days.

Friendly reminder to take the time to set your suspension up. Yeah it can be a pain when you want to just ride but man having the bike feel how you want it to is a game changer

Really miss when I was living closer to campus, now if I wanna go hit some silly urban stuff I either gotta ride 5 miles on a path along a busy road or drive to downtown.

Really grateful for all the precip we've been getting here, went out for a scouting mission on Sunday and was met with quite a bit of snow still, felt kinda dumb for lugging around my trail tool because the section of trail I was planning on working on ended up (unsurprisingly) still buried in snow, so I just hiked back down and kicked rocks and removed branches and did a little bit of raking on the climbing trail.

stupid rant but i do wish i lived in/closer to the city sometimes for some urban on both skies and bikes and didnt have to drive 40 mins for anything but road biking

Also rant cause I’m getting pushed out of the city/close to my campus to fucking suburbia hell.

My commute to work now is a slight incline road with nice medians with a slope to boost off of. Now I’m moving somewhere else in town that’s too far to even bike reasonably

I'm also living in suburbia hellscape, on the west side of town just south of the regional park, and its about a 5 mile commute on fucking Durston to get to work which fucking sucks when it's hot or windy at all, and too dangerous to attempt in the winter when there is a snowbank blocking the bike lane. I keep reminding myself that at least it's not as bad as the suburbia hellscape near Denver that I grew up in, but it's still pretty fucking depressing, especially considering my last apartment was literally right next to Peets hill. But to even consider trying to find an apartment closer to campus/downtown is a nightmare and I'd probably (definitely) have a rent increase, not to even mention finding something with a garage or cat friendly.

Yo! I lived on 8th about a block from Cooper park for 3 years and used to go on street rides around there all the time. I would come home from campus and then ditch my backpack and just continue to ride around. There were some fun lil berms and such on Olive and Babcock that I used to play around on all the time, and I would always see how long I could hold a wheelie coming down 8th. I miss that area so fucking much.

Yesterday I was out digging at the pump track kinda by my house after school, I tested the jump I built and slammed hard but seemed fine. I packed up and rode home. After I got home I logged onto shredsauce on my phone, after about 5 minuets of playing I felt a really sharp pane in my pinky. I looked down and it turned out when I wrecked, the knuckle of my pinky dislocated and got stuck underneath my ring finger's knuckle.

Stfu. I walked up some trails today and it was a foot of hard pack snow. It has yet to rain here. Frisco bike park looks dry though. Just needs some TLC!!

im injured and out until july anyway so its best i cant ride any . . . lol??

LOL you're having trouble finishing a trail and you're asking about which features you should add which will drastically increase the build time? Kid, you don't need "inspiration", you need a fucking work ethic. Also the gapers responding are hilarious. "DO A FISH BOWL!" "DO BIG DROPS!" hahahaha

No more than 5% grade, switchbacks, wide, bench cut, safe, flow, drainage, sustainability, nothing difficult or dangerous. Safe. Think of the children.
