I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

BiffbarfAre any anglesets worth a shit or do they all suck


The Cane Creek one is known for being creaky but that claim could be BS regurgitated by people who have never used one, I have heard great things about Works Components and Wolftooth. The main issue with the Cane Creek is the additional interface that the conical cups introduces to the headset assembly, The WC and Wolftooth rely on a fixed angle designed for a specific headtube length which eliminates the additional interface but stresses the importance of installation precision. I've been trying to get my hands on a Wolftooth to put a suspension fork on my fatbike for the summer but they have been out of stock for a while and every time they are in stock they end up gone before an order can be placed.
As far as if they are actually worth it that depends on if you think you would notice a difference of 1-2 degrees slacker. I bumped up my fork travel by 10mm which slackened things out a lil bit and the difference was extremely minor.

Good insight, thanks. I have 2 bikes now, one with a 65 degree hta and one with a 67 degree hta and I much prefer the slacker bike. There doesn't seem like much drawback and my confidence in things like steep chunky switchbacks increases a ton. I was thinking a +10mm fork as well as an angleset to try and get them similar.

I'm really sad you didn't quote me so I would get the satisfaction of a genuine skierman gaper callout.

When I ride like a dickhead (which is pretty much all the time) I just make the excuse that I've had a bit too strong of an edible and I'm way too high, but also that I would have totally cleaned that climb if only my Assegai/DHR II combo had a little more grip and I wish I had 2.6 tires instead of 2.5s and I wish they weren't so sluggish on the road back to town. Oh and I also own three different length air springs for my fork depending on the trail but I also don't know what the dials on the right side do so I just change them a bunch during the ride to get the best kinematics for each scenario that I encounter. Oh and I lube my chain every ride without cleaning it. And I bought a Commencal Meta because I watched all of the reviews and they said it's the best bike but I wish it wasn't so heavy, I'd be way faster if it wasn't so heavy. I'm gonna get the new Norco Shore next, I think it will really bring my riding to the next level since it's carbon.

My friend built up this same frame but he overforked it with a pike and mulleted it. thing was so sick! 10/10 would recommend

I think I’ve seen that build on Youtube. I’m running 29s f&r but I’m also gonna get a 27.5 rear setup for bike park days

Are mullets still sticking around? Pretty out of touch on trends these days, other than that hta’s over 66 degrees are unrideable

I think they're here to stay. I ride a status which is the cheapest good Enduro bike out there and it's so fun.

As with all mtb things, it’s personal preference. Just like how some people like 29s and some like 27.5, some like mullets and some don’t. I think they’re a blast. They can be faster sometimes. Sometimes they get out paced. I just ride for fun so I like em

rode yesterday after claiming once the resorts opened i would be done biking. Shoulda stuck to what i said lol. Snow on all the jump trails. Im not trying to drive to the front range to bike. Might hit the ol dirt jumps one last time as they get a ton of sun so they might still be open.

Hey man I love the attitude. As long as you got a bike with decent components and tolerable geometry you can have a good time and that’s what it’s all about

I’m around 5’7-5’8. I’ve had both a medium patrol and a medium scout before this, but the spire is a big bike, and sizing down was definitely the right call. The medium feels pretty big.

So I’m going out to some trails tomorrow and going to try to film and make a little edit. All self shot with an iphone and tripod. Any tips for shooting mtb? I have some ideas but i have never done this kinda thing before

Copper Harbor is pretty cool I've heard. Probably a lot in the UP. Down state is meh, theres some full loops but it can get sandy which really sucks. Lot of people ride fat bikes year round where I'm at.

Not me, but whenever I've gone to new places, like when my wife and I went to Seaside, Oregon for instance, I just hopped on youtube and typed in "Oregon Coast Downhill MTB" and a lot of stuff came up. Do something like that for the area of Michigan you're in and you'll probably find something helpful

Yo! So ive never had a bike with gears lol. Lookin to get an enduro to ride some single track around summit county and once or twice a year hit some lift access. My slope with 100 mm front and back get buck wild at Trestle lol.

so when buying a used bike is there any sort of check list of what to check for? I think i have a solid idea but would love the help. Thanks!

gonna look at my buddies Evil Wreckoning which I know hes rode hard as hes a shredder. Also gonna look at an Evil Offering that im under the impression a mom is selling now that her son is out of the house but idk.
