I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Ya, heard that. it's been brutally hot here too, and on top of that, the past few days have been too smokey to ride.

And even if it's just the lower section, it's still 17 miles of mostly downhill.
CLQNah, its been really hot, like hottest its ever been in history, and the full thing thing hasn't even opened yet. I've heard the bottom section off the mesa is the real deal though. I'm actually planning on doing the lower section next week so i'll let you know how it is

Skierman tore me apart for some similar complaints a little over a year ago, and I absolutely deserved it. Fundamentally you and the "trumpers" both just want to carve out a place to be yourself, and I'm sure there's a Karen who would lose it at both of you. Also maybe lessen the use of retarded as an insult.

Yup. Absolutely love the bike too, but my buzzed ass, and art affiliations are pulling me towards a mullet Patrol. I'm becoming one of those obnoxious "every other season new bike" flipper people.

Specialized uses then "S" sizing metric, so it's a S4 (roughly L). Would probably be in the $4500 ish range, although I'm not sure. Riding one more bike park weekend and then I'll put full specs up and give NS'ers first dibs if they want. Would like it to go to somebody who needs a bike.

Yeah i think his budget was more 3k Max, it’ll be his first full sus. And he wants a enduro so he can use it at the bike park and freeride lines. Sounds like a sweet deal tho hope it goes to a good home.

Dont think there will be anything in pc proper but drive 30min ish east through kamas up mirror lake highway once you get in national forest theres tons of dispersed spots. Some fun sketchy riding up that way too. Dm me if you want a pin or trail recs for the area !

Gonna be meeting up with my friends the first night and was able to snag a reservation at a site in BCC to prevent the struggle of trying to meet up at some unknown place. The rest of the weekend it looks like Mirror Lake Highway will be a good bet

Not gonna lie, I've visited that website more than literally any other site in my life. I check it first thing every morning, year-round. I don't always love everything they've done, and I don't always agree with what their takeaways are, but I read that site, a lot. I'm not stoked that they're hinting at it becoming a pay-to-read model, although I 100% understand the market pressure to do so. It does seem like it has the potential to give them the flexibility to sponsor more cool projects, but I guess we'll see.

Jason Blevins compared it to being bought by Vail on Twitter, and I don't think he's wrong.

This sucks. Especially on the Gaia/Trailforks integration front. I use Gaia a LOT, and it's been disheartening to see the changes they've already made, like making all tracks public.

I'm all for more inclusivity and less gatekeeping in mountain biking, but that's accomplished by building more beginner-friendly trails, supporting more diverse riders, and creating more beginner-friendly environments, not by mapping the ever-living shit out of everything.

Offset rims are the truth. Really should've taco'd the fuck out of my arc 30 offset recently but it held together somehow and haven't had to true it yet. Same price as stans/dt swiss and they hold up so much better it seems

Raceface rims and hubs are highly underrated, IMO. My Turbine rims and hubs have been indestructible, and the hub engagement is up there with the best of em.
BiffbarfOffset rims are the truth. Really should've taco'd the fuck out of my arc 30 offset recently but it held together somehow and haven't had to true it yet. Same price as stans/dt swiss and they hold up so much better it seems

First sram nx, then i had descendants too both 175. My bike already is pretty low already so 175s definitely don’t help.

Pretty much this past time I slid on a corner and my outside foot was dropped so I caught my pedal on a stump which damaged the threads of the cranks.

Not yet. Probably getting some in the next few weeks for my DJ bike. Idk if it's helpful, but their sales manager is trying to get me to buy the 150s and 155s for the shop, and he was raving about his own 155 cranks. But that's also his job...

What length have you been running? I used to get constant strikes in 170mm cranks, and since I switched to 165 it's been way better. Feels more natural too, but I'm short.

There some shit called smart weed. It takes over and is invasive but they call it smart weed because if you mow it, it comes back so low that the mower can’t get it but it’s still spreading roots and out competing other vegetation. Probably frowned upon to plant lol but it would hold the dirt pretty well

I just said the bike isn't gonna like it and there's a spot for a road gap, not I won't hit a road Gap on that bike. If I'm being honest the bike would prolly be fine, might not like it tho. I'm also prolly not skilled enough for a real road gap, maybe a small one or trail gap
