I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Ahhh, you meant chamois, not actual shorts. Most brands make good ones, but Garneau makes the best I've tried. Canari and Club Ride make some good ones too. Not a huge fan of my Pearl Izumi chamois.

As for shorts, as long as they're not cotton, it's all good and fuck anyone who says otherwise.

Bike shorts are like tech bindings. You think you're doing great without them, and then you try them for the first time and realize how much better they are and never go back. I don't even ride in a chamois, but I do always ride in good shorts.

Anyone have any experience with a convertible half-shell/full-face helmet? Looking at the Bell Super DH or Bell Super 3R. Mostly ride all-mountain/enduro, but I'll probably be in the bike park ~5 days this summer, and want to have the chin bar as an option for descents on some of the gnarlier trail rides. Would love to hear from someone who uses one--how hot are they in half shell mode? Should I just buy a DH helmet for bike park days, even though I don't go very much?

Giro makes a nice one can’t remember the name. The tyrant isn’t a full face but a rly nice 3/4. The smith mainline and fox proframe are supposed to be really nice breathable full faces

The GIRO switchblade is what I would suggest if you are looking for a sort of 2 in one full face/open face helmet. Plus the EWS version looks hella sick.

I just got one this winter and have couple rides with it so far. I've used it without the chinbar and it isn't too bad in terms of getting hot. Its pretty ventilated and open. I'm stoked to go ride the bike park this spring, fall, and summer.

Went out on trails for the first time last week on a GJ/Moab trip with my dad, felt so good to ride again and whip the new bike, I brought my skis with me just in case and sorry to say the riding was so good I didn't even think about skiing the whole trip.... cant wait till my local trails open
