I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Lol supply chain is still so fucked. I've been checking QBP every day for updates on estimated stock arrivals and on some items they just don't have estimated dates at all anymore.
Hopefully I'll be getting some parts for a couple of wheel builds soon, and I just got a rebuild kit and MegNeg upgrade for my rear shock.

CeleryThat's one sexy looking bike. Is it a custom build?


It’s a 2019 commencal supreme frame with fox factory suspension as opposed to the complete build which uses a rockshox boxxer and super deluxe coil. It’s also got shimano saints which I just put on instead of the codes it came with.

Have the new Rocky Mtn Instinct frame coming in a week or so. They updated it just like the altitude (you'll see the official release on Pinkbike on March 9th) so should be sick!!

I’ve had zero issues with my frame. I do feel like the durability concerns are a bit exaggerated ever since that proto frame cracked in the pinkbike review. All my friends who ride trek, Santa Cruz, etc have all had issues as well. If ya ride hard and crash hard, shit happens.

If your rocky dealer ordered them there’s a good chance they should be in stock on the launch date. Best bet is to call them quickly when the bike is released.

I’d recommend checking out the eastern states cup series, I’ve done some of their enduros and they always put on a very fun race, I’m sure the dh ones are just as good

Suspension and brakes are always the biggest priority for me. What type of terrain are you riding? What brakes do you use?

Do you actually need to upgrade or do you just want the fun of buying new parts?
I say upgrade when you break stuff, or if you are actually unhappy with the performance of something. I upgraded my shifter because Sram NX is kinda sloppy and then upgraded my derailleur when it got smashed. I upgraded my brakes from Level T to G2 RSC because I wanted the better and more adjustable lever, not because 2 piston brakes weren't powerful enough for me.
I'd almost always recommend having your current suspension serviced before dropping the cash on an entirely new fork or shock, as well as making sure that it is properly setup for your weight and riding style.

If your looking for a good clutch shifting system go with the microshift advent x Shimano and Sram are overrated and expensive

Y'all I need your help. I finally have the cash saved up from starting a real job after graduating college and am looking to buy a trail bike so I don't have to keep spending $45 each time I go riding (Rental fee for a Stumpjumper Comp)

I'm looking to spend $2300 - 2700

Looking for full suspension with decent specs so I don't have to replace parts right right off the bat

Trail bike (I live in Charlotte, NC so most trails are flat with some tech areas), size Medium, not beginner, but far from expert

YT Izzo comp. A little bit over budget, but it's at an amazing spec for the price, and YT customer service is unrivaled imho.

You are in a bit of a pickle because bike availability is still pretty uncertain. The used market is in high demand as well. I’d say wait it out a little bit for availability to improve and save up a little more money like maybe around 3k.
I don’t really know what the riding is like in NC but a bike with around 130mm of rear travel is kinda the sweet spot for most trails. I have a Commencal Meta TR 29 and it is a blast and very versatile. 130mm in the rear with a 150mm fork and nice progressive geometry, kinda heavy but it doesn’t matter all that much

I was in the same boat. With this budget Id definitely say go used. I just dropped 3000 and got a pretty nice bronson instead of a cheap new bike with low spec.

Bought the new YT Jeffsy Core 2 today which has 150mm of travel in the front and rear. Realistically, it is probably an unnecessary amount for NC trails, but I did not want to wait for the YT Izzo to release. Think I should be straight?

Depends on where you are in NC. 150 sounds pretty perfect for Pisgah.

Anybody on the newest guerilla gravity models? I'm considering one for my new rig. Think they look great, I really like the cable routing, and being made in the states is a plus. Don't know anyone who has ridden one though.

I like their manufacturing and sustainability practices and it's cool that Yoann Barelli rides GG now, but I cant say I agree with you on them looking great.
