Canon 7d worth it?

I want to upgrade from a t3i and a 7d seemed like a good option because i take a lot of action sport photography and the 8 pictures per second is pretty interesting. The only major drawback that I see is that the camera model itself is pretty old and they still use compact flash card which i know can be faster that sd card but cost way more. So for a 7d body that will cost me in the 700-750 range should i upgrade?

It would be pretty pointless imo, because the 7d has the same quality, for a higher price. You are pretty much just paying for the weather proofing. I know there are more differences, but im too lazy to look them up right now.

If you are wanting to upgrade, it would be much more worth it to save up a little more and buy a used/refurbished full frame body, like the 5d mark ii, or a 6d.

All sane logic and all of Media and Arts will tell you not to. I did this same thing and I would say it is one of the biggest contributing factors to my photography this season.

Yeah, that 8fps is great ad for me the better ergonomics and the metal body make it totally worth it.

framerate is kind of nice to have, but it isn;t essential by any means. and sure it will make your rebel feel like a toy, but the glass is far more important
I think it is far more beneficial to save and buy nice glass (that can be used on a full frame body). Nive glass will be great on your body and so much better when you get a full frame body, which will actually give you a difference in IQ, which rebel --> 7d will not (they have the same sensor)

I have the 7d and although the build quality is great and the faster frame rate is nice I honestly I wish I had gone for a cheaper body and used the extra money on glass instead. But if you really want the better build quality and higher frame rate maybe it would be worth it to you, but your photos probably won't improve much after upgrading.
