So this dude Alexander Wengshoel ate his own hip for an art project. After reading an interview on Vice I thought it was kinda cool. Some people think it counts as cannibalism, but when he said it was like a mother eating her own placenta after giving birth I agreed with him and didn't think of it in that way. Thoughts?

don't think he cut of his ear as art, he just did it cuz he was whacked.
He was actually punishing him for ruining his own vision some speculate.
Not saying any of this is justifiable. The guy is obviously off his meds. I just find it strange what people consider art now a days. I watched a documentary on a guy who paints grey paintings(Can't remember what it was called it was on Netflix last year. It was about Gerhard Richter I think. Basically all he does is put a bunch of colours on a canvas in odd patterns then paints over everything with layers of grey paint. The craziest part was how much people would pay for the guys paintings.
I took an art history class in college, it was all about finding patterns and meanings that werent even there.
