what is appropriate to get a police station that is cool and did you a favor?

I lost my wallet in vt this past weekend after a little too much day drinking at the peace pipe jam, and a really great vt resident found it and took it to the police station, and then a really chill cop there found me on facebook and made sure to get my wallet mailed to me asap.

generally i'd like to thank them with a case of beer but I'm not sure how that would be received at some police stations.. the boss could be a tightass for all i know

any ideas? especially if there are any windsor vt people around here, any ideas for a nice substitute thank you gift?
