Can we talk about misogyny and male entitlement?

It's nothing new, but the UCSB killings have unsurprisingly generated a fair amount of press.
If you're not really clear on what that is, let me know, and I'd be glad to provide you with some articles on the subject.
I've been pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised by NS in relation to LGBTQ issues (Brock's thread was the latter), so we'll see what happens with gender ones. What are everybody's thoughts?

I'll start by saying that I'm entitled, and both constantly and consciously aware of it. Changing is a long process that is far from over for me.

Well you're gonna be waiting then. Look at mammals in general, the female is just more apt to take care of her child while the male tries to provide. Same thing for humans, except we have emotions and feelings that jumble everything up into a clusterfuck.

You're right, but you aren't considering that they're just trying to survive as a species. They don't have machines, and it's more that the males are better equipped for acting as hunter/gatherers and providing sustenance, something that doesn't exist in Western society.

Well I mean he also probably spent a good portion of that money on crack so maybe he could have paid it. He was a pretty successful rapper and a mediocre actor but was in some sorta big movies.

New study in...women have vaginas and tits and men do not. In a study where babies where given to men and women and told to keep them alive, sucking on the man's nipple was not enough to keep the child alive...they all died in the name if science.

What makes a mother worth any less than a man that has a job and a wage? A mother is a VITAL part to a household, and so is a husband with a job. The illusion that a mother's job is worth any less than the husbands is a joke. Setting currency aside, obviously.

Also, did you know 40 of domestic abuse is suffered by men in the UK?
I forgot the video name, but while a women being abused is a serious problem in public, a man being abused in public was treated as a joke and was laughed at.

But also, people get so fucking soft these days. Any 15 year old white girl with access to the internet thinks they are a social justice worker saying "omg wouldnt it b liek so great to have a gay president?!?!?"
You perpetrate the idea that that person is different because they are gay. The only thing different is there attraction for the same sex.

I'm actually arguing that being a mother is worth just as much as having a job and a wage if not more. I'm also arguing that at the center of it being devalued is the fact that women suffer economically and have less power in or out of marriage than men do. A women who makes the home her primary occupation is at financial and cultural whim of her spouse with an income. What if the man is a tyrant or abusive? What if the man lords the fact that he is her sole benefactor over her?

I'm arguing that it's unfair that a man with a family actually does better in a professional career than a single man (because of unpaid domestic labor and support provided by his spouse) and the exact opposite is true of women. I'm all for women being valued for their domestic labor and child-rearing skills but the truth is that these are both culturally and economically undervalued in our society.

As someone whose goal in life is to be a stay at home dad/trophy husband, I'm all for the argument that men can be just as good parents as women. Sure, I don't have mammary glands, but, luckily, with a little bit of money I can just go to a store and buy baby formula, which kind of solves that problem.

Obviously, biologically, men are designed to have sex with as many women as possible and have as many offspring as possible and not give a shit about any of them, while women are designed to have just a few children and care for them for many years, but considering we, as a species, have overcome biology before (e.g. condoms, marriage), I don't see why we can't do it again when it comes to parenting.

This actually may not be entirely true in the case of us and some of our primate ancestors. Robert Sapolsky suggests that in a lot of primate species the beta males (caring, compassionate, less violent etc.) tend to be more attractive breeding partners for females because of their clear advantage in being able to care for their young. Also alpha males typically meet bloody and premature ends (there's always the other alpha's out there who want to fuck your day up) and therefore are less likely to be around for longer than your middle-of-pack beta. Theres good reason to extrapolate this data to human behavior. Generally speaking being an alpha isn't necessarily the best evolutionary advantage.

So Ive read through this thread and I'm just gonna toss in my two cents.

Is it so bad to have gender rolls? if we view women as equal, but realizing they are extremely different then men, and give them different tasks that better fit their biological differences (comparing them to men) I don't see why that idea in itself is wrong. Ive seen people want studies to support their claims and I have one that i just found on google so i guess i can't attest to its validity but these are all over.

Now I believe that this works because of gender rolls that have been in place for quite some time. it is a proven system, not flawless by any means, but it works.

This would be good news if I wasn't so clearly an Alpha. Damn. Guess my fate is be killed off in battle, not spend my days growing old at home with the kids while my wife works herself to an early grave :(
