2001 ford escape.

Does anyone here own one? I found one with 50k miles at the dealer because an old couple owned it. Are the transmissions actually piles of shit or are they alright. I don't want to buy a money pit.

if you dont want to buy a money pit, id stay away from the escape. yes the transmissions are known to be terrible, but that be the least of my worries considering the insane amount of recalls listed on that vehicle. good luck budy, one question tho... why are you considering the escape in the first place ?

i have a 2005. its a great car for what i need it for, and i have never had any major issues. ive had it for about 4 years now and have put around 40k miles on it, and its still going strong

Idk I just came across it and saw how low mileage it had. If I could I would get a truck but I really don't have the money to pay for gas.

I had a 2001 Mazda Tribute and apparently they're pretty much the same car. I was able to drive it until around 260 000 km, but it was my dad's before he gave it to me and when he had it he had a bunch of problems with it

Here's my sexy ass beast. 2001. The front wheel drive completely sucks balls, but my 4WD is completely shot so I guess that doesn't help either. I wouldn't buy it. My A/C doesn't work anymore, no more 4WD, had to get a ton of work done on the transmission and the fuel injector, and I'm only at 93K miles.

i've got a buddy with one that he has driven from NY to Utah and back a few times, and it has held up fine. his is a mid 2000s model
