Big tricks if you're competing but style definitely helps. In edits more style makes it more fun to watch and makes the skier stand out. Big tricks are fun to watch too. Id put slightly more emphasis on big tricks. Probably like 60 percent tricks - 40 percent style.

i'd rather watch someone shred the whole park with a good style than watch someone do 10 different variations of switch ups and land sketch on all of them.

Awesome tricks n crappy style because we've all been in that stage with having some style but crap tricks and it doesn't feel great.. whereas having good tricks comes with the feeling of accomplishment so Its much more worthwhile to know our shit.

Like goepper to dadali. Nick is a fucking robot but throws hammers. I think ahmet has phenomenonal style and a pretty decent bag of tricks. And I prefer to watch ahmets edits much more.

Exactly. Trick selection does matter. Not all tricks work within certain aesthetic/stylistic contexts. The tricks you decide to do help shape how your style is perceived.

Why are these two downvoted? one man's opinion. not an inherently fucked opinion either.

I'm also interested in the spectrum here, as it seems that the middle ground is being discussed, and by my reckoning, I bet more NS'ers are in the middle of the spectrum than on either end --- more of us can throw seven's than 1800's or 5 foot 180's.

Style is awesome. of course it is. Huge JOI type tricks are awesome, of course they are.

and of course there is a mix. Jossi's triple for example. hot damn, stylish and crazy, try to say its not both

I feel like this argument is just unlikely. Good style happens when your actually a comfortable with tricks. Its not like you would have good style but could barely back two. Doing big tricks is definitely nice to watch but if you look terrible doing it style matters more than tricks. Like I would rather watch a back surface than a hopping around a double swap that looked shitty. (BACKSURFACES ALWAYS LOOK GOOD IF YOU LAND). As I got into park it was about 4 years ago aka muddy winter came out. This changed my approach to learning because I thought about if I looked good(I didn't). But now I feel like my style is better than my tricks for sure. YOU CAN"T HAVE A GOOD STYLE AND DO NOTHING, but I would say style

Style of course. Let's compare Nick Goepper and Phil Casabon. Yeah, Nick throws absolutely insane tricks and lands perfectly, but would you rather watch a segment put out by Nick or Phil? I personally would get bored watching Nick doing essentially the same stuff over and over again, but Phil keeps me interested because everything is extremely different and unique.

This basically is "Phil Casabon or Nick Goepper"

Both are not what I like.

Take someone like Torin Yater-Wallace... he has both of it, in every aspect of skiing. That's that shit I do like.
