Neutral shootout is always fun.

It's like the THX sound, it always catches me by surprise at a volume level that rises well above and beyond what my speakers are normally capable off.

fujaromeWhat are the odds arsenal does like they have recent years today? Perform well, score a few goals, almost score the winner....then go out on away goals. They have the ability to beat most teams in the competition, but only once. Not over two legs. Oh well...


Damn called it to a T hahaha. At least now they can concentrate their efforts elsewhere, always a good thing of getting knocked out CL I suppose.

Everyone always says that and I don't think it's always true.

Like tomorrow when we go out I guarantee people are going to say that, but in reality if we did beat them then we'd probably get a boost in the PL, like after we beat bayern.

Messi is just too good. The finish to score wasn't half bad either. Messi's assist was nice but the job was far from over.

I think juventus are slowly becoming a force again, but for whatever reason no one seems to be noticing.

Dortmund played like absolute shit, Juve played great. Bummed because I was pulling for Dortmund because Chelsea was knocked out.

I can't wait for those matches. Unfortunately, aside from psg-Barcelona I don't think any of them will be as good as they look on paper.

Bayern will probably smash porto. Juventus-Monaco has potential, but I think juve will make it through no problem. And it could definitely be an amazing match, and it'll be fierce no matter what, but I don't think athletico has it in them to beat real over two legs.

I'm hoping PSG, Monaco, juve, and bayern go through though. I want psg to win it at all just because I think French football needs some representation.

Kinda wanted to see some different match ups since these are similar to last years but should be exciting nonetheless. I think people are underestimating porto as well, they have a brilliant attack. Bayern will probably go through though, Barca, Atletico and Juve willl also go.

I thought it was pretty clear that Juventus have become a force again in the last year or two?

fujaromend it could definitely be an amazing match, and it'll be fierce no matter what, but I don't think athletico has it in them to beat real over two legs.


I dunno, Atletico seem to have Real's number recently, and Real haven't exactly been in great form the last couple of months. I think it's a tough one to call, and wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.

In their last 6 games, Barca has won just once against PSG, at home PSG is invincible, one loss in the last two years in the league and unbeaten in Europe at home since 2006. So I predict two ties.

I do have to commend you for not using the dollar sign in PSG's abbreviation, keep that good behaviour going.

damn Steven Gerrard, wtf was he thinking. He probably doesn't like being a bit part player like he is now, but someone so experienced should know better. Last year he arguably gave away their title chances with the slip pass to Ba, and now maybe the CL spot.

Yeah, wasn't the best Clasico ever. Too much stop and go for much of the second half when the game fell apart a bit with all the fouling. What substitutions did you find odd? They all seemed pretty straight forward to me, except maybe the Lucas Silva one.

rafinno was odd for me as well, and the order in which he brought them on. busquets and xavi are obvious, same with verane for a hot head pepe. luca silva definitely puzzled me, not so much taking modric off but why luca? just an odd game for me. neither team really looked like they wanted to win. barca played well in the second but was terrible in front of goal. same with real in the first half.

Rafinha wasn't an odd sub at all. I think he was the only midfielder left on the bench and certainly the best, and you wouldn't bring on Pedro for Iniesta with a few minutes left and a goal up on Madrid.

It was sort of an odd game. Just glad Barca won.

Except Barca, especially Messi, are in incredible form, and if I'm correct, Zlatan and Veratti are suspended for the first game so I'd say it's pretty much Barca's.

Fucking Slippy G last year now Stompy G this year dude might have cost them top 4 with that move he can't help ruining their aspirations. Also a brilliant goal from Mata contender for goal of the season. Knowing the English media they will have nothing bad to say about Skrtel's or Stevie G's stomps but try to make excuses for them compared to the "Costa crimes" from earlier this season and Skrtel will escape retroactive punishment.

Pretty sloppy Clasico today, Mascherano's diving was a joke.

In september, the French side beat the Catalans 3-2 at home in the group stages without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was injured back then.
Despite Barca's form, i'd say it's anyone's game and it will probably come down to a tie, both ways.

PSG only beat Chelsea on away goals, and that was one of our worst performances of the season (and probably worst CL performance in years).

Your point about September is pretty irrelevant because form does matter. Btw Barca didn't have Suarez in September who is superior to Zlatan.

I have no insight in Blanc's tactics, Marquinhos is pretty comfortabel as a right back, he played that way in Roma quite frequently as well. Or they could go for van der Wiel if they want some attacking prowess, but I'll doubt it since having him on is more like an extra winger. He does have the speed though.

Motta is actually more instrumental to PSG's play, Veratti presses forward but does it al under Motta's lead, who's just a solid consistent rock, never making mistakes. A Pirlo without the panache and mystery, he's quite underrated really.

Still all speculation really, as much as the Cavani/Di Maria swap, I could actually see that happen, Cavani has been good at PSG but not stellar.

Why is it every stream I watch of Barca is the commentators arse licking Messi? Don't get me wrong he's a great player, arguably the best right now, but there are also 21 other players on the pitch that I could hear about too.
And that Clasico was a bit dull, although it kind of changed my perception of Suarez (never really liked him after the biting incidents).

Suarez is a genuine bloke, i've met him multiple times when he was at Ajax, due to arrangements I dare to not speak off but do mention for the cred. A bit of an idiot in the sense that he wants to win at all costs and loses all inhibitions, great player, friendly guy.

The Messi dick riding is hilarious, yes he is fantastic but there's no reason to constantly wank over every move.
A while ago during a Barca game he made an off pass, it happens, no one is perfect and the commentator went: "Oh that brilliance, he operates on another level, his teammates can't even comprehend his vision, if only Neymar could've interpreted that staggering move!" I watch Barca games on mute now.

like i said Barca too strong for PSG. sure they were missing 3-4 key players but w/e. for me it looked like barca didn't even really get out of first gear. there's still another match to play but losing 3-1 at home is pretty damning.

didn't see the other match but great result for porto. would love them to go through but if there's one team capable of overturning that scorline it's Bayern.

Some big fuck ups by Dante, Boateng and Neuer on the goals, and no spark in attack other than Thiago. I really hope Porto can pull it off, but it will be tough to defend the scoreline without Danilo and Alex Sandro in the next leg, they have some wonderful fullbacks. Bayern have too many key players missing. Especially Alaba, Robben and Ribery.

Like I said, Barca were too strong for PSG, Suarez was too fucking good. David Luiz should not have come back from injury so early. Yeah, they were missing some players, but Barca are the strongest team in the world right now. They should be able to hold on to the lead at home comfortably.
