ramp with a run in just finished grading the spot flat today marking the corners and putting a drain in. need to do some trig work to figure out the length and ramp size. but thats one of the last things to build so in time

ya i was thinking like a JP street style edit would be dope but it takes away time from the main goal that is the pit and ramp and trap. making a 30x20 pit while having to wash each and every block by hand and all the things involved is more then you think but i can throw up some pics your way and maybe a video soon.
ok so here is the skis right after i made the cuts so you guys kinda get a better idea of what i did, ill get into depth in the video to come soon.
and here is 2 days worth of washing the free blocks i got while they are drying , apparently they where laying on the dirt for awhile because allot of them had roots growing in them, this is also only 5% of the blocks..
and here is the area i graded to put the pit, its in a vally so i have a hill on both sides for a run in for the ramp, i also am putting in a drain for a just incase any water does make it into and under my pit it will keep standing water out and mold as well. and if you look close you can see where i marked the pits outline. I'm now gathering the wood to make it as I'm building above ground and putting dirt around it to avoid lots of deferent problems i would of had if i put it 8ft below ground. updates to come soon

*DUMBCAN*It depends on whether your design infringes on the patent or not.
If you sell a kit to make it you're effectively selling the product. Same thing if you're distributing the design.
However, since you're skis are adaptations of real skis and woodwards are a completely new product, plus all other patents that describe adaptations to skis revolve around attaching wheels to the side of skis, you may not be infringing any patents. I don't know.
Patent law is one of if not the most tricky and confusing types of law there is.
To get a patent, there can't be an adaptation of another product. You can't just take another product and add something to it to make it patentable. The idea has to be completely novel, and non obvious.
Attaching a wheel to the outside, verse inside...ect is really not too important, and really has no bearing on whether or not is is considered patent infringement.
A judge would look at the idea/patent and say you used a very similar design but moved the wheels to a different location, or used a different material. Those are not novel improvements.
If your just doing this for your own pleasure there really is no issue.
Now if you post your plans online, and someone builds a kit or something, there might be some issues there.

i know its why I'm hesitant to post a step by step with a list of parts I'm not trying to get sued when most people don't have the tools needed to make these in the first place. i would love for a few people to confirm I'm not going to jail if i do put up a video with proof to back them up.
I wouldn't worry about posting a whole made summer dry land ski plans.
Unless your planning to charge, then if another person tries to do it and sell it its their problem when they get called out and not yours.
Nothing should fall back on you unless your trying to make money off of this...which you shouldn't
The big thing here is this is not an original idea, not saying its not creative or cool, but its not a new idea that has not been done in some way shape or form.
Just have fun with what you built, I'm sure your prototype will need R & D anyways to really hone them in.
on todays update of the build i have located the pallets i need to build the pit walls, yes I'm using pallets because they are free and... thats basically it i would love to frame up the walls legit house style but thats cash$$ so ill need 60 pallets give or take a few and i have set up a time to pick them up on friday from a local milk distribution company.
and also i now plan to move my summer set up down next to the pit and also redirect 1 of my zip lines into the pit as well. if you look closely you can see it behind the barn to the left. I'm also looking for 13 more 10 foot 4x4s hopefully i can find some more because they are very pricy, also got the tarp I'm going to use for the cover yesterday, that will be stretched over a roof steel structor that will be on tracks so it can be rolled off and then rolled back over the pit and locked down, other then that its pretty much it until friday. I'm also excepting donations to thisisabigfuckingjob fund. i don't fuck around

i wish i still lived there, but i had to move back to my hometown about 5 months ago to help out my friend after his dad passed away, so all this is actually in asheville NC not many skiers around these parts.
ok so update on today, i went to pick up the 60 pallets the company was going to set aside for me, and i get there and there was only 13 of them , and they where mostly torn up, so I'm not sure about what I'm going to do about that but ill figure it out. also decided I'm going to tear down my climbing wall i made when i was a kid to use the wood to make a platform around the pit so when you get out you not just on dirt. but thats all for today. I'm making that how to video soon. and pics because why not, sorry for the side ways shit

Ive been thinking, and when you say to have the front and rear wheel brackets match the sidecut of the ski, that means the wheels wouldn't be straight, and wouldn't really be able to roll straight without skidding or pulling to both sides and being really slow. OP, or anyone else know about this? would it be as drastic as Im imagining, a non-issue, or what?

AlecDaviesskiAnother idea, why not one roller blade wheel in the front and back and the skateboard wheels where they are now?
Not exactly the front and rear wheels don't have much weight on them and they would provide some friction but it's just like a bad alignment on your car you will not notice the speed change because there wouldn't be much of one at all. And for the single wheel idea I had the same thought but when you turn your edges would hit the ground and slide out and eat shit. It's still possible to do this with my design but it's kinda hard. The skate board wheels being smaller then the roller blade wheels cause the ski to have a kinda reverse camber thus there being not much weight on the front and rear wheels. I'm writing this half asleep so if I'm all over the place my b. but trust me it works

Idk whether i shoudl keep putting these in the thread or PM you, so i thought id just PM. how do you prevent the skateboard wheel from rubbing against the metal bracket? or does that not matter cause the skate wheels are just for support

this is one thing i forgot to put in there thanks for bringing it up, so i had the same issue. i used another set of inserts from a rollerblade, the inserts where slightly larger then the skateboard bearing and they where plastic so the fit in but i had to force them in. i left them sticking out just enough so they wouldn't hit the actual wheel only the inserts on the brackets. another option i did on one of the wheels is use small washers on each side small enough to just touch the bearing and not the rubber of the wheel. stack enough on there so it won't run into the side, or about 3 washers past flush with the wheel. now this could defiantly be a spot to improve on. but for what it is, it worked for me.

also i didn't tell you what i used to put the whole in the ski. i used a rotozip and a grinder to cut the edges. because you don't wanna hit the edges with a rotozip. also used a metal chop saw, pretty much a big grinder. and a electric hacksaw. you will figure it out which one you use when. be aware if you are using skis with metal inside of them. just be smart about it. and don't use a root zip. if your desperate drill connecting holes all the way around the spot your trying to cut, and sand it down straight and smooth.
