Source? I've seen some maps, the pcmr/pwdr land ends like half way up first time, then there is a second of another land onwer (very small) then talisker comes in way before the top of payday/crescent.

Nope, PCMR owns everything up to the top of Payday and over. Everything beyond the crest of that hill is Talisker land, aka the lost world.

Eheath is right and would either side honestly end up splitting along these lines? I can not possibly imagine a season actually happening with rinky dink Powdr resort operating directly under some contraption that gets vail passes to the top of the resort without using Powdr owned space. (Town lift?) Somethings gotta give.

1. PCMR/Powdr owns the base and the whole frontside of PCMR. Vail/Talisker can not operate PCMR until Powdr sells this part of the resort to Talisker, which they will never do.

2. This ruling is basically an official statement of "PCMR/Powdr corp failed to renew their lease 3 years ago" PCMR/Powdr has been fighting with Vail/Talisker of the validity of the lease, if the renewal was missed or not and other factors. This new ruling doesn't say Vail/Talisker owns pcmr or runs pcmr.

3. This is a media frenzy, nothing is actually going to happen anytime soon. Now its another year or two of pcmr/powdr and talisker/vail negotiating a new lease/a purchase/a whatever to settle everything. Nothing is going to happen to PCMR. Most of these news articles you will read have false information and other things to rile up the public, please ignore it. Unofficials article has been the best so far IMO:

Shits getting real over here at the courthouse.

Sounds like talisker is going to lease the land to pcmr for the 14/15 season IF they can agree on an amount. The judge will decide this amount and its likely it will be around 10-11 mil (market value) while talisker keeps arguing about damages and lost profits from the previous years which really doesnt matter right now, thats a different issue. Luckily, the judge seems to understand that and will hopefully just propose a legit bond amount and we can move on until next summer.. haha

I see this going all the way through next summer as well. Apparently either side had a difference of opinion in regards to how much the land was worth. According to the judge, the difference was over $100 million between the two. Ha!

HA! The only difference is either one group of rich people own the mountain or another group of rich people own it. There will be plenty of shitty seasonal jobs and everyone will be able to ski their favorite Park City Resort... unless POWDR Corp holds their mistake up for ransom again.

Vail wants to turn PCMR/Canyons into a mega resort, but even that doesn't really matter because One Wasatch aims to do that and more regardless.

1st world problems.

@pussyfooter - I tend to agree with your stance throughout this thread, with one big exception. You act as if this is poor pcmr being picked on by big-bad company X (Talisker in this case). Please do not forget that pcmr was the group who didn't sign the lease renewal on time and then forged documents to make it look like they had done so. In my book, that's just plain idiotic. Nevermind the fact that pcmr was leasing the property owned by Talisker for pennies on the dollar ($155,000/year if you didn't already know). What was pcmr doing with all of that money they were not spending on what the property should have been worth? Passing it on to the locals I'm sure!! Except, nope - they weren't doing that either. Pcmr is just as expensive as every other resort in the Wasatch, but they were leasing their land for a fraction of what it's worth. I do not like Talisker, but at least they were honoring the 50 year lease agreement, even though the money was crap. And now they have the opportunity to get fair market value (established by the courts) for the land and pcmr is throwing a fit. It's not a good look at all. But by all means - ignorance is bliss.

I mean, I'm not ignorant, I understand. The whole thing that pisses me off is that they even tried to evict them in the first place. Its more than just pcmr, its the entire town.

Anyways, i'd bet $100 that talisker buys pcmr from powdr corp by april 2015.

This indeed blows for the town of park city. A Vail takeover is not what I think is a good idea. But every PC resident I speak with blames Tallisker/Vail, and that's complete horseshit. Pcmr effed-up big time. And now it would appear that they will pay dearly for that mistake, in the terms of a new lease agreement worth more like $5-18 million a year. Or they will sell their stake in the mountain and go put all their efforts into Snowbird (which they recently purchased a majority stake in).
