I love his work. He was a very wise man with some very valid ideas. Unfortunately, many of them are not feasible for anyone but a minority of privileged individuals (such as himself). It's pretty easy to be idealistic when you're the king of trustafarians, isn't it?
True. That can be said of all ideological thinkers. There is no perfect system and utopia can never exist. As the human is the building block of society, and since the human is imperfect, society will always fail to be perfect.
Collective responsibility is an interesting concept and is one I struggle constantly with in thought. I do no wish to be "imprisoned" by others who willingly walk into "imprisonment." Democracy does not solve the problem, as it places the collective in control. Freedom is living without hindrance, and the biggest hindrance to man is other men.
