Need an all mountain/pow ski

at jay peak Vermont and advanced, 5'11, 150 lb. I ski alot of tight trees, powder, moguls, and groomers, and just like to have fun. I need a one ski quiver that will allow be grip on hardpack, and the ability to make quick turns in the trees and moguls. I like to go off alot of natural feature s but not much park.I want something i can quickly turn on a dime in tight situations to slow down. Probably less than half of my days are pow days but we do get alot of snow at jay. My 2 main options are the 186 4 front Cody or the atomic blog in a 185 I want maximum quickness and turning on a dime for east coast glades, stability in ggroomers, great flotation and can handle skmemoguls. I want sokething light but fast for groomers and run outs back to the lift

I am 6 ft and 15th lbs and growing
I am advanced
I don't spend much in the park hut want some going good for landings off of small cliffs rocks and bumps

haven't skied the Cody but I love my blogs. I actually own two pairs haha one with dukes and one with griffons. they are defiantly light and responsive. They are my go to skis outside the park. pm if you have any questions about them

JJ might be good for you, I believe they have a shorter turn radius than other similar skis so they should be better in bumps and trees. They're also big enough for pow and cliffs. They'll do alright on groomers but not great, and they'll probably be bad on ice, but good on pretty much everything except ice. I assume you already have a pair of skis; assuming they're more on-piste oriented, just keep them for when the conditions suck.

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm already narrowed down to these two skis and I guess the shreditors could be an option but aren't they noodles

looking for the same type of ski but maybe a bit more hardpack/ shitfuck snow oriented since massachusetts trees are a bit sketchier than jay, though i go to jay for a week every year also. ive been thinking prophet 100, shreditor 102, line influence 105, candide 3.0, volkl gotama, etc. something low to mid 100s, tight turn radius, twin tip, medium flex

Blizzard Peacemaker is literally the ideal ski for Jay Peak. Fun, playful, quick turning, 104 waist, twin rocker, camber, everything just falls into place. I recommend this ski a lot because it really is that good.

bacons are ridiculously soft dude, i would love them as a park ski but if you want to ski groomers or hard snow or ski hard in pow theyre gonna be rough. not sure how they compare to the blogs

I honestly don't know much about the blogs but the SFB's are great all mountain. They can float through pow and grip and rip groomers. They are also really soft which is awesome.

For what you have described, I'd rather jam my dick in a wood chipper than ski something other than my 185 Worth Magics. There isn't a ski in the world I'd rather have at Jay.


They are specifically made for steep trees, cliffs and being not only super quick edge to edge but also handling high speeds really well. You also get to choose your core, layup, stiffness and topsheets if you want so you can really dial it in for your exact needs.


Honestly they cost around the same as a regular retail ski but you get a ton more for your money with a ski like the Magic. In any case, happy shopping. Plenty of great options out there these days!

You could go either way by your size and weight. Just depends what you prefer: better tree performance and easily manageable, or a ski that pushes back a little, is more stable, floats much better, but takes more effort in the trees.

Go blogs! 4frnt makes a ski but the Cody won't be as good as an all mtn/pow ski as the blog. Blog is one of the best all mtn ski in my opinion

185, Sorry I came across as short earlier. Just get the blogs in 185, their a great ski and you won't regret it, I feel like you are just having a hard time being decisive though, Do you personally just like the 4frtns better?

No I was just worried because skis.com recommended I ski that was 169-179 for me so I don't want the ski to be too long

Maybe it's just me, but I think a 184/185 ski is mighty big for a 150 lb. skier. I would think you'd want somewhere in the low 170s...

I was only 160ish the first year I was on the blog and the 185 was fine, could have actually been longer

Yeah the rocker makes it ski short because of the rocker, that's why people are pushing you towards bigger sizes.

Go 185! Because of the rocker it is going to ski a little short. And since you are a taller guy, go for the bigger size! 185 will be perfect on the blogs!
