Park skis- light and strong.

I am looking to buy a pair of light, strong park skis for the next season and figured it would be cheaper to buy it now. I will be skiing 80% or more park on these, learning rails and doing jumps so I need them to withstand a beating. I am just under 6' at the moment, and was wondering what length to get for park?

The skis I was considering were the faction kennedy, the faction candide 1.0 and the armada ar7. If you have any experience with these, please post up! Also any other suggestions are welcome. I want to be able to spin well with them, and stiffness is not much of an as long as they are strong, so probably on the medium to stiffer flex side.

Yeah the candide 1.0 would be perfect. Mid-stiff flex, but great for learning tricks if you don't start off skiing like candide ;). It feels almost impossibly light as well, which is really a huge plus.

How durable are they? Im worried that they might fall apart quickly seeing as how light they are.

No, Faction makes really durable skis. Mine have held up great after lots of abuse. The Superlight core, made of Balsa and Flax, is really dialed in, and as far as I know, there are no durability issues with that core whatsoever.

Sweet, thanks dude! Ive got a website that sells em for 260$ new, so I might go with that. The kennedy is around 80$ cheaper though, do you know if they are any worse or just different graphics?

I'm pretty sure they changed the core to poplar/ash so next years will probably be stronger, but a little heavier.

I have been riding the AR7 for two years now and they are bomb proof. Really good ski to bring to jumps and they are light enough for rails.


From my experience, the AR7 is a stiff ski.

The Kennedy is pretty much the same ski, it uses the poplar/birch core instead of the Superlight, and then has cap contraction instead of a full sidewall. The 1.0 will be lighter and more torsionally stiff (which is side to side flex, not longitudinally stiff), meaning it will be more stable as well. They are both great skis, just the 1.0 is made with better quality materials.

Wouldn't really call the ARs light, but they are durable

Sweet thanks! How do they fare outside of the park ie hardpack/low pow? not really essential but it would be nice to have a good pair of skis for charging, cause my skis now are pretty buttery and thus I can't go too fast and stay stable with them.

I haven't skied them myself, but I can tell you from my friend's opinion that they carve very well on hardpack and are very stable at high speeds. They are also a great pipe ski, and pipe skis can always rip groomers. I would think they would do very well in pow, considering they have a 81mm waist and are fully cambered, but that is not what you buy them for.
